Positive in my opinion Very Happy But, not in everyone's eyes Grr!
Personally, being an otaku is a great thing! I love it myself. And, most people on our website do to.
Oh, whew! *lets out a sigh of relief*

Pertaining to comments, well it's kind of like FAC's self-esteem booster. You want to see if people like your pictures and whatnot. Pretty much what everyone else said!

Ooooh, I agree with most of what has been posted here already~.

One more thing to add...I think getting comments also shows that people have viewed and really looked closely at your art. And isn't that one of the points of drawing? Writers want their stories to be read, artists want their art to be looked at ^_^!

Its really hard for you to look at your own mistakes in a drawing but other people find the mistakes easily. They can tell you what they think is bad on the drawing. So that when you need to draw the same character again, you know what to put more attention on...

I really like comments but just as strata I hate the *here have a doughnut* or *wow isnt this kawaii?* comments. Anyways if you comment on my pics I'll comment on yours...

Sometimes it's easy to realize your own mistakes -- it's the fixing part that's hard. My latest picture for example (a guy fighting a dragon), I tried to employ some extreme perspective to the picture, but that's not something I'm good at, so I already knew that there were going to be problems with it, some parts too large and others too small.

So, about the donuts comments. After leaving the comment on Cara's profile like I did, she responded rather calmly, after which point I gave a bit more explanation as to why I didn't like the comments. I told her that if she can pick out something specific about a drawing she likes, it makes the comments all the more worthwhile to read.

The situation's more or less brushed over IMO. She left a donut comment on my wolf picture the other day, but at least she pointed out two reasons WHY she liked the pic instead of doing just the donut thing....

I need comments to raise my extremely low self-esteem. j/k Razz

Actually, I use comments for inspiration. When I know that there are people who enjoy my art, I feel that I should work harder on my next picture to keep them and myself happy. Yay, comments.

Yeah....when I give out comments (which is not often), I just critique but I'd say 40% of the people I comment think I am a big meanie and I just want to ruin their lives instead of trying to get them to improve their art. I tell the truth, whether they like it or not. If they don't want critiques, they need to say so. <_< But hey...maybe they like the comments that are like, "OMG dat iz totaly awezome!!1!!!!11!one!!" . . . .

I want comments for the C&C. I just noticed my artistic abilities like a year ago, so I obviously have alot of room for improvement. And I have improved! But I wouldn't have so much if people didn't tell me what is screwed up about my pictures.

And I cannot stand it when people just say, "Oh cool Piccy!" or, "OMIGOSH! OMFG! OMFG! SO KAWAII! I LOVE IT!! *FAVS* LOL LOLOL!!!"
Gah! Its so terrible! So if you happen to decide to give me a comment, don't do that, it does nothing for me.
