So...

Who is your favorite established (published) artist(s), and how do they affect the way you draw?

Meaning... is there any particular stylistic thing that you've taken and intigrated into your own style? Any lessons or hints you've picked up from their art? Anything they've done that's inspired you?

Myself, I've always like the stuff done by Bill Everett (most notably Sub-Mariner, but other things as well). His own style was cartoony and easy to read, and facial expressions were always stellar. Even in books where he had to adhere to the "house style", he was always able to slip in a little of that cartooniness that made his stuff so great. I remember reading a reprint of the first Sub-Mariner story in some trade paperback and thinking how perfect the forms were, how much care he'd taken to use the toned paper, and how much the little details mattered, even in a long shot. But I was also stuck on how cartoony everything looked, and yet was able to still look undeniably real.

When I started drawing, I wanted to be able to reach that level -- to be able to do something not quite true to life, but still hold that feeling of being straight out of the real world. I'm still aiming for that, but trying is halfway there.

hm, well, my art is influenced more by pictures I see rather then the artists themselves. I went to a museum once and saw this amazing landscape picture, and all I drew the whole week were different landscapes. Sometimes, I don't even have the faintest clue who drew a certain picture. ^^;;

I have been affected by mutsumi inomata's style an anime artist, i find her style quite girly..pretty stuff, i like that! suddenly i started drawing like her x_x but i tried to put something into it that would make it unique and a bit different, but yea i guess i draw like her in some ways still, fluffy hair, ribbons and cute girly stuff.

my art style is influenced by mostly doujinshi circles. First off is Yubinbasya. I LOVE the artwork they draw. i especially like the exagerated and 'stretched-out' style they she draws characters in. another doujin circle is blue lynx, they draw alot of dbz doujins..and they also got a breathtaking art style.

I also like Kris Metzen. He is a warcraft artist. he influenced my art style because i loved the heavy, thick, impacting lines he uses.

there is more...but I can't remember them all right now ^^;

Rei Omishii ^^ he's been one of my favorites for years!
(he's the artist of Bakuretsu Hunters)

His style is so versatile! He can do really serious stuff with it or totally bizarre comedy images!
I love his anatomy and his character designs (not to mention clothes) ^^ He's probably one of my greatest influences!

Yoshihiro Togashi.
No kidding o.o seriously.
He's the author/artist of manga such as Yuu Yuu Hakusho & Hunter X Hunter ^^

One of the biggest influences I got from him is to just draw. It's not going to look perfect and sometimes it may look REALLY funny if you pay attention to it, but you can tell what the picture is and you're having fun!

^^ He's awesome!!

I have another...her name escapes me at the moment.... She's the artist/author of Please Save My Earth. ^^
Her style isn't that pretty...but she can portray really strong emotions with her characters, compositioning, etc ^^ she's a great influence!
