LP's fans are known for their idiocy, and lack of a good arguement to back up their statements; basically, they act like gibbering morons.
Our feelings exactly. Why does this forum seem so negative to LP? Because not once has a fan posted a thread that was more than blind praise. So they get what they give.

Was that a sentence?......

Okay, LP........aren't trying anymore. I liked them in the beginning, beats were catchy, guy could scream. It was fun. Then they went techno-rap.....horrible. It was simply annoying to listen to. THAT'S why you can't just listen to LP. For me, at least, it's just aggravation. <_<

Linkin Park, they're cool, but right now they're a disgrace, having a music video with the asshole knowns as Jay Z. I hate the music video. "Numb" was fine the way it was. Old school rock is ok, but LP can get annoying. But LP is cool with everything else. So whats better "Breaking the habit" or "The end" ?

I must admit I used to obsess over linkin park and I would call it the door opener for me into the genre of rock ect. (then again I was also obsessed with rap, hip hop R&B...) then as I expanded my musical horizons, I realized that Linkin park isnt the best pick of a band, so I don't really like them, but I owe them just the same (or I would be singing along w/ Jojo the red haired girl whos name escapes me and Hillary Duff *pukes*) Surprised

Fiona, I don't think you're an idiot, but I got a feeling of dread when I read that, because I knew it wouldn't get a warm reception.

Also, on the note of LP/JZ, I don't get why everyone keeps busting their arses over it. It was a collaberation, just for some fun, after all, Lp's music has rap in it so why not? Some people might like LP for their rap. I don't think it means they're getting lazy just because they didn't write new songs for the CD. Who's to say they won't write new music next time? It felt to me more like an 'in beetween' project anyway - like Reanimation was, and that was also rap, also disliked. I'll wait for their next CD to come out, and I don't doubt I'll like at least some of it. Doesn't mean I have to buy every CD they come out with. You don't like it? Blow it off.

Alot of people say that LP was good with Hybrid Theory, and got progressively worse. Ever think that you might have just gotten the wrong first impression about them? They haven't changed much. The CDs are usually a slightly different style than the previous one, and because the first one was more rock, some people expected that to be the whole shebang, not taking into account that LP says, over and over, that they mix styles and expirament with different musical concoctions all the time. The music won't always be the same, but I'm sure if you like them a bit, and wait awhile, they will do another rock based CD for you to enjoy.

There are some artists who are very good at that. They evolve and try new things, and fans either follow or don't. However, the good ones are almost always drastic changes, not slight differences. And LP has only made slight differences. Leaning more towards rap isn't "experimenting", in the sense it sounds like they're trying to make it. It's not enough of a change to recognize it as "ok, they're trying this now, I'll check it out...". Too similar to the earlier stuff, only shittier. Either you be AC/DC and release 11 albums that sound the same but are equally good, or you be Bowie and release 10 that are drastically different to the point you'd barely recognize it was the same person in both image and sound. Fumbling around in some gray area just sucks.

You can slowly progress, but from what I've seen, that's not the case.

And I don't mean this as in personal taste, I mean when it comes to a career and success. If you don't establish yourself as one of the above, it's very hard to hold an audience's attention. No one will know what to expect, something similar to last time or a new direction, and that annoys people. Eventually, most fans get tired of it n' just stop paying attention.

First off, that's a good point, that a gray area is boring.

As for them not expirimenting, (thanks for the correct spelling,) I didn't mean to say that they were trying out a new genre of music, I even said that their music hasn't changed all that much before, but that they're using different styles, the way the music feels, I suppose. They aren't like AC/DC, doing the same sound through it all, but they keep the same feel of the music pretty consistant. The exceptions are both collaberations, Reanimation and LP/JZ, so it's not the band so much as the people they work with.

It's also true that they aren't slowly progressing, more like take a step forward, then a step back; every other CD is good. Personal taste speaking there, but many people seem to agree with me. What I don't like about their music is their tendancy to like rap more than the other genres they use. It also seems that people think LP is in a decent into rap music, and they could be right, although I think they have a chance to save themselves. If they do go completely into rap, I will no longer be a fan, but the music they produce on their own still feels good to me.

I don't think the music goes in other directions, and I don't think the fans are really losing interest, they don't seem to fumble around with slightly different music, and they do keep a feel to it that is recognisable. They don't have to keep it all straight and they don't have to jump around, as long as that similarity is there it's close enough and people will enjoy it.

Sorry if this one was a little short/stupid/boring, I'm very tired right now. Good night.

I did say "eventually". Smile LP aren't that old, and their fans are still young. Give it a few years, and they'll have to put up or shut up when it comes to holding an audience's attention. Right now, they've still got the music-listening fanbase, but pretty soon, that group of people will have jobs and families and not be as involved in music. If they can't be guaranteed the next album will be good, it's unlikely they'll bother even checking it out. Doesn't mean everything has to be amazing, but it should be consistent. MTV support only lasts so long, as well. If Aerosmith can't get coverage, LP's days are numbered until they're no longer the "cool thing". When their videos aren't played every ten minutes, they need a steady track record to move albums.

And I don't think they have that. But no one can say for sure, obviously.

They will probably get other fans than the ones they have, so growing up isn't really a factor. However, everything gets stale eventually, and LP will too, that's impossible not to do. Of course, it's highly likey this will happen much faster than it did with other bands, but I'd like to think they'll stick around for quite awhile. Wait, no, some bands don't get stale. But they do get old, stop producing music, yada yada. I'm still a fan for now. And there will probably still be some people still fans of the older LP music even longer than the band's run.

I think I misinterpreted something back there, but I can't think what. Anyways, it's been fun arguing with you Fallen, I really enjoyed that. Smile You're good at it. Finally someone is. We seem to have reached an understanding, so thanks. ^_^

Yep, finally an LP fan that can do something other than state how much they love them. ^_^ I have nothing against the band's fans; just the ignorant ones.
They will probably get other fans than the ones they have, so growing up isn't really a factor.
Oh, but it is. Every band will get new fans, but LP's style is still current and popular. It won't be. Bands from the 70s and 80s get new fans all the time, but it isn't enough to let them sell more than 5000 copies of a new album (unfortunately Sad ). For now, they're attracting young fans. As soon as they aren't the flavor of the times, it'll slow down.

But as to how soon that'll happen...meh, all depends.

wow..this was really good stuff to read

its not everyday you find someone who either likes lp or wants to flame the crap out of them, although you do find the occasional person who thinks jayz is in the band..*blah blah blah continues with no point what so ever....o yeah*

anywho!

*hugs* i just wanted to say thanks to both of you for being the only people i have ever seen in all these years of being a lp fan to give a reason to what you are thinking.

rock on!

i like linkin park Very Happy

i like all 3 albums.... my reasons:
i like hybrid theory because i liked the edgyness of it, plus i enjoy hearing chester yelling Razz i also relate to the lyrics (the cd makes a good listen when youre sorta angry)

i like reanimation too....well some songs on it anyway..it calms me down and some of the remixes aren't that terrible.

i like meteora because of again, the lyrics.."somewhere i belong" comes to mind. i feel like that every day..and i like the new stuff...but then again i like listening to techno..
anyway...please dont rip me apart..in enjoy my taste in music. Cool

Linkin Park is okay. Their not the greatest but their still alright. I loved to listen to them but then...Came a beautiful light from Fallen, Flea and my father...It was then I got into oldies...AC/DC...Journey....And such...That's another story but anyway I still listen to them every now and then when I play games or just browsing the computer. Though I'm still somewhat of a fan. Very Happy;;
