Recently I have been seeing a lot of commercials for "The Sun of the Mask" it looked horrible, it also had a bad rep because it was by the makers of "Cats vs. Dogs." It was obvious to me that it would be another cheap, lame movie. But I got the shock of my day when I saw the star ledger gave it 3 stars! This amazed me. So that gave me an idea to make a thread about movies you thought were horrible, but turn out to be wonderful. Whether you found out like I did or if you actually watched the movie, post here.

I thought Big Fish was going to be an awful movie. We had to watch it for Youth Group and it ended up being awesome. I really, really want that movie now. I'm normally not into the whole fantasy thing (not when it's that far off, anyway) but I really liked it. It's something that inspires me and that I'd watch again.

Umm Team America: World Police.

I suggest you don't watch it. With an attitude like that I'd have floated you away in a box in a river by now. Why make assumptions about films? This thread Is after all aboutfilms you thought would be crap but turned out amazing..

I'm a little ashamed to admit this but...I actually thought that Pirates of the Carribean was going to suck really bad. WTF? I actually begged my mom to let me go shopping while she and my brother went to the movies to see it. Thank God she forced me to go. Very Happy It turned out to become one of my all-time favorite movies and I saw it in the theaters about three more times afterward because I loved it so much. ^_^

I also wasn't really into watching Ella Enchanted (seemd too kiddy-like for someone like me) but it ended up keeping my attention and I borrowed it from my friend a few times. ^_^

To go in the opposite direction...

I thought The Incredibles was going to be really awesome. I thought it was going to be really funny and something that I could watch and think something like, "Oh yeah, thats my mom. She drives really crazy and fast like that." or "Oh man! My family gets in those kind of fights too. They suck but they're funny to watch." But instead it was more focused on the superhero theme than I would've liked it to be. It was very ove - in my opinion.

The Shining was a bit of a dissapointment to me as well. Sad It was a great movie, don't get me wrong. But it wasn't as scary as I was told it was. There was only one scene in the movie that made me jump but it was only scary if you read the book (which I did do before watching the movie.) I was tense throughout the whole movie though because I was expecting it to be really freaky and instead it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be.
