The theme for this month is Cult Fiction. Choose one of the authors, even if you haven't heard of any of them. Hopefully this'll work.. *crosses fingers*

Hmm...I don't really recognize any of these names except Kurt's. Isn't he the guy who went insane? Hmm...he wrote "The Eden Express: A Memoir of Insanity?" I don't know, I'm just rambling.

If it helps any:

Irvine Welsh: Trainspotting, The Acid House, Glue, Filth
Kurt Vonnegut: Cat's Cradle, Slaughter-House-Five, Bluebeard, Slapstick
Chuck Palahniuk: Fight Club, Choke, Invisible Monsters, Survivor
Tom Wolfe: The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, The Pump House Gang, The Bonfire of the Vanities, The Right Stuff
Hermann Hesse: Steppenwolf, Beneath The Wheel, Demian, Siddhartha
Charles Bukowski: Women, Post Office, Notes of a Dirty Old Man, Factotum

*Note: Just because a Title is listed here, doesn't mean it'll be part of Phase Two, Choosing a book.

Not familiar with any of them. I'm pretty sure that most everyone has heard of Poe, though. Not really cult fiction (more like horror), but a popular writer none the less.

Yeah, but the purpose is to introduce not as well known authors to people. Smile Hence the choose one that intrigues you the most, even if you've never heard of any of them.

Kurt Vonnegut is the only guy that sounds even remotely familiar to me @_o Well, him and Tom Wolfe, maybe...

New authors would be nice, but I doubt anyone will have time to read anything new as school has one quarter left. Maybe more people will join in during the summer.

True, but one a month or even one every two months shouldn't be too bad, should it?

Go Slaughter-House-Five. Cool Yeah, I have to read Grapes of Wrath (shite!), so I probably won't be able to participate. Had to vote for Kurt, though.

Ah that's cool. Might just give this a lenghty period anyway, seeing how it's the first one and everyone's got school stuff to worry about first.

um i picked kurt vonnegut because... i liked his name. hurray for the germanness (i think it's german...). i haven't really heard of the others, except herman hesse (siddhartha was all right, i had to read it for religion over the summer). and irvine welsh sounds familiar. but i wouldn't care which one was chosen. they all sound good, and i'd like to be exposed to new authors.

Come to think of it, Siddhartha is the only one of those books I've heard of. It was one of our required reading choices last symmester. I read One Hundred Years of Solitude instead.

Yep Kurt's German. I take it he's the winner. I'll get another poll going here shortly. Soon as I round up a few Titles.

Ooh, even better...read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest! Ken's from Oregon, lived in Oregon, and wrote the book about the Oregon State Mental Hospital where my uncle just got out of. And it's a trippy book. Then again, big surprise I like a book about mental illness. Rolling eyes
