Tactics Genre Games. Do you like them? We don't see that many compared the rpg, action, platform genre games. But they're still out there. How many of us actually play them? Do the 2-D character graphics throw us off? Too much thinking? What is it? Do you like them? Why or why not? And if so, which is your favorite title? _________________ "You can quote me on that." - Gray |

Good, amzing, keep you playing for hours. I could never, probably would never, put Final Fantasy Tactics down. Unfortunately, there was homework and stuff to be done and I couldn't finish it. *sigh* |

A couple of weeks ago I bought Final Fantasy Tactics (for the playstation, not GBA) .... I LOVE IT!
I actually quite enjoy thinking about strategies, formations, and the best way to win a battle. I like the power.
But yeah, tactics games are fun. ^_^
Unfortunately my FFT game wont work anymore.... so I haven't been able to play it for a while. But my oldest brother said he'd replace it for me, so it's all good. |

well, I got the PS one and the GBA one. I love them both. Oh, and Fire Emblem was awesome too *_* Actually, they aren't that different from RPGs. Most of them concentrate on the storylines pretty well. The only difference is you have to think about your attacks and moves. It's a change, but a good challenge. |

I was thinking of getting the GBA one... is it kinda like the one for playstation? If you had to choose one over the other, which one would you pick?
Yeah, I like the challenges that the games give. |

well, the storylines are different, but the battle system are similar. Plus the names are the same. I personally like the one for GBA, but that's just me. |

too long and repetitive. final fantasy tactics i found to be way too easy since it levels up far too quickly. essentially battles began becoming one-sided in my favor, even durring the intense boss fights. once you get to the point where your characters are unstoppable there really is no point in continuing to play since you'll just do the same stuff over and over again.
i prefer 2d games over 3d, at least i know the camera won't crap out on me.
but on a positive note, they are fun while they last. |

well, that's why you don't go around fighting pointless battles. You move on in the storyline, and finish up the game. Then you battle pointless battles, cept this time you get Ritz and the others. ^_^ |

I love Final Fantasy Tactics, and FFT Advanced for the GBA. I've beat them both. But even though I play FFTA more, I think I like the one for PS better.
On FFTA theres different races, so thats a plus.
I love the law cards and the laws that were added in that game. Its fun cause it changes your strategy.
But on a downside, the story wasn't that complex as the first one, and this one didn't take that long to beat.....even though I still have like 33 missions left to go.
But it does have alot of characters to unlock.
On FFT, there may only be one race, but there is a huge varity of classes...and you can chose your sex..so that kinda makes up for it.
The story line is way more complex and confusing. I love it.
And even though there are no law cards, the varity of enemys still sorta makes you change your strategy from time to time.
But out of the two...I vote Final Fantasy Tactics for PlayStation. X3 _________________ "You can quote me on that." - Gray |

Been playing Final Fantasy Tactics a bit myself lately.
The class/abilities system can make for some tough battles early on, especially if you don't know what you're doing. (My older sister was having no luck with using items)
Figuring out the battle system and planning moves strategically is key to success. I just made it through that mission where you attack the cabin in the desert (seven or eight enemies inside, and you have only six units to fight with). Might have been easier if Delita and Algus didn't just rush on in through the two doors like they did... forcing enemies to fight in an enclosed space always makes battles easier.
It took several tries, since the enemy forces would tend to stay in the hut for a few rounds until Delita and Algus are KO'd, then with no one in the entranceways, they'd more or less spill out and overwhelm my team. The final time was a little different, suffered a few KO's but somehow managed to emerge victorious.
FFT's class system reminds me of Final Fantasy 5, in a way, in that you have to pick your support abilities very carefully. Go into a battle with the wrong preparations . . . and you can look forward to a quick defeat. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Yeah, I kinda wish they'd make a remake or sequel for PS2.
But there's Nippon Ichi's Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and LaPucelle Tactics.
Both games are good, but it takes a LOOOOONG time to level up characters(I like to have armies) |

*sigh* you guys are overachievers. Ii just run in and hash and slack like mad, for the most part. Of course you have to take the enemy's stregnth, level, and number into consideration. I never had problems with any of the fights. ^^ |

Yeah, I'm not that much of a tactical peson either. I usually pic my weakest characters, send them in(so they can level up) unless ofcourse the enemy is pretty strong...then I'll use some strategy and send in the right people.
I also have that game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, I love that game! But its very hard! _________________ "You can quote me on that." - Gray |

Anyone tried Front Mission 3? That game rules, I got addicted to that game ages ago and I still haven't got all the secrets yet.
My mate's got Age of Empires 2 and he enjoys playing it a lot, anyone know if it's any good? _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |
