It's more a matter of the lead singer always gets the attention, regardless of gender. Most people can name the lead singer of Aerosmith or Led Zeppelin or Van Halen, but they can't name anyone else. Maybe the lead guitarists (especially in Van Halen's case), but that's it.

A female singer may get a slight amount more attention from the male audience (but I don't see them as having much of a male fanbase to begin with).

Amy tis be cool, she the whole face of the band, prolly why ppl talk bout her and not the whole band, well that's what goes on in my school.
Another reason why I don't like "the band." Its more like Amy Lee along with some nameless guitarists and bassits and a drummer. <_< I like it when everyone in a band gets equal attention (well, at least more than what Evanescence band members get. You don't even see them in music videos if not for a few seconds.)
yeah, that's a that sad part, I know. See it seems to me that all the songs are somehow related to the leadsinger. right? I mean dude, konda obvious in a way...

Don't make me quote all the negative posts. Come on. Most replies on this thread have been negative. I didn't say "all".

Reading comprehension please. Kthxbai.

I like Evanesence. It's my fav. band and my fav song would have to be Whisper.
I agree with Amy Lee on what she said about Brittany Spears.

No s**t, i think everyone in the topic agrees with amy lee.

I only like one song on their entire cd and it's not even frickin' metal which annoys me completely because I only, normally like metal. Number 7 I think it is, paper flowers. Probably because I don't -really- live in the real world so it kind of applies to me.

:/

I used to love them to death, but now I just get severely depressed when I listen to them. I know it's digitally enhanced, but I still give Amy Lee props for being able to hold out a high note that long. (See 'Hello'.) Anyways, they're a little too angsty and plain for me.

i quite like evanesence , although they arent my fav , i still listen to it all the time .
her vocals may be digitally enhanced , but whose arent ? i only ever really listen to 6 of their songs ,everybodys fool , imaginary , bring me to life , hello, my last breath and immortal . apart from the fact that the songs do kind of merge together and they do sound similar to each other, all in all i think theyre quite good .

Argh. . . . .

I am not (re-NOT) talking about typical enhancing. It's a given that when you record a voice, it takes work to make it sound like it actually does. Little imperfections caused by technology and the sound being a little warped. A horribly amplified example is the difference between talking and hearing your voice recorded on a cheap computer mic. There's feedback, background noise, interference, and an overall distortion of the sound. That can all be adusted digitally to return a person's voice to how it should sound.

That is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about taking someone's voice and digitally making it sound better than they can actually sing. Boosting the range, fixing a note/tone they can't hit, and smoothing over the sound to improve it. Making it sound different than the person can sing themselves.

Yes, it happens in pretty much all pop music, and that's no excuse.
