Okay, I typed in the word "name" in my signature and "aid" came up. I kept trying to update it and it wouldn't work. I put in a word other than "name" and it came out the way I had typed it. What is going on? :wacko:

This is possibly just a word restriction Denis has on the board? If you submit a word and it shows as a different word. I can't think why/if 'name' were changed... Let me try..

See, it's not just me. I've figured out that "name" only becomes "aid" when sandwiched in the middle of two words. Here are some examples:

One word:
name

Two words:
name name

Three words:
name aid name

I'm not entirely sure what this means, but I hope it can help.

its a side effect of the forum integration.

The forums user the colum name 'name' to represent the username. FAC used the colum name 'aid' (artist id). to make the user system integrate with the forums I programmed into the forums a translation system for the database queries that convert the colum name to aid.

In this case it seems that the signature text is also in such a query causing the change. Nothing I can really do about it. But due to the numerous problems with the integration, I'll probebly end up replacing the forums.

The new site I'm builing with use phpBB forums software. Depending on how it works out I may use it here as well in the future.

Does ASCII work in forum signatures? E.g., "[i]&#[/i][i]97;[/i]" -> "a" .
