I think that Rage Against the Machine is one of the best band names out there, out of the ones I'm aware of...I guess it appeals to me because of my own anger issues...But more importantly because of the frustration I feel when I see how people have become so dependent on technology. When you go buy something at a store, if the electricity is down, you can't buy anything because the cashiers don't work. There are all kinds of other examples I could bring up. I could go on and on about this topic, but I don't want to make a long story longer and write a whole essay. I know that maybe that's not what the band meant when they came up with that name, but that's how I interpreted it.
So what do you people think? What names do you like? |

Hmm... I'll go with just best sounding names instead of ones that have a particular source or meaning or something. Since that really has little to do with it. If it ain't catchy, the meaning doesn't really matter.
Hanoi Rocks
Shotgun Messiah
Aerosmith
Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
LA Guns
Motley Crue
Saigon Kick
Pretty Boy Floyd
Lillian Axe
D'Molls

Some of the best band names I've heard are local bands, as well as two bands started by friends of mine.
Super Fly Malcowitz
Not Lenny
Persephone II and the Epic of the Teen Aged Aquanaut (helped come up with that)
3rd Goose from the Left
Stoked Tony (runner up name to Persephone. If I ever had a band, or talent, this is the name I would call ourselves)
Then of course you have your big time names that I love such as:
They Might Be Giants
Gorillaz
Radio Head
Bare Naked Ladies
Daft Punk
I like fun names. ^_^ _________________

I always thought Status Quo was a pretty cool name. And I like the names Franz Ferdinand, The Rembrandts and The Manic Street Preachers. |

Hootie and the Blowfish (that name makes me laugh. )
Guns 'n Roses (I almost named my friend's band this and was so mad to find out it was already taken. <_< )
Pretty Boy Floyd (hey, it rhymes!)
Haoni Rocks
Grateful Dead
Iron Butterfly
Pink Floyd (I'll never understand why its called this but hey, go with what works I guess.)
Motely Crue
Aerosmith
Anything that makes me laugh or is catchy to say is a good band name in my opinion. *Mumbles* Dammit, I still can't believe Guns 'n Roses was taken. Thats much better than Spectrum. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Hmm...Soul Asylum...that's a good one. Heh, I don't have too many fave band names on my list because I'm picky. Or maybe I don't get impressed easily. <_<

....Um, I always liked the name Pierrot. They don't neccessarily have to be cool names of bands we like (or even listened to), right?
And since this would fit here (sort of), I always thought Guillotine (that's how you spell it right?) would be a cool band name. But for some reason, one of my friends thinks Snapple would be a cool name for a band... |
