As you might know, I'm a star ocean fanatic. No actualy, I'm more of a raving, obssesive, compulsive, crazed lunatic when it comes to the SO series. Then I realized a shocking truth. MOST OF YOU PEOPLE HAVE NEVER PLAYED SO 1 or 2. Only the third one, till the end of time. Soooo, I've taken the liberty of finding a good site for SO 1. I'm still working on SO 2 but anyways, this site gives you translation for the intro (since Star Ocean 1 was only in japnese...I think. I haven't found and english one yet) and the walkthroughs include the cutscenes so you can follow along and get a basic idea what the game is about.

Okay, Rita, SO expert! You've already finished 1-3,yes? I have a question!
Is there any Battle Trophy for 300, 500, or 1000 bonus battle chains?
or the same numbers for consecutive killing blows or battles alone or anything that involves these kinds of large numbers?
If there is, please tell me so I can install a permanent pillow in my seat. This things take lots of time, you know? like 7 hours or so.
Rita, help me! I'll be your drawing buddy! AHHH!!!
*crosses fingers*
No really, I'll be your drawing buddy*sinister snicker*
Just help me, please. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. But of a humble heart, the Lord wil not scorn, and from its abundance the mouth speaks.

ok ok, calm down, now as for battle trophies, you do know a similar rewards system is used in every game. In other words, which game are you talking about, 1, 2, or 3. |

Today is another day, so I've calmed down. Thanks for acknowledging. I'm talking about the third title: Till the End of Time.
I've earned the "100" rewards already for battles, whether they were chains or consecutive with no damage or alone,etc.. I dont know if there is a "300" or "500" reward for these kinds of battles.
I'm still proggressing through level 13 at Whipple. Since the enemies there are not a burden, I figured I could get as many trophies I could get my hands on which involve large annoying numbers.
Well, are there any?
Hmmm...this was my bad. I should've just looked at gamefaqs....
Sorry if I consumed your time. But, if you insist on telling me I cant stop you.
Thanks anyway, Rita. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. But of a humble heart, the Lord wil not scorn, and from its abundance the mouth speaks.

*Sigh* well since I've got some time. Yes I'm pretty sure there's a reward for 350 or something and one for over 1000 I'm not EXACTLY sure since I just tried out different things till I got rewards. There is a reward for fighting the same type of enemy 50 times or something. |

well, if you have adray, and you sent nel into space, that's actually a coding for future characters. Don't let adray onto you team, and I'm not sure, but I know in one of my games, I DID get pepitta and abel, not sure if I got them before or after moonbase. You can run a search on yahoo for walkthroughs. I'm sure they have more info. |

well in terms of graphics, no. But the storylines, sidequests, extra endings, etc, yeah. I think the game designers got lazy after 3 games. I know adray becomes a permenant member later, but if you don't get adray, you should be able to get abel and adray and pepitta, not sure, I'll have to check. |

do I annoy you? You should get used to it. I'm the annoying type. Though I'm pretty harmless.
Just get used to my personality. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. But of a humble heart, the Lord wil not scorn, and from its abundance the mouth speaks.

well, the first game, I found the storyline very good, the graphics were good for a game of that age, also, I liked the battle system, it was a good chalenge. Also, I like the second story mainly because of the stroyline. I also liked how you can get different ending and cutscenes depending on events, not many games do that. |

I honestly love the Star Oceans. I can't really comment on Second Story (because I've only seen EX and I haven't actually played the game) but I really like the first game and TtEoT.
The storylines were all right. I thought that the first game's story was a little more intriguing than the third one; that one melted my brain after I got to the 4D Space stuff. ;_; At least, they were more interesting than the Final Fantasies, in which the plots are becoming quite cliched.
Another reason is because of the open endings. I think the PA system is a really innovative idea, especially since it effects which ending you'll get. This makes the replay value really high, I think. Not only that, but the item creation ability. It's really fun to experiment with, and, this way, it doesn't cost you 10,000,000 fol to get all the super-awesome weapons you want. ;
Half the time I was creating something in SO3 was just because I wanted to watch their expressions. XD
I'm not too worried about the random battles in SO1, but I guess that's because I never ran into them very often. In SO3, it was changed so there weren't any random battles, and that was even better (although I still fought all the enemies because it's good training. :3 ).
I suppose the battle system is a different experience for each person, but I enjoyed it. It's much more realistic than many rpgs' turn-based system (which irritated me so much: yeah, in real life, your enemy is going to wait for you before they attack, despite the fact that they want to kill you oh-so badly. ; ). This way, you can also control whether your attacks connected or not as well as whether the enemy misses you or not: it's all up to how you control the character and not up to chance, like most generic RPGs. Also, the battles end much more quickly: the final boss battle (in SO1) only took me less than a few minutes to finish. In comparison to any given FF boss battle (I'm looking at you, Ultimecia. ><), I'd say this is a really good thing.
I was okay with only controlling on character at a time; for that kind of battle system, it makes sense. Besides, I could just switch to another character and have them do something if I needed it. I thought the different AI settings were pretty good, too. Usually, it did all right, and I know you can do AI training in SO3, as well, so you can fix up any flaws it might have.
Um. My brain just melted. Oh well. ^^; _________________
