| I don't know why my computer won't let me post at all. It's so annoying- I have gone to all the sites they've recommended but they don't work. All I've seen is the repeated "No data error" every time I try to post. Which is a shame because my Bill Clinton should be seenin the "Real People" section. |

well sorry strata so....: Maybe if the newbies are only allowed to post in a certain forums till they have enough posts... and they can look at other ones but not post in them... so when they try to post on a forum they are not allowed a pop-up should appear with the message "You are not allowed to post in this forum until you have a certain amount of posts. However you can post in the following forums --------, ---------, -------- and -------" And coolgirlkdd no becasue they can only post in certain forum and a mod should be there to check they are not spaming

Or (and this is just pure evil), maybe we could have a Newbies forum for them to learn about FAC in, but they aren't allowed to even SEE the other forums until like 10 posts or so? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

The idea we're discussing applies only to the FAC forums, and has no effect on the other parts of FAC, namely submitting pictures & stories. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

The thing is people just don't want to be stuck with rules and such.

If you force newbies into a newbie only area, they'll just get turned off and not bother. It's like ostrasizing them.

Putting post limits for posting pictures and starting threads is a better idea. As mentioned before, if they spam, they'll get scolded and they learn.

People don't read those things, sadly.. They just want to get straight to the action..

Yes, Matt, we were all newbies. But they are talking about the ones who don't follow the rules, and spam, and post pictures where they're not needed. You haven't done anything like that...Yet |

One warning for the tantrum.

"Newbie" typically doesn't refer to the member title (it's just a default) as much as new people in general. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I don't really have a problem w/ newbies. it still feels like I was 1 a fews days ago. so, I can't help but feel a little awkward when people talk about newbies spamming & posting stuff where it doesn't belong. if they attach pics to their posts when it's not neccessary, then they should be warned about it. there is a way to edit your posts. & if they don't removed the pic within a certain time, then the post could be deleted by a mod, & it could count against the # of posts a topics they make. same goes for spamming & such. I'm assuming mods have the ability to delete posts, btw. eh, now that I think about it, it does sound a little strict. I mean, people who liked to attach pics with their posts would stay a newbie forever if that were the case. |

We don't delete posts. If I see useless images attached, I simply edit their post and remove the picture (yes we can delete posts and also edit any post made by someone else) and put a warning in a reply. Deleting posts leads to all kinds of problems, especially when you punish someone and all the evidence has been deleted. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C.
