I was talking with my brother and we were talking about all the pets we've had (coming from a family of 8, every kid wanted their own pet at one point or another)
So name your pets!
Pets my family has had since I was born (in order of "appearance" ) :
Frisky -- Dingo (died in the kenel when we moved)
Murphy -- Cat (Died of old age)
Mable -- Rat (died of a tumor)
Captain Carrot -- Rabbit (returned to the wild since we found him out there in the first place)
Leasal (came with the house...) -- Dog (died of REALLY old age)
Fingers & Skittles -- Cat brothers (Skittles ran away & Fingers is still quite alive)
Bheighphiey (pronounced "Beafy") -- Dog (still alive)
Tucker -- Parakeet (cat got 'em)
Tucker II -- Parakeet (little brother "set him free")
Tiffany -- Parakeet (cat again)
Tucker III -- Parakeet (vet didn't cautorize his wound from a blood clot properly)
Lady Hamalot of Nascar -- Hamster (died old age)
Sir Hamlet of Nascar -- Hamser (died of old age)
A sum of 50 + hamster that came from the above two T.T;;;;; some of which included:
Hairly, Fatty, Houdini, Ralph, Super Dude, Stumpy, Honkey (he was albino), and many.....many....many more.
(all either were given away, escaped, or died several years later)
BunBun -- Rabbit (still alive)
Quinn -- Kitty (still alive)
@.@;;;; .......we've had lots of pets.... |

We've managed to keep the number of pets down. From the "one pet at a time" rule. It's a bitch to find people to take care of what we have (which is down to one).
But anyway -
Bootz - returned to the pet store after two days because my brother was afraid of him. Brother was 2, dog was a shitzu and loved chasing him.
Spotsy - Jack Russell, died of old age and a variety of illnesses. Tough little thing. In the end, I believe she had cancer, kidney failure, eye trouble, and was morbidly obese. Photo
Oreo - Miniature hamster. Belonged to my brother. The rest of the family hated it. You had to use a plastic bowl to get it out because it would bite anything that came into its cage. Afterwards it was more or less ok. It was flung across the room a few times after biting someone and refusing to let go. Died of (probably) old age. Funny thing is we got the stupid thing at one of those "animal fair" things where they've got booths of all different kinds of pets, and one booth had a big tub of the things. My brother was playing with them, and one bit him, so the lady gave us a free one. Oh yeah, 'cause that's what we want, a rodent that bites.
Nibbles - Guinea Pig. Also my brother's to replace the hamster. Little bro forgot to give him veggies and vitamins after the first few days. Eventually died of a nutrition problem after a few months. Little bro hasn't been given a pet since.
Azrael - Leopard Gecko. Oldest of the pets and still alive and kickin'. Has many many years left in her, but I won't be able to afford to take her to school with me. The only pet I actually got to name, since she's mine and not a family pet. Photos: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Argon (husky mutt)
I was little when he died. Daddy told me he was sick.
Flame (fire-bellied toad)
Strawberry (fire-bellied toad)
Jade (dumpy frog)
Hopper (small tree frog)
Popper (small tree frog)
Suction Cup (small tree frog ) What was I thinking when I gave her that name?
(I had to give all my frogs and toads away when we moved because they'd die if we moved them across the country.)
Copper (Chesapeak Bay retriever)
We got him when he was a bit too old, so he was hard to train. He was a hunting dog anyway, and we just had a fenced-in back yard. Right before we moved again, my dad gave him to a friend who hunts with his son, and the son always wanted a dog.
Heidi (husky / German shepard)
Lucy (boarder collie)
Our current sweeties! _________________ |

Let's see, all the pets I remember having are -- well, let's start with the cats:
"Peanuts" - (circa 1985) Family cat; classic black, green eyes. Originally a stray. Can't remember what happened to him though.
"Goldy" - (circa 1990) Mine. Orange tabby cat, white stripes, green eyes. Bought from a friend's family. Got his tail caught in the door one day, had to take him to the vet & amputate half of it off. Don't know what happened to him.
"Paddles" - Younger sis's. Orange/white tabby cat with green and blue eyes. Goldie's brother. Died of feline leukemia.
"Silver" - (circa 1990). Older sis's. White siamese, blue eyes. A survivor of just about everything, lived to 14 years, died of natural causes.
"Salty" - Family cat. Silver's brother; siamese with blue eyes. I believe he was hit by a car or something.
"Pepper" - (circa 1990) Family cat. Grey/black striped with green eyes. Streetwise but dog-weary, once got chased up a telephone pole & was afraid to come down. Ultimately hit by a car.
"Paddles II" - Younger sis's cat. Hit by a car.
"Paddles III" - Younger sis's cat, also hit by a car.
"Rosy" - Younger sis's cat, white. Hit by a car.
- Also had a sister, who died of feline leukemia.
"Bigfoot" (or something, I can't remember) - Originally from a friend, grey/black striped with extra toes on each foot. I don't recall what happened to him.
"Duke" - Friend's cat, thick white fur and blue eyes. Fought Silver a lot, had flea problems. Eventually given back to the friend.
"Max" - Friend's cat, black/white spots, liked Duke. Very chubby. Also fought Silver a lot, but no flea problems. Also given back to the friend.
"Zelda" - (circa 1995) Calico, green eyes. Originally a stray, took a liking to Silver.
"Whiskers" - White/gray tabby/siamese (or so she appears), blue eyes. Originally a stray, doesn't like other cats very much.
"Jack" - Originally a stray or neighbor's cat, showed up one day and hasn't left. Outdoors cat, not allowed inside. Thick grey/black striped fur and green eyes. Very friendly but goes after Zelda/Whiskers sometimes.
"Spook" (aka "Sinbad") - Also originally a stray from elsewhere in the neighborhood (had a flea collar but no ID), black with white underfur ("underpants"). Docile and very silent (rarely meows or purrs), easily spooked, but friendly. Loves Jack.
And then the dogs:
"Rambo" - Tricolor aussie. Family dog, didn't like visitors much. Lived to about 14 years, became obese, not much exercise, died of natural causes.
"Sarge" - Blue mottle aussie. Purebred, friendly but a little wild, never well trained. Lived to be about 14 years old, barked a lot, lost his hearing, lost sight in one eye (and much of his balance), had to put him down.
"Dutchess" - Orange dog, not sure what breed. Barked a lot, eventually given to a friend.
"Shadow" - Black lab/chow. Friendly and well-trained. Currently about 10 years old, a little lonely without the other dogs. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Yep, so much nicer than the biting rodents. She's worth quite a bit at this point 'cause she's pampered and huge, but the folks are gonna take her while I'm in school. Don't think the roommate would appreciate me showing up with a reptile and saying "by the way, this light has to be left on at all times, she pounds on the glass all night, and I have to keep this big container of mealworms here..." :D

Haha! Awesome name! If the last dog we had gotten would have been male, I would have named him Indi after Indiana Jones. Indis real name was Henry, but he likes to be called Indi after what was really the family dogs name. That's why I thought that would have been a cool name for a dog.
I can just imagine a tricolor aussie with a red rag tied around his forehead, shooting a machine gun.

Damn, all of you guys had so many pets and yet I can count the number of pets I've had on only one hand.
Baby/Blackie/Shadow---This poor cat kept getting his name changed (I was two going on three and apparently coulddn't keep the same name for more than a week.) I think Baby died but I'm not sure. He died/was given away/dissapered when I was really little so I don't remember.
Jerry---The reason why I don't like hamsters. <_< Got him when I was five and I couldn't pet him. And when I tried to he would bite me. One time he bit me and I pulled my hand out of his kennel and he was hanging from my finger by his teeth. He died a little later on after that 'cuz I *cough, cough* put him in my closet, shut the door, and forgot about him. I think I don't need to say what ever became of ol' Jerry after that. <_<
Goldie---My first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and maybe even seventh goldfish. To make a long story short, my parents pulled of the "Replace dead fish before the kid wakes up" trick. It went on for a year and a half and I didn't find out about it for about eight years.
Duchess---My first pet that I got to take care of all by myself. ^_^ Such a cute black floppy eared bunny. I got her when she was a baby but she didn't last long. She died at four months old because the people at the pet store never told us that she needed to eat fiber grass to stay healthy. She got infected with some stomach disese and didn't survive it. I was and still am very sad about that. She was such a sweet bunny. She came when I called and loved to hop in my lap and just let me pet her.
Kayla---My current love of my life. I got her about two weeks after Duchess and she's still around today. She's a kitty cat who is just a sweetheart. A little on the lazy side but she loved to be loved and craves my family's attention (particulary from my mom and I. For some reason, she doesn't cuddle up to guys unless the guys come to her first.) Despite what some people think, she is pretty smart. She even knows that she has nicknames (never really gotten over that from age two I guess. ^^;; I call her Kay-Kay, Baby Girl, and Zoo-zoo and she still knows that its her.) My friends even have nicknames for her and still knows they're her names (Mardi-Grai is the most used 'cuz of how her face is like a mask.)
Amy, you have a German shepard? I'm green with envy. I've always wanted a German shepard but my mom won't let me get a dog. When I get my own house someday (hopefully...) I'm definetly getting a German shep. They're such good dogs. ^_^
And I'll leave you all with a pic of my current sweetie, Kayla. ^_^ _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Pets,eh?
Well...
I've had a TON of fish, I think I had about 27 of 'em I dunno.
Toby & Shadow- (cats, both tabbies) I had them for about 4 years. Turned out my brother was allergic to them,so we just released them into the wild.
Sir Duke- (dog, Dalmation) He died when I was really little. I think my parents said he ate ant poison or something.
Zeve & Legato- (ferrets) Oh, they're still very, VERY much alive. It's kinda hard to keep up with them, but they're my little buddies, so it's cool.
Cid- (dog, husky/wolf) My wonderful dog. I got him from some old dude who used to live near me. I love him to death and anytime I'm not on the computer, playing games or drawing, I'm playing with Cid. Cid, you rock! ^_^

We've gone through so many birds that I forgot all of their names... I think my sisters named three birds Princess though.
Fish- We had tons of them, never named the things. Needless to say, they're all dead :(
Beau- My first dog EVER. He was a Golden Retriever. He was the same age as me and nearly died as a puppy. My dad eventually put him to sleep because he got so sick he couldn't walk anymore. He was only like... 11? 12? :(
Oreo- My sister got a cat named Oreo for her birthday. It was one of the MEANEST cats ever, but we loved it. Oreo and Beau used to sleep together infront of the door. It was so funny to see a cat and dog that actually got along. My dad gave the cat away without telling my sister and I. He just told us that it ran away.
Whiskers- I got my pet bunny Whiskers as an easter present. My dad made me keep him outside that winter because he said it pooped in the house (which it didn't) and I found him frozen to death when I came out to clean his cage. I was only five and it made me really sad. Poor hollow bunny... :(
Princess I, II, III- My sister's had five birds, but three were named princess. I didn't really care for them. I'm not a fan of birds.
Bird (I forgot it's name)- Yep, it died.
Holly- My dog we have now. She's a Black Lab/Collie mix. She's really huper, big, and annoying. I love her anyway, though <3
Rudy- Rudy is my favorite. He's so cute! I'm the only one in my house that he likes. He tends to follow me aruond. When I'm on the computer, he sits on the scanner and watches me. |

I think she's 11 or 12 by now. Maybe a bit older (not sure exactly how old she was when I bought her, but I was 8 at the time). She's got another 10-15 years left in her. Long term pet, but not as bad as some other reptiles and birds. And friendly. I've gotten so used to sleeping with my room glowing blue from the heat light. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Ive had a good share of pets as I grew up.
Husky cross
Kayak: Was overly protective and gave him away as a guard dog.
Poodle cross
Mindy: ate poop so gave her a new home
Cocker Spaniel
April: Had a Snappy temperament, got her a new home.
Two Cockatiels:
Hattie: was a real sweetie, lived for 8 years
Honey: was not so nice and had to watch your fingers and if let out the cage to fly she would crash into things, I think she had poor eye site as yellow cockatiels are a weaker bird then the grey ones like Hattie was. Lived for about 6 years.
Both birds died from a respiratory problem.
Golden Lab cross
Amber: Our golden girl. Didnt like being left alone, but she was ok in the back yard. Liked playing ball ,going camping and long walks. Didnt trust all people so had to careful. Lived for 14 years. Had to put her down do to liver failure.
Two Calico longhair Cats.
Rosie: easygoing pillow cat, lived about 10years, had to put her down do to liver failure.
Daisy: was playful, liked outside and if you whistle, sing or play a recorder she will try and smack you (otherwise Rosie loved it). Daisy had dementia and had to be put down at about 11years old.
Both cats stayed close to home.
Teddy bear hamster
Twinkles: friendly, gentle little rodent died from old age.
Tuxedo cat
Figaro: Playful cat, like to go into cupboards and loved outside, also roamed even after he got fixed. Got into some kind of poisonous material in neighbourhood and died. Only had him for about 2 years.
Black, medium haired cat.
Gina: This cat is very different from the other cats. She has dog traits to her personality. This cat will drop her favourite toy in front of you to play with her. Will meow if she is left alone, or if you are in a closed room and she knows you are in there, like the bathroom You can do almost anything with this cat she has a very good temperament. Example: you can wear her like a mink stole around your neck; spin her around on the kitchen floor like a mop etc. She has a routine as well. She will wake my mom up for her morning breakfast almost at the same time everyday (most of the time) so she works as an alarm clock too. Very vocal cat as well. She makes a good hunter if you let her; she also has a tendency to take some of my moms nick-knacks and hides them around the house. She looks like a typical black cat with yellow eyes but on the inside she is one of a kind!

Hmm.. Kewl..
Ok through the years we have had a load of fish.. Never did like them 'cause you can't play fetch or anything with 'em.. Quite dull, really.. Umm.. We got Jaeger when I was born. A german-shepherd pure-breed. Beautiful dog, he was.. Very placid and lay'd back but loved to roll around with you (which I did through the years..) Just an awesome dog, well trained too.. You could stick a knife in him and he'd know you did it for good reason. Dad din't treat him very well though *cry* but all in all he had a very good run.. had to be put to sleep when we were both about 14 or so. Damn the family was absolutely devastated. You know that empty feeling of loss you always have no matter what mood you are in.. Telling the funniest joke or in your lowest moment, there's always a gap you'd keep for that special one.. Yeah we did love him and would have kept him around but he was living hell.. His hips and sides were starting to fail on him and he'd let you know if he was hurting by squeeking at you and looking to you. Very very sad moments in his life but we grew up together and sadly all things have to end. I guess it was just his time.. At least now we know he's running free in some meadow with all other little doggie friends  There's God trailing behind, out of breath with a bagful of leads lol anyway..
All the dogs we have now are rescued from bad owners and suchlike.. so they didn't cost much. Just the kennel's charge for shots and chipping and such
Then came Jake about a year after saying goodbye to ol' Jaeger.. A (what we think is a) full breed rottweiler, but we can't be sure. He has his full tail, too Great guy.. very lazy now. He got a slipped disk in his vertebrae a while back when he was only young but he's made a good recovery.. We had to look at putting him down at first but the great young surgeons at Liverpool veterinary University dealt with him almost immediately. They did all sorts of stuff to him and now his back left leg looks as if it is numb.. He has pills 'n' s**t in his food to keep him going and it does help any pain he may have and helps bone and muscle regeneration.. He's only like 5 so he's still a baby.. Really is a great guy. Very vocal, too.. He'll shout at you when you leave the house 'cause he's protective and wants to go with..
Then along came Winnie!! (after a few bitches we tried didn't like Jake, we couldn't let them stay) She's a loverly, blonde girl.. Cross lab-alsation. She's one of a litter of about 9 dogs Yeah.. She's the only yellow one too, quite strange but she's very good, fast and agile. Really cautious and definately a dizzy blonde. She's very fit and very active so no problems as of yet with her ^^ :D
Then McCoy!! Wow what a story. A neopolitain mastiff of 3 years (4 on 1st of April) He's grey colour (charcoal-blue/grey sorta thing) and quite tall. Beautiful blue eyes and a looong tail.. Looks kinda like a baby elephant and definately popular with the ladies. He has, though, hip dysplacia and arthiritis and allsorts. He has many pills with his food lol and is slowly recooperating but he'll never be the same. We rescued him and he was covered in ticks and skin disorders. Bald patches all over his body and cigarette burns in his flesh (some seriously sick fuckers out there.. he was just a puppy for f**k's sake.. ) We got him all fixed up and such.. though he has a slight temper at times, he's a loverly dog and loves eating, swimming and sleeping! :D
Then came Mesi! A full rottweiler. My wittle baby Such a great, fast, strong fighter. Nothing more to say. She's in full health and loves long walks on the beach Great lil' girl, though..
Sirius!! Pure german-shepherd.. A little pain in the arse He's getting tall and he's agile.. keeps stealing sh!t off the kitchen tops so we've had to get locks on everything. He's smart too, opening the baby gate(s) we have to keep them from going upstairs.. The first one has 2 'locks' but somehow they manage to get through  Awesome doggy and an all-round nice guy. Loves playing with the other dogs and is a cheeky lil' skamp Great guy though.. always up for a play.
Melodie!! (I only found out it was Melodie today.. It's the dutch spelling, apparently) She's a lovely lil rottweiler with fluffy ears and very loveable. Enjoys playing with the other dogs and loves eating too.. In good health and loves walks
Yeah a great pack, over here.. Mum takes 'em swimming in a specially design'd dog theraputic swimming pool and they all love it.. that's all for now.. I think mum might be thinking of a se7enth  God help us. |

Gray you are like my hero now. You and your family saved all of those dogs and take care of them, that is so wonderful that you help those dogs.
We rescued him and he was covered in ticks and skin disorders. Bald patches all over his body and cigarette burns in his flesh (some seriously sick ers out there.. he was just a puppy for f**k's sake.. )
Holy f*ck! Who the hell does that to a poor puppy? At least the dog's with a good home now. -_-
I can never understand how anyone could abuse an animal. Especially when its a puppy or a kitten or just any kind of baby animal. Its sick. The only pet I saved was my cat, Kayla. Thankfully, she's healthy and she wasn't abused. The owner just dropped her in a shelter 'cuz she couldn't take care of her for some reason. She was shaggy as hell though when we first got her. There were knots everywhere in her fur.
I don't have any more pets. I've pet-sitted a lot of pets to the point where they I could've considered them my pets. ^_^ My favorite ones out of those were...
Coa-Coa---My friend's ferret. Wiley 'lil thing didn't know the meaning of the the word 'rest.' It loved to chase anything that breathed and then some. Quite a hassle to take care of. It kept going under couches and fridges and would stay there until I bribed it with a toy or a treat. Great to play around with though. Because of him I want a ferret of my own someday in spite of the smell.
Spike---The most hyper Yorkshire Terrier that I've ever met. Tiny little buster but he had a lot of balls. No fear in this lil' guy. ^_^ He was kind of hard to walk though 'cuz he would love to run around but the other dog I also took care of couldn't run so usually I'd let Spike off his leash and let him run around a feild till he tired out. Did I mention he's smart? He knew the sound of my voice only after three days of taking care of him. ^_^
Jinxie---A Chow-chow (I know thats not how you spell it but I don't know how... <_< ) and the single sweetest dog I've ever met in my life. I used to be afraid to walk up to her 'cuz she was so big and she seemed really tense all the time. But I found out that Jinxie was blind in one eye and could barely see in the other so if I wanted to play with her I would have to call her name first so she'd know it was me petting her. She was the dog I had to walk with Spike and she had to walk slower than the other dog but that was fine 'cuz sometimes I'd take her out for an extra walk just me and her. She was such a sweet dog when you got to know her. I love Chow-Chows. They remind me of big lions with purple tongues.
Alley---My aunt's golden retriever and hyper as hell. Luckilly, she listened to me some of the time (which is more than a majority of people she knew) and I eventually trained her to drag my little brother across the living room floor.
Dakota---My Uncle F's dog. She's a wolf mix breed and very sweet. She loves to wrestle even though she's fourteen and recovering from a tumor surgery. I don't see her as often as I'd like but when I do, my attention is focused on her. She's an awesome dog. ^_^

Lol! God help you if she decides to get one of those smaller yappy dogs. Probably would cause quite a comotion with all those larger dogs. : _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |
