Ralph Bakshi's "Lord of the Rings". That movie was awful, the lighting wasn't consistent, and taken by itself, the plot made no sense at all. It didn't even tell the entire story!
I've never read the books, but Jackson's version of LOTR was very awesome.

Constantine.
ARRRRRRGH!
I loved Books of Magic. I loved Hellblazer. But... that movie did not live up to my expectations. Granted, taken on it's own, away from any knowlege of the book, it was okay. But knowing how good the book was...!

My older sister has a theory about this... something like when you've read the book first, NO movie based on that book will EVER live up to your expectations of it.
And that if you've seen the movie first, vice versa doesn't necesarily apply, but you'll geet visualizing the actors' faces on those characters and such when you read the book.... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Id have to go with "Call of the wild"
And where the red fern grows.
You mean that lotr cartoon version that was half movie, half cartoon, half really bad movie, half really bad specail effects. half.........*brain explodes*
I thought it was more of a comedy (when the orks foot went half way through the hobbit)
They shouldnt have tried to combine the first 2 books into one movie. |

First and foremost in my mind is Queen of the Damned. Interview with the Vampire turned out all right in movie form, but QotD was a bloody nightmare. >.<
Trying to stick two books into one movie...then changing major parts of it...*shivershudder*
There were a few scenes I liked...well, one. (At th' very end..."Hello, David"...^^ That line had me grinning for hours. Th' accent was just...^____^ I found it hilarious, despite the fact that th' whole Marius/David thing was one thing that was jarringly wrong, compared to th' book)
A few of th' actors were pretty cool. *nods* Like Akasha...
*blinks, realizing her ramblingness*
^^"
Hee. When I watched HP, I annoyed my mom by pointing every single thing different from the book. ^^
A couple that weren't TOO bad were the movies made from the Thomas Harris books (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal). SotL was really good in my opinion. Hannibal was good too, although I highly preferred the book ending.
Another one that wasn't bad, not great, but not bad is Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. There were a few weird things thrown in (the amulet?), but overall, it was (if I remember correctly) fairly faithful. Well animated. The movie sequel was weird.
That's really all that comes to mind...right now. ^^ Mebbe I'll look through my shelves, find some more. ^^

yeah I know what you mean about the Harry Potter movies. only I wasn't the one being annoying. Me n' one of my friends went to go see the third movie in theaters. And she wouldn't stop telling her mom what was the same and what was different about the book. I was just about ready to chop her head off. But I'm her friend, so I didn't. ^_^ |

I'm half way through the Hitchiker's Guide of the Galaxy series right now, and it's so amazing. In fact, the better it gets, the more I doubt a bastardly company like Disney will be able to pull it off :/ even if they do have the amazing Tim from The Office.
As for Harry Potter. The first book was so bad, and the first two movies were so bad altogether that the only reason I saw the third one was because it had Garry Oldman in it, who has very rarely disappointed me. After she stops writing for little kids, I found her books became rather entertaining, actually. So, obviously, I liked the movie quite a bit. I don't really care that they left things out, because those things are necessary for the plot of the 5th book. So it can naturally be assumed that they will be included in this movie or the next.
HP fans need to stop being so whiney They haven't suffered like us Lord of the Rings fans. |

^We've suffered plenty, thank you very much. <_< B)
And back on topic, how about the movie version of Roald Dahl's book The Witches?! They ruined it with that horrible ending! I mean, the whole point of the book was that his grandmother loved him no matter what, whether he was a boy or a mouse. _________________ |
