I'm lookin' forward to the PS3. I've been an exclusive Sony fan for a loooong time. (Since '98? Huh.)

I hope that PS3 will have backwards combatibility, like the PS2. I'm also expecting some real high-quality graphics... and more RPGs! Gawd! There doesn't seem to be enough RPGs these days!

Hopefully some reasonably priced, integrated broadband capabilities. None of this having to buy a modem jive. The companies really need to make more games online, though. Only the very popular games get online multiplayer, while us 2D fighting game fans get the shaft.

In terms of graphics, I expect a large increase in minor details and particle effects. Weather and such, details like that. For example, the wind blowing dust around, flies swarming in certain areas, heat waves, etc. Lots of background effects.

Hard drives with decent space. And an OS, something like Windows's or Mac's. A desktop, icons, like on a PC. I really hope PS3 will be able to play different types of audio and video files. I've got several movies in .mpeg format and I would cream my pants if PS3 let me play them on the television.

I don't think there will be a ps3 soon. I think this years thing from sony is the PsP.

I saw the PS3 prototypes in one site(forgot the name, sorry)....OOHH! cool! Some even looked like ships from Starwars. Theyre just prototypes. Too bad*sobs*

I think I saw the release date(or maybe the date for a show)? Was it 2006? Can't remember.......

Go to Google.com, click images, type in PS3. You'll get so many results, that it's not even funny. I've seen silver, gold, blue, black, big ones, small ones I'll stop now. Also check out gamespot too.

This is laughably one-sided. By "soon" I hope you know you're talking about 8-14 months. Sorry to break it to you. :/ Good for them for throwing in better graphics - then again it'll be nothing better than what modern computers will be able to produce.

Just a heads up, Microsoft and Hironobu Sakaguchi signed a contract to make X-box 2 exclusive titles. That totally pwns since he's the creator of the Final Fantasy series. Convert now.

PS3 and Revolution (no one gives an ass about Nintendo, I suppose) will both be backwards compatible. Don't wory. Oh yeah, don't trust any of the "leaked concept models" of the next-gen consoles. Their all just bullshit. Wait like, a month and you'll see your damn console. People... no patience...

yer cant beat the 3d graphics even though i do like the 2d graphics ive still got my SNES

The thing is, game developers are going to have to keep coming up with new ideas and features to keep us interested. It's all very well if we can see the characters show emotion at levels unheard of before, or be involved in boss battles on scales that go far beyond anything so far. But if gameplay isn't going to improve along with anything else then there isn't much point in trying to make the next big jump in gaming.

Each gaming developer/company has a different philosophy on games. If I were to pick the console companies, here's what their philosophies are:

Sony: Out to make a multimedia center that doesn't just play games, but music, movies and a load of extra crap.

Microsoft: Pushing power and evolving technology is what the people want.

Nintendo: Touching is good. Err... Inoviation is the path to the future!
