Stick with it you find out that their ALOT of interesting people in band (that usually make feel better about yourself) but the fun and interesting experiences usually dont happen until you get to Highschool
I am from South Williamsport
HISTORY OF SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT:
The only school that has a 30min. delay when the rest are closed
The only school that has a wrestling room that is smaller than my bedroom
The only school that built a second Basket ball gymnasium that is not regulation size
The only school that has a senior citizen dance
The only school that reqiures ID to go to your own dance
The only school made up of cheapscapes, ripoff artists, and convicts
The only school that uses CHEESE SUBSTITUTE
HOW BIG WOULD THIS SCHOOL BE ON YOUR MAP?
.(ABOUT ONE ONE THOUSANDTH OF THAT) |

Ooh a topic I can contribute to!
-Band camp experiences: So many. The best would have to be the time I flashed the brass instructor wiping a smudge off the band director's window. Oops. His face turned redder than mine did.
-Band director pshyco or not ? Our BD is 21; this is his first season teaching. His psychoticness is very amusing.
-instrument: Pit! Xylo, marimba, vibes, cymbals, tympani, and the fun toys.
-favorite concert/orchestral peice played: "The Fire Of Eternal Glory" by Dimitri Shostakovich. The pit part was fun, and the ending was very powerful. Close second: "Russian Sailors Dance"...we got to act drunk for 12 measures!
-favorite marching music: See above
-favorite band stand music: "Hey"...lovely cymbal part.
-awards won ( Jr. county, States, Region): 23rd in the Atlantic Coast Championships
-Jr. county/ States/ region experiences: The whole busride to ACCs was hilarious...I sat with my "special male companion" the bari sax...when we went under the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel he tickled me to the point of collapse.
-UGLY UNIFORM Encounters: We wear military-style uniforms...

(Modeling the uniform is the aforementioned bari sax player)...it's pretty bad as it is. We're about due for a replacement though...
The worse uniform experience I've seen was chapters last year...a fellow pit player left her Dinkles at school so we had to cover her sneakers in white stick tape. So ugly.
-Parade massacre experiences: Not really a parade, but...During the first home game of the season, I knocked over the water bucket with a marching crash cymbal, soaking my nice white bibbers...you could see right through!
-does your football team suck: Yes. |

I'm a 'band geek'. I was bored and I needed an elective.
The only band camp I went to was for 3 days and it sucked.
My band teacher isn't pshyco, but he is very gay. No one in my band likes him.
I play the alto sax, but I want to play the soprano sax
My fav piece we played Rites of the Tamboro. I think we are going to play Simple and Clean from Kingdom hearts, but I don't know yet. If so...that will be my fav!
My fav march if Funky Town! We got a solo and it rocked!
I went to regions and I got 10th place out of like 48 saxophones.
Wal-Mart uniforms! I swear!
No I wish. (massacre marching thingy)
Our football team can suck when they want to...they obviously want to a lot.

Any rivals
(heh being a baritone during marching season youll find that its awesome being the only instrument BECAUSE DURING LAND OF A THOUSAND DANCES I BLAST LIKE A BAT OUTTA HECK)
Any battle of the bands (when a band plays the same song you played and it bounces back and forth until they stop playing)
and also any annoying bands (bands that will literally play band stand song after song after song)
Darkness1313:
Yes !!! you are a band geek and proud of it .

I won the "Band Award" when I graduated from grade 8 (that officially labeled me as a band geek... o.0) ---I play the clarinet.
I used to play first in our highschool band, along with this other kid (imo, he really sucks. he always plays too loud, flat, fast, and squeeks a LOT.) .... but then the other clarinetists dropped out leaving a total of only 3. So I got "demoted" to 2nd. Argh.
We never play any good songs. The best one we played was a "Best of Star Wars" ... It was really short, tho... but still rather cool. |
