Simple And Clean Lyrics

I was just listening to the song "Simple and Clean" by Utada Hikaru (the one from Kingdom Hearts). I love the melody, the rhythm, Utada Hikaru's voice, I just love it all so much!

But then...

The lyrics O_O;;.

Is it just me? Does anyone else think the lyrics are insanely evil? ^_^; They drive me crazy! Here are the parts I mean~

I dunno. This just sounds to me like some guy saying:

"Yeah baby, I love you! Really I do! But why the hell should I go meet your family or try to be nice to you? It's good enough for me to SAY that I love you! Yeah, ummm, you'll get it when you're....older. Yeah. Now let's go have sex!"

^_^;; *falls over* Maybe I'm just reading too much into this? But really, it totally ruins the song for me T_T;;. Does anyone else feel this way about the lyrics?

Dont ruin the song, im a guy and id never say something like that.... this might sound weird but i have that song on a cd and i cant listen to it all the way through cause ill cry if i do

its not really as bad as your making it out to be. its a song about a couple who isnt sure what the future holds and doesnt quite know yet if it involves their significant other but for now theyll just live for the present and see what happens.

oh this song was played sooo much.... it gets stuck in your head! regardless of if you like it or not i dont, but my sisters LOVE that song.... good for them...
so i found a song to counterattack it, actually a bunch.... but the most effective was "edge" by Yuki Kajiura (obsession by see-saw, or the tale you were in by Yuki Kajiura are good too)... all .hack songs >.< only video game music has the power to fight other video game music.

The meaning of the English song has always been fuzzy to me.
But songs are like poems: they're up to the listener's interpretation (whether or not that's what the author meant for the meaning to be or not)

One funny point on this song:

"Simple and Clean" has a different chorus than "Hikari" (the Japanese version)
O.o;; BUT!! The chorus from "Uso Mitaina 'I Love You' " (an older Hikki song) is almost exactly the same as the chorus of "Simple and Clean"!
(we're talking music, not lyrics, btw) :lol:


I realized this a while ago when I was listening to "Uso Mitaina 'I Love You' " and made the connection.

I prefer the Japanese version, it's just prettier sounding to me. But the English version is kick-ass too. I'm not an expert at Utada Hikaru, I don't claim to be, and I don't believe I'll ever care enough to ever be one.

(P.S. I know this is sort of off-topic, but does anyone know where I can download the full version of the PlanitB remix of Hikari?)

Wait, I said that? oops, a bit in over my head, I always cry during the slower song because, erm, my friends, grrm, lol it makes me sad, lol oh well, let my emotions run wild, sorry at the time i called myself an "expert" i didn't pay attension, but I still love the song, lol
