GIve it a break. Do you take joy insulting people or something? You've never once given me a reason what reason you have for insulting someone. Yeesh, anyway, I've seen a bunch of polls and such about the PSP, and some of it is very negative feedback... |

Esterman, you're not worth this debate, are you?
Lexar has raised some valid (and mostly objective) points and so have others, yet all you can do is rave about how much you've precommitted yourself to loving the PSP.
Can't you do any better than that? Or is your loyalty/bias towards Sony too strong? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

It seems Logan has been brainwashed/ threatened into being Sonys Be@ch.
Anyway, graphics does seem to be the only argument the PSP supporters can throw out.
Here is a little peice of fun...
Oh, and Metroid Prime and Prime 2 were such kiddie games... <_< |

agreed.
I don't see the reason to want to have amazing graphics on a portable gaming system anyhow I mean.....the only time I'd want to get one is if I'm going on a road trip or something (bring something to do)
otherwise, games are something I'd like to play comfortably at home ^^
i want the new PS2 |

...the [square] button is less responsive than the others, in part because it's so close to the PSP's 480x272 screen. Because there isn't enough room to put the square button's detection switch directly underneath, it's off to the right, making it less responsive--and sometimes causing it to stick.
"design flaw"?
And seriously, how much detail can you cram into 480x272 PIXELS! You don't need bleeding-edge 3D hardware for that, smaller resolutions are always faster (and require less processing power) than higher resolutions, because there are simply fewer pixels it has to write to on any given frame....
The next time somebody says how the Nintendo DS has 3D capabilities "only" slightly better than the N64, consider that its screen area is a significantly smaller resolution than the Nintendo GameCube or PS2, and therefore it can update that smaller screen at, perhaps, 3-4 times the efficiency/rate of, say, the N64 could do with a full TV screen.... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Well, consoles work with pretty low resolutions too. 640x480 or 800x600 is already pretty much the maximum you can get out of a tv screen. But yeah on such a small screen, I still think the gba games look really awesome, and to be honest I don't really need/want an improvement on it. I want my old fashioned sprite graphics! |

Which may, or may not, be the resolution that the hardware generates the image at. For example, if you render an image at, say, 1600x1200 and then output it to a 800x600 screen, this produces a nice antialiasing/smoothing effect on the 3D graphics.
It's the dimensions of the internal rendering surface, more than the final resolution seen on the screen, that puts a cap on the maximum refresh rate. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Come on, 2xanti aliasing on 640x480 is much more efficient than 1600x1200 for any machine. And on a tv screen it will look the same. Most consoles have pretty much comparable graphics processors to pc's. xbox has a geforce, and gamecube has an ati for example. |

I've done some work with DirectX, but I haven't experimented with anti-aliasing. Some anti-aliasing requires that objects be rendered in a strict back-to-front order, some anti-aliasing requires a second pass, and regardless, it does requires more memory usage than without it. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Yes, but from my experiences with games, it's less stressfull on a machine than going up one resolution step (800x600 to 1024x768 for example). But consoles don't even need it, because 640x480 already looks fine on a tv screen. In fact, N64 games had 320x240 and still looked fine (jagged edges wise). I know this, because that's the standard resolution for emulators. (But it looks crap on a pc monitor)
Edit: though other N64 games had different resolutions, like expansion pack games, they would go up to 640x480. Most games had 320x240 with AA (which was revolutionary at the time I remember) |

Yeah... compared to the Sega Saturn and PSX, the N64 was like the first console to support texture filtering (no pixelating textures! Yay!), plus the antialiasing to smooth the image out (also unlike the PSX/Saturn with 'jaggy' edges). _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Look, I really don't give a damn what you guys have to say on this topic. There is no debate, nor gray areas. The PSP is PERFECT; no in betweens. Hell, I can adgulate on this topic for weeks. If you leave me to my own discussion, I can keep this topic alive on my own. I've gotten to that point where I don't even really read other members' comments.
The Countdown CONTINUES; The Future is ALMOST HERE!! I hope you got your reservations!! These things are gonna sell like hotcakes!! And it will be good, I promise!!

Isn't it funny how lemmings will walk straight off a cliff to its death, convinced that its going the right way and ignoring all evedence to the contrary? On an unrelated note, ever notice how some people act suprisingly like a certain animal? |

You're fighting over which is better.... that's kinda funny. It's all a matter of opinion. Personal likes and dislikes. I won't get either. Cuz I have enough stupid sh*t that I shouldn't have wasted my money on. However if I was to buy one, it would be the psp. I agree with Logan to a point. All of you should just go out and get xbox.. and get xbox live.
Strata... you let one of your systems fall off of your tv?.......Be more careful s**t if I ever did anything like that I would never hear the end of it. I have to be super careful with everything around here or Ash will flip. Basically everything is in perfect condition. _________________ |

Nah, I'm fighting over the fact that it has flaws and this guy says it's beyond perfection (he just...irritates me to know end T.T;;; )
I won't know which is better until i've played both to a certain degree (I've played DS alot cuz my spoiled brother and my friend's beyond spoiled sister got one for X-mas; and have heard nothing but bad news about the PSP) |
