Saw part of the trailer for it on TV the other day, it's undoubtably one of those games that make you scratch your head and say "they're doing WHAT?"

This sounds like they were too cheap / lazy to do more complicated graphics...so they used a bunch of polygons and called it "Lego" =_=".

Hey, people, lighten up! :P

Look at it this way: The last time the industry crossed two well-known brand names together in a WTF combination, it resulted in arguably one of the best action/RPG's of all time -- Kingdom Hearts.

IMO, Lego Star Wars at least deserves the benefit of a doubt....

Ah yes, Kingdom Hearts. The supreme overlord of all RPGs. WEll, when you put it that way, I guess I'll at least try out a demo. Curse you Strata, using my love for Kingdom Hearts against me. Laughing

Surreal. There's no other word as fit to describe it.

BTW, here's the video I was looking for -- it's even funnier than the trailer

You guys don't know a good game if it bit you in the arse. Grr! This is one of my most highly anticipated games, like... ever. EVAR. For one, it's definately not a cheap knock off of the Star Wars and Lego franchizes. The game looks awesome, and it's very creative from a technical standpoint. When you dismember a droid soldier, their pieces actually come apart individually like lego pieces. Also, buildings and platforms form to gether just like Legos/building blocks; just like they should. The game is creative at best, and is one of those titles that you'll spend a lot of lonely nights with.

The game spans the entire new generation of Star Wars, from Episode 1-3. It takes you back to the best moments of the Star Wars franchize including the Pod Races, the Clone Wars and the enevitable revealing of Darth Vader (Skywalker). Although it's pretty impressive in the sense that it spans a hefty portion of the Star Wars universe, the game truely shines in its lack of taking itself too seriously.

In one scene, too pilots sit in midair, as if they're supposed to be sitting in star fighters. The two look at eachother, notice there's no star ship holding them up and they plummet to the ground. Although it's not slapstick funny, the game definately holds that demeanor of comedy and comic relief.

From what we've seen far, the graphics and sound are impressive in the sense they're supposed to be Legos. Each character looks like a more cartoony version of a real Lego character model and the enviornments don't dook out of place. They all share a Lego-build feel, from the foliage to the ships and buildings. Even the ships and space stations are modeled after REAL Lego Starwars models!

The sound is worth noting. All of the effects are taken directly from Lucas Arts studios and the movie itself. There is no voice acting, so that can never get in the way from enjoying your experience with LSW. Instead, characters communicate with their exaggerated movements and facial expressions.

The game is exceedingly basic and simplistic. You've basically got attack, special attack (varies by character) and jump. Plus you can switch between characters at the press of a button. Apart from the simplistic gameplay, the game features 30 playable characters. That's right, THIRTY. You start off with your default characters at the start of any Episode (I, II or III) and you find more characters as you progress. The characters you find durring a level are unlocked for use for the rest of the game, as long as you complete that level. Finishing levels will be a breeze considering the game gives you unlimited lives; once you die you only loose a portion of your money gained plus a three-second wait time to revive. Then you're right back in the action. Losing money is probably not a good thing in most cases since your credits could be used at the game's shop to purchase MORE characters for use (including some of the franchize's villians, yes that's right - Darth Maul). Apart from playing through the three chapters in the single player campaign and buying new characters, you can also unlock new characters by completing specific tasks (from completing all three chapters to setting high-scores).

The characters for the most part all animate smoothly and they all have that unique Lego style to them. Taking into consideration you can play as one of 30 characters, they all are a ton of fun. From the Jedi, to Anikan to the Droidekas (Destroyer Droids... er... the ones that roll around) and even Darth Maul - they're all a blast to use; they also come in pretty explosive and destructive results!

I'm highly anticipating this game, and you should too! I mean, if you can't figure out how to have fun with this game, well you've just forgotten to have fun altogether! I see great things in the future for this non-Lucas Arts/BioWare game, and it comes in a plastic coating. Smile Did I mention there's 2-player co-op? That's right - just like in Halo, once you're done fighting the forces of evil, you can unleash the force upon your ally! There's just too much fun stuff, and so much content that went into the making of this game. Just please, give it a chance. :/

(The game isn't geared just for kids by the way, it's also ment for fans of the film which coincidentally are 30-year old males. Haha.)

You sound as if you quoted a magazine/site article for a few paragraphs... but I do agree with that viewpoint nonetheless.

Sometimes the best things are crazy.

woah, that took me forever to read. Although I might agree with some things you said, the point rests at this. I don't like Star Wars. So, even if it wasn't legos, I still probably wouldn't play it.
