I have to admit... I never really want to BE any particular Anime or Manga character....

I mean, all but one of my favourite character's are men... And I wouldn't really want to be a guy. And the gal on my fav's list is Asano Rin, from Blade of the immortal... And she has had such a tough time in life and is constantly confronted by some of the worst people out there, like Shira and Sabato... Well basically it'd suck to be her.

Also, i'd hate being one of my favourite character's because... Well you can only go out with ya self for so long.. Razz

And besides, most of the guy's I like aren't even that good looking, I mean, I love my ickle Beshimi but he really ain't the most attractive of men.

If I had to be an anime character, I'd be a random passer-by in the street... No! An Oniwanbashu from Rurouni Kenshin, not one of the lead ones, but a random one. Basically from there, I could do my uttermost to befreind my favourite lead Oniwanbashu'. I mean, that's better, ain't it? Knowing and making relationships with your favs?

I'd steal their stuff though. Like Ororon's fuzzy coat. Or Koga's furry mini-shirt. Or Toma's hat. >3

Exactly what I said, I mean, who'd wanna be their favourite anime character?? Meh. I'd love to go to a theme park with my top ten Manga character's though.... I mean, How cool would that be?? huh? Huh?

I had a dream once where I went to 'flamingo land' (a theme park) with Tomo and Soi from Fushigi Yuugi. That was weird, funny, but weird. Hell, I really want to go to a theme park now!

I'd steal Chichiri's magical hat, Tokaki's earings, Beshimi Razz

, Han'nya's mask, Manji's weapon's and Giichi's shades 'n' blade. Yeah, like I could without being slaughtered, lol.

It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.
How long did it take my brother to defeat those characters using Yoshi? Two minutes.

if i were you, i wouldn't so completely trust 4kids in their translations, especially considering what they've done to other shows before.

i'm too lazy to translate thigns for myself, let alone anyone. if i'm watching a raw anime, it's just whatever i can recognize. same for untranslated mangas.

only thing i bother translating is lyrics, for practice.

.....ok. Seriously. There HAS to be someone, somewhere, in one of those anime / mangas that lives an ideal life X_X;;;. I'd love to trade places with any side-character that's mega-rich, powerful, leads a peaceful life, etc.

So why can't I think of anyone?!! O_O;; I can think of a TON from books and movies. But everyone I think of from an anime or manga has tragedy or great hardships happening with them O_o. Is it just me, or do anime / manga characters go through a whole lot of tragedy?

I know! *laughs* I mean, all anime and manga characters seem to go through massive life ordeals to get where they are and to become the people we'd love them to be. I'd hate to become someone with a more traumatic past then myself. Plus, we love certain characters for their personality gimmicks... Well, in becoming that character, who'd say you would have that same personality or would like it yourself. It might not be fun to be the joker of the group.

Ah, and some characters get themselves beaten up, tortured and half killed so many times... Mainly when they are all chibi-fied... I would not enjoy that! I'm attacked enough by my own freinds already, I mean, look at the damage these characters get 24/7!

I still am strong in my whole, background character thing, I mean, they could have a REALLY happy life as far as we know.

Personally I wouldn't want to be an anime character, I would like to be more like several characters. Because all anime characters have tragic pasts, or are blatantly annoying. Sure, it'd be great to live in the world of animation, where nothing can go wrong, as long as you're the lead.

But if I had to choose who I would be, I'd be [b]Chichiri[/b] from [i]Fushigi Yuugi[/i], because of his personality. I'd use his magical transporting hat, to escape school when I'd forgotten my homework. Or if I really needed the toilet. And his magical cloak, to make myself invisible if I wanted to annoy someone.

He's patient and kind, and calm and just a big-brother to everyone.

But if I could mix any characters I would have:

[b]Sakura[/b] ([i]Cardcaptors[/i]) - Optomism, Kindness
[b]Vegeta[/b] ([i]Dragonball Z[/i]) - Ability to fly, strong willed
[b]Chi[/b] ([i]Chobits[/i]) - Innocence, Niavity
[b]Yui and Miaka[/b] ([i]Fushigi Yuugi[/i]) - Their looks

That's a good idea, perhaps Guard #5 was a happy guy, with children, loving wife and a great life. Or perhaps he was a nobody, lonely, no money and was struggling to survive.

I wouldn't mind to be a minor Character, Like [b]Aono Tomo[/b] from [i]Fushigi Yuugi[/i] [N.B. I am FY obsessed at the moment. Please bear with me] He has a great family. Nice house. Is clever, loving, kind, a gentle giant.

I wouldn't mind being him... If he was a girl ofcourse, I don't fancy being male but I that is the style of lifestyle I would like to live as an anime character. No dismal past, an uplifting future. And everyone loves you.

Apart from the fact that he doesn't really exist he just lives in [b]Tomo's[/b] illusion. But I would live in a clam if I had to.

If you're wanting to be an anime character basing it on their lifestyle, [b]Poplar[/b] from [i]Imadoki[/i] would be a great character to choose. Loving family, very protective, great life. Happiness. Apart from he's a fox, but you can work around that...

Which is unfortunate, because alot of people wish to be their favourite character not thinking of that angle.

Like you, Saito-San, I would rather be the friend of my favourite character if I had to be a character. Or perhaps, be a total random person so I can become friends with the character.

But the fact is that if they were a random passer by, the would not be an anime character, because they have not been developed enough. Therefore, you would not exist, making it impossible for you to meet "[b]Oniwanbashu[/b]".

So in short, I would not like to become any anime character, I'd prefer to merge many different characters, to create a new character.

I'm just going to ignore you AnimeFanGirl, cause I'm alot more in topic then you are, I'm commenting on being 'Other' people.

If I interpreted your post wrong, I apologise.

I have to disagree with your last point, if you are looking into the whole, "If they ain't speaking, they have no development cause the author didn't give 'em one" idea... Well, I really disagree, I mean, if that were the case, most anime and Manga character's wouldn't be practical to become 'cause we never see them go to the toilet or whatever so you'd get massive stomach cramps in becoming them. I mean, If you look beyond that though you can say:: They do go to the bog, ya just don't see them doing it... Well the same goes for a unknown but once viewed oniwanbashu character. I mean, you could argue that they themselves aren't a character but for the sheer fact that they were drawn and placed in Rurouni Kenshin shows that they were intended to live in that world and therefore be apart of it and have a personality. The fact that they were in the same scene as the other Oniwanbashu shows that they probably know them and therefore, if you suddenly became them, you could carry on that particular relationship and advance it to a stage unseen in manga or anime making your random character into a full fledged manga main!

If forced to become a lead though... Er, I'd probably become Miboshi from Fushigi Yuugi. I don't particularly like him but he gets a sweet deal with that prayer wheel... You'd never be lonely with all the demons you could summon and if you got bored of being a psycho chubbie baby, you could always take over someone elses body and start afresh from there. Shallow, I know, but he can float for god's sake!

I wonder if I argued my point right there... Or a made a total fool of myslef again. Ah well.
