I've always been loyal. I heard about DA long before I became an internet junkie. But when I decided to put a portfolio up, I went searching long and hard to find a place that is perfect for me. I found so many places, but when browsing throughout those sites, I found things that bothered me. I never thought of going to DA, tho. I'm not exactly sure why, but I found Fanart Central first. It was the place.
You can look at my sig, there's no DA link or any other link to any other art site out there (no disrespect to those FAC members who do have them, tho), you know why? because I need not look further. Like I said, I'm loyal, a pain-in-the-ass/arse sometimes, but I got your back if you need me.
Denis lets us help him with suggestions to improve this site. Fanart Central will be, and IS, better than DA. DA will always be the same and never improve. And with it's member count rising, it will just get worse. It's like walking backwards, while FAC is RUNNING foward.
so to the coward who bashes and flees
I never back down. Even when I'm wrong, I stand firm and look good being wrong. Might as well, I'd rather look good being wrong than look bad being wrong.
...You, child, look horribly bad being terribly wrong. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

hmm, only 9 years old. that explains the lack of maturity. by facing the turth, you mean that this site is just sooo awful? you're posting an insulting topic on a site hudreds like. maybe you don't like FAC, but you should have thought about how many of us do, & how many people are ready to tell you off. I've been to DA, and if you're going to dedicate a topic in the forums purely to bashing FAC, moderators are likely to remove the post. it's alright to express your opinion, just not so rudely. maybe you'll learn to be a little more tactful as you get older. |

Sorry that I can't find a better way to say it, but....
Grow up. Live a little. Then you'll realize why most of the complaints you've given us are ultimately minor issues, if not entirely moot to begin with. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Oh, god honey ^^ that made me laugh like no other.
No offense T_T but truth-be-told...."Marit" was a huge dramaqueen. She was "leaving FAC" every-other-week
She's got talent, but to go so far as "legendary"?
(she didn't seem to popular on recent image board submissions @.@;; )
Anyway, as for us being "old bags" T.T great, come back and talk to us when YOU'RE 19. I'll lend you my cane
You shouldn't even be ON the internet until your 13.... You don't really have enough worldly experience (as is evident from your posts....) |

I second what Raymei says. Nine years old, that's . . . what, third grade? No offense when I say this, RedAngelKat, but you simply don't have enough experience to be in a debate.
It's a lot easier to turn friends into enemies than it is to turn enemies into friends. So when you go and make a first impression on people, you should try to make it a good one, okay? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Yeah, dA's "media first" category system downright stinks. If I want to look for, say, artwork of gryphons, why should I have to look through up to five different categories, each of which has thousands of pictures?
Never mind the search-function rant.... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I've been to DA, and I'm going to tell you baby-cakes, I didn't see one f**king decent artist! I don't know where the hell YOU were looking <_< I'm sure it has it's share of good artists, but it also has it's share of crappy ones.
I suppose I'm biased because I'm become accustomed to FAC's wonderfully cozy and generally friendly enviroment. I've made many friends easily on here, and many fans of my artwork. But, in my opinion, DA is nothing great.
Basically, what I'm saying is- If you came here only to bash this website, than leave. Go to DeviantArt. We DON'T CARE.
I'd go much more into deviant art, but everyone else got here before me and covered everything
for your information i was looking at marits work. the legendery DazedPink that left..and wot about yoshidreamknight, darkraven1911 and some otheres?
theres many..lots of people left this place to go to devuant art so i don't care anymore bout thiiis place so i leave to put some art up there and insult fac in devaint froum with all te other deviant memebers.
its funny how deviant say exactly the same things aboyt fac..
well im off now so tats my last reply for good. (maybe...........................................)
I feel sorry for DA, they have a stupid asshole member like you who can't get their facts straight or keep their trap shut. And they run at the site of a flame...PATHETIC. If you want to leave, get out now. |

The user was suspended. So...they won't see your comments for awhile.
I love DA's organization because it's not based on subject matter. Especially for traditional artists in a time when digital gets a lot of attention. I don't see what's so complicated about it, considering you can use google for a better search than the DA one is. If it were subject matter based, people would bitch and moan that they can't find paintings or sculptures when they want to. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Actually, I think it would be nice to have a dual category system -- one by media and one by subject matter.
Like, say, the category heirarchy could be internally divided into "subject" categories and "media" categories. Both can be shown on the sidebar at the same time for easy user navigation.
Then, when submitting art, there are two category select boxes, one for the "subject" category and one for the "media" category -- a submission could have one of each. Then the picture effectively shows up in two places: one for what the subject matter is, and one for the type of media it is.
But -- damn, that would require a LOT of design & coding to actually implement . . . . _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I have planned for a long time a multiple category system (media, series/origional, etc.)
but with over 100,000 existing pics it becomed more and more hard to impliment, because to do it well, all existing pics would also need to be categorized. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

We could ask people to delete a couple of there pics and repost them later? That would be a nightmare too though...I think FAC's ok the way it is. If you need help categorizing the anime/manga section, I could help. Or you could do it one section at a time, like first do the anime/manga section, then books, then movies, etc |

You know what I think? No, but I think in the Anime,Manga section, a bunch of those pictures could be going in originals, don't you think, I mean so each main section that leadds off to many others could ,be clear, right? |

Actually, I think the "Original" section is already over-used. It's kinda like the "Misc" category -- a catch-all for whatever doesn't fit in any of the more specific categories.... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I was reading the very first post, & one of the things RedAngelkinza said was that it takes dozens of hours for a picto be approved. did it get faster, or is it just me? ^_^ I submitted a pic earlier & around 2 minutes later it had been approved. is the fast approval rate one of the things that denis has been working on? |

There is a system I added a while ago that gradually increases the approval speed, but also part of it is the AP team has been working harder lately. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

I heard theres certain people that you trust or something, and their art doesn't have to be checked for approval because they can be trusted. Is that true? It'd only make sense cause when I put up art it takes no time for it to be approved. |

It's called "auto approval", and yes, it is true. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
