Life is unfair. The fangirls just don't listen. There isn't much we can do.

I think one reason that fangirl scribbles get a lot of comments may be because they have a lot of friends who will comment for them no matter what. I'm new here and I don't know anybody, so naturally I won't attract as much attention as some other people here.

I have some great fanart drawings that I'll never even bother to scan because I know they'll never get commented on. Let's face it, some half-assed InuYasha doodle is 1000000x more likely to get comments than my drawings of Lou Reed or The Who. I do put up my Beatles art, however, because people actually know who they are.

Surprised Put them up! I know no one knows or cares who Taime Downe is, but I still put him up anyway. And will be putting up yet another one of him later today. Who cares if no one knows who it is or if they don't comment. Represent, yo.

I get the feeling that people avoid commenting on my pics...I don't want to sound conceited but my pics aren't that bad and still I get only like one comment in a week for a new pic...two if I'm lucky and sometimes, none. And I'm really not in the position to be picky but the comments I get aren't even about the pic...it's like ">blank< RULEZ!!!"And the ones that are..."potentially good ones" get like 50 comments...maybe I really am vain >_>

I have a lotta fanart, (which the coloring sucks); but I mainly drew them as practice so that I could learn to draw characters of my own. It's really funny; I would get so much attention for my fanart, but once I stopped fanart and began on drawing original characters, I didn't become so 'popular' anymore. It was kinda disappointing, but ah well. Regardless, I'm off fanart forever; I prefer drawing things from my own imagination, but of course everyone else has other opinions and I respect that.

My solution would be to draw a relatively popular character, but draw with a concept in mind. Something that you know you would like to portray the character as or a particular background or pose or angel, etc. Then it's a win-win situation: you get more people looking at it because they can relate to popular characters, and you get to draw something you might like drawing because you're drawing or trying an idea on a character. I guess it works better if it's experimental and you don't care which character goes in your picture.

The problem with this is that you still run the risk of getting fangirly comments.

I'm so annoyed with it. My drawings are way better than the 2 comments they deserve - sometimes I don't even get any VIEWS. That hurts! Of course in y-gallery, there was one uber-awesome original character drawing I did that got MASSIVE views and piles of favorites - and 2 comments. I'd like to know at least why they liked it. I've done just one fanart just on a whim, and it was the center of attention - and nothing else got even remotely the love that it did.

But I have some pretty proud things in my gallery that I had to make a stink about in the forums in order to get comments on them. One was a colored pencil dragon drawing I did, and I swear it's the most eye-popping thing with colors and skill - it got overlooked and casually cast aside EVEN in the forums. I thank the people who took the time to look at it!

Maybe there should be a strictly-original character only site for those who're SERIOUS.

I'd love to see that too. Then maybe I'll get some more comments for my Demi series drawings.[img][/img]

My most popular works in both here and Deviant Art are both from Naruto -- a Hinata and Sakura pic.

Neither pics look nothing like the original. The Sakura pic makes me want to cringe every time I see it. I think I can put up a stick figure, label it "xxx from Naruto", and get more faves and views than my best pics.

However:

People will like what they like. Looking down upon them or giving the labels like "obsessive fangirls" is like saying "my opinion is better yours" -- that's just stupid. Personally, I'd keep a picture of a mai shirinui cosplayer with a nice rack in my hard disk rather than a masterful nature photo -- this does not make my tastes in photos "inferior" to anyone.
