Does Ashlee Simpson even count as a singer? I'm proud of audiences for giving her the treatment she deserves.
Aaaaanyway... Singer or frontman? Worst vocalist or worst performer? Meh, I'll only include the really bad ones.
Ashlee Simpson
Hilary Duff
Britney Spears
Jessica Simpson
Avril Lavigne
Amy Lee
JoJo
Lindsey Lohan
Justin Timberlake
Any other member of a boyband
Tiffany
Debbie Gibson (haven't heard her lately...meh. Bubblegum child years at least)
Any American Idol performer (by principles)
Chester whatever his last name is, sounds like a teddy bear, linkin park dude
99% of nu-punk frontmen. I don't bother with their names. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

A lot of them suck as singers, in that there's absolutely nothing special about them. Glorified karaoke singers. It takes a lot more than a pretty voice to be a good singer, and a "pretty voice" isn't even required. It's about being unique and standing out among the thousands of other decent singers. A lot of the best frontmen of all time weren't the best technical singers as far as range or strength or tone. It was the sound of their voice and the phrasing and feeling they put into it that made them great vocalists.
American Idol performers have shallow voices that are nothing but pretty. The songs aren't theirs, and they've done nothing to earn their career, so what do they have to put into it? American Idol performers are living examples of everything wrong with pop idols. It's removing everything except the "pretty" factor.
It's like doing a competetion for best guitarist, and the only requirement is to be able to play Eddie Van Halen's body of work the best. Would playing Eruption flawlessly make someone the best guitarist, on par with Edward? Of course not, because it's the writing and feeling that make it so good, on top of the plain skill. Eddie is an idol, the rest a talented copy with no demonstration of originality. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

wow...I couldn't have said it better myself! you pretty much summed up the crap of a show called 'American Idol'. Which reminds me, that the HECK of a name is that anyway? i mean, what an insult. 'American Idol'...geez what about the thousands out there who got nothing to do with it, those wannabes in that show arn't thier idols. What an insult!

Yup, true. While I do watch the show for entertainmen value (and for Simon Cowell's nasty comments ) I know better than any fan of the show that these people will fade into oblivion within the next six months.
Think about it, when was the last time you heard about Ruben Studdard? Who, by the way, sucks. He can sing like three notes. _________________ |

I think the funniest part was during the first season. All the obsessive fans of whatever member was their favorite would drool on and on about how great that person is. "OMG they're gonna be, like, famous 4ever!" Especially the fans of the ugly guy who lost, with the white boy 'fro. "Even if he doesn't win, he's gonna be famous cuz his fans won't desert him!"
And where is he now. Oops, gone. Along with the rest of 'em.
But of course, it's all a way for Simon's label to make a sickening amount of money as quickly as possible. He owns those kids that win. I'd love to know what kind of deal they think they're getting, 'cause I'm sure it's a lot different than what they "win". _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. ah if only we lived in the back in the day. where in operas, the singers were merely a means of projection. the true skill of the composer was recognized.
i think today many people mistake the projection of the music with the music itself. its the not the music you love anymore, its the messenger. |

Was it Britney Spears? I forgot. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. But of a humble heart, the Lord wil not scorn, and from its abundance the mouth speaks.

Gwen Stephony, or however you spell her name, I can't stand her 'music'. "If I was a rich girl, na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na!!!!" Gah! I've been cursed to all eternity just by hearing that s**t once.
I despise Avril as well, and any other modern-day chick-singers. |

Gwen Stefani... well if you're only listening to her new dance stuff I can see why you wouldn't like it, but you should really listen to the early No Doubt albums like Tragic Kingdom and The Return of Saturn. They're excellent. _________________ |

Averill Lavigne? (Is that how you spell it?)
Hillary Duff
And that red head, who for some reason I can never remember her name...
Most pop-punk, and R&B singers, except I respect the R&B singers, because most of them have dignity.
