Might want to mention you're talking about Amy Lee, not the entire band. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Ew. Yuck, Evanescence. Sorry about that, but they're music is waaaaay too mellow. It's funny, how people consider them to be considered 'metal'.
Somehow i get the feeling that Evanescence ripped off Lacuna Coil. They sound pretty simular. The name meanings are even simular too. Evanescence means to 'fade' or 'disappear', and Lacuna Coil means 'to fade into nothingness', or something around that meaning.
No mean to offend ;p |

They do sound a lot like Lacuna Coil, only LC are better. And for whoever threw a bitch fest last time I said that, I didn't say LC are the new Led Zeppelin or that I even like them. Purely that they're better than Evanescence.
And being "mellow" or "boring" is the least of their problems. Her vocals are digitally enhanced, for one thing. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

well, duuuuuuh. nearly every artist (if not every) has their voice digitally enhanced on albums.
she's not entirely toooooo bad live, she sounds suprisingly similar to what she sounds like on her albums, but it's still noticible her vocals are enhanced on the album. |

I just don't like how all of their songs seem to blend one right into another and then you don't even know what you're listening to. Their songs sound way too much alike and there's no variety. The angst and saddness gets boring after awhile.
I used to love Evanescence when I was a Freshman. I used to listen to that Fallen album everyday durring art class. But after awhile it got boring and I did hear her live and she didn't sound great. Maybe it was an off day for her but either way it just didn't sound like the album at all. Plus they haven't done anything for awhile. Even with the breakup of their guitarist they should probably find someone to replace him otherwise fans are going to get tired of waiting.

Not to stick up for Amy or anything (I'm not, trust me) but lets face it, its f*cking hard for a woman to make it in the rock business. Its bad enough that were objectified in most groups (not that I mind. Its what makes rock fun.) but rock has been known to be a "man's world." I mean, there's only a handful of women who have truely made it. I'm sure when producers heard Amy Lee, they thought she could make it and just to ensure it, they enhanced her voice digitally. Happens to all women performers sadly. A man can be as raw with his music as he can but women don't really have that same luxery (and really suceed that is.) _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Yeah, your probably right! But still, Amy Lee isn't anything special. I mean, HOW many times has the entire 'goth and sadistic' theme with a women's voice has been done already?
You can't say the same for Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy. She has one of the most insane, impressive, growler voices ever heard for a female metal (or anything for that matter) singer. Just as brutal and raw as a male singer...it's pretty awesome! |

No shit, genius. It's part of production. Look, I'm not even going to really get into this again because fangirls come out of the wooodwork to drool on her shoes, but her voice is enhanced beyond the simple "cleaning up" that is needed when recording someone. Believe it or stay in denial, all the same to me.
But when people wet themselves over how amazing her voice is when it isn't even really her.... _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I love Evanescence!! I listen to the songs all the time!!!! _________________ It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.
How long did it take my brother to defeat those characters using Yoshi? Two minutes.
I like to obsess over stuff. Here are all the things I'm obsessing over:
Song: Seize the Day by Default
Anime: D.Gray Man
Anime character(s): Kanda
Video Game: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Video Game character: Wolf O-Donnell from Star Fox Assault
OC: Ray Eclrida, copyright of me (duh!)

I don't like their music, but I've read some interviews with Amy Lee and she seems like a pretty smart cookie. A quote from her:
"If I was locked in a room with Britney Spears, I would choke her with her own corset and die her hair back to its original colour, which is puke green." _________________ |

Not that I don't agree with what she said, but Amy's a fine one to talk about an altered image... _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

They're ok, not every one hates the band. They're alright, Amy tis be cool, she the whole face of the band, prolly why ppl talk bout her and not the whole band, well that's what goes on in my school.
Some songs are cool, some are not. and Lacuna coil sucks cock! that tis be my opinion... _________________ Wyat Fucking Earp! |

Wow, mind blowing opinion there. Yeah, I can totally see how that's a valid reason.

Another reason why I don't like "the band." Its more like Amy Lee along with some nameless guitarists and bassits and a drummer. <_< I like it when everyone in a band gets equal attention (well, at least more than what Evanescence band members get. You don't even see them in music videos if not for a few seconds.) _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |
