A lot of people can't seem to figure out how to resize pictures. So I'm making this tutorial. Resizing is very simple, and you don't need any fancy program to do it. All you need is Paint. I believe most computers have it as a default program.
Ok first you have your picture. (I'll be using a screenshot of K from gravitation for this lesson)

Now what you have to do is open you picture in paint.
From there go "Image" at the top and select "Stretch/Scew"

Next a screen should pop up. You can ignore the bottom half "Scew". All you'll be needing for resizing is the "stretch" option.

Now there are two percentage fields. Both should be at 100%.
Change these percents. In the example picture I put mine to 60% but you should change it to whatever percent you think would be the best size for you picture.

Making the percent more then 100 will make it larger, making it less then 100% will make it smaller.
Keep in mind that you should make both horizontal and vertical percentages the same otherwise it will end up warping your picture.
Just click OK and you picture should resize! ^^

See wasn't that easy? It only takes a minute or so to do ^^ I hope this lil tutorial has helped some.

Here's a simple formula to calculate scalars:
Scalar = (Final Width) / (Original Width)
So for example, if the picture is 800 pixels wide and it needs to be 600 pixels wide, the scalar value is 75%.
It's easy, just keep in mind that Paint does simple (low-quality) resizes. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Somthing like photoshop will produce a much better quality scale than MS paint, but use what you have available
I'm adding this to the faq _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

Yeah I did it for paint though because a lot of people don't have Photoshop. Pretty much everyone has Paint though so they shouldn't have any excuses ^^ _________________

I don't have Paint.
Photoshop (too lazy to do screenshots. I could do an avi video, though )
Open the image
Go to image>image size
If needed, change the units to "pixels"
Adjust to 600 pixels or less
Click ok
whats the best percentage to resize it at for fac and still have it a good size?
There is no one answer to this question (the "ideal" percentage varies according to the image's original size) . . . but 50% is a good percentage. Why? Because it has the most evenly distributed loss of data (literally every other pixel row/column is deleted, tuhs producing the shrinkage). A number like 90%, on the other hand, means that one pixel row/column will be deleted out of every ten, leading to a slightly warped look. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

You can crop the corner, side, whatever it is off. |

How to crop an image in MS Paint:
- Use the square select tool to highlight the portion of the image you want to keep. (NOTE: Due to MS Paint's limitations, this'll only work if you can fit the entire image into a window -- you can't scroll and select things at the same time)
- On the Edit Menu, choose "Copy" (or hit Ctrl+C)
- Go to the Image menu, select "Attributes" (or hit Ctrl+E)
- On the Image Attributes menu, set the width and height to 1, then hit OK. (Your drawing will seem to disappear -- don't worry about it)
- Go to the Edit Menu and choose "Paste" (or hit Ctrl+V)
- When Paint asks you if you want to enlarge the bitmap, say Yes. Voil! There's the part of the image you want to keep.
Of course, it's a lot easier in programs that have built-in cropping functions (like LView, for example). Then all you do is select the area you want to keep, locate and hit the "Crop" command (usually in the "Edit" menu), and the program will cut off (crop) the rest of the image to fit. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
