Where's The Thread For General Site Suggestions?

Let me say it right...in my idea 6.0, I meant to have a 'next' and 'previous' option on the actual page of a picture. Not the sections page, duh.

in idea 8.0... I mean log in/register links and text boxes, so we can login from there, I meant to say you can add it to every page, and put it under the catagory list.

Idea 9.1: How about sections. A member can create different sections in their gallery. Take me, for example, I draw many people/portraits, but I also draw alot of comic stuff too. Instead of mixing them all together, I can create a section in my gallery called "comics" where all my comic stuff will go. And the same can go for my portraits. Sounds like too much. Is it do-able? even in the distant future?

And where the heck [i]is[/i] everyone? Stratadrake hasn't left an outstanding and weird but sensable suggestion since I've been back!

That's because I've proposed like 90% of the suggestions in this thread.

New idea, you know how when viewing an artist's gallery you have three pages of info? Gallery/profile/thumbnails. I was once thinking what about (dare I say) a more dA style system?

Say, for example (and I'm just going to make up some URL names out of the blue) . . .

user.php?aid=_____ - general user gallery page, with both pics and fics listed.
artist.php?aid=_____ - user's artist gallery (listed pics only)
author.php?aid=_____ - user's author gallery (stories only)
profile.php?aid=_____ - user bio information & profile comments
faves.php?aid=_____ - user's favorites information (with thumbnail option for pics)
thumbpics.php?aid=_____ - user's artist gallery as thumbnails

Then the links at the top of the user pages could be a tablike setup with one button for each. Oh, a few ways to help it could also be:

- No need for "empty" links. If an artist has no pictures, no stories, or no faves, the links to those pages could simply be not displayed.

new planned feature (somewhat like the last suggestion) friendly URLs.

I plan to replace some of the thing like pictures.php?pid=xxxx with stuff like pictures/xxxx.html to be more friendly to search spiders.

I remember how FF.net switched to friendlier (and shorter) URL formats many months ago....

So, you mean stuff like a user's main gallery page looking like:

Another idea.

Denis, what if you add BMP rejection to linked images? I spotted an artist today who is new, but all of their images (Photobucket links) are BMP's. While this doesn't tax FAC's space or bandwidth, it does take its toll on slower connections like my modem.

Additionally, I've spotted this message on various occasions, does it mean anything?

Edit, I think I found the picture and it looks ok. Either whoever broke it noticed and fixed it, or it was some weird random database glitch.

I've noticed that the FAC banner logo gets cropped sometimes. I wish I had taken a screenshot, but back during the Christmas season with holiday Sam & Pheral, Sam was always being cropped (and you could only see the sleigh).

Also, I noticed a picture the other day in the recent thumbs list, apparently somebody went crazy with the content advisories. You know the code you have for displaying a picture's content advisories, could you add spaces to the comma delimiters? The table listing was padded out to a rather wide width the other day because of that....

Another quick scoop from the ideas bin, I was scanning through a particular fanfic earlier and I realized, it would be pretty handy to have "previous" and "next" buttons for moving between adjacent chapters quicker than with the dropdown list.

Idea 10.0: How about another list in our profiles, included with the "fatorite artists" and "favorite pictures/stories", this one could be our recommended fanart that we have done ourselves. Example: I have a list in my profile called "I Recommend",or something close to that. And I can fill that list with my best fanart. The work that I've done that I'd want veiwers to see the most. I think that may become a fan favorite, because it will not just be a good conveinence to veiwers, but also get our member profiles page more hits. I like people to get to know me a little more. Make more friends that way. I myself always try to comment on a persons profile when I comment on one of their works. And actually, I do most of my comments on profiles rather than pictures or stories, its more personal that way.
I know one of the problems might be members adding ALL their artwork to the list, but then who cares, I've seen, and I'm sure most members have seen someone with a TOO LONG list of fav artists and pics. Even if it bothers you, maybe you can make it possible to have us be able to have just 5 pics or stories on our list.

P.S. I like Fahari's idea about the newbie thing. Wish It was here when I came. Cuz then I'd be able to go back and see how much of a newbie I was when I first got here.

The "recommended" idea has some interesting potential. I would recommend limiting that idea to just ONE picture from the entire gallery -- like "Personal Favorite" or something. There could even be an option on the submit/edit picture forms for designating that as one's personal fave....

Right, but what if someone encounters the burden of choice (yes, choice can be a burden). What if you have...say... 118 pictures or stories, which you do, as of Thursday, March 17, 2005, and you consider more than a few to be your favorite or best. Or if you can't decide which picture or story to recommend because more than one is a picture or story that defines you and not just one picture or story will ever be able to say "this is me, this is who I am". Sorry, just posted many-a-posts and I'm still wired up. I suggest 3 at the least. Thnx for your interest, tho (mortal enemy) Grr!

Must sleep... Their will be work to do when I wake. It will not get done if I do not get it done.

Don't want to even [i]remotely[/i] allow people to recommend/personally fave their entire galleries, after all...

Their profile would have a list of # their recommended pictures, and once the list is full, the next of their pictures they recommend bumps the last one off the list.
