Why does posting in the games section no longer add to your post count???
or is it just a glitch in my computer????

But seriously folks. IMO, some of the games that go on in there ("This or That", "First Thoughts", etc.) are not much more than glorified spam. So last night I asked fallen for her opinion on the matter.

Anyone else care to share theirs?

and um i shure hope it's just an april fools and not a permanent thing

Dont expect such things to count against posts. Post count is for actual intelligent discussion not stuff like games, role-playing, or spam

Post counting in the games section is quite silly.. The vast majority of the posts there are not even worthy of being called 'posts'.

Only good posts I've seen there are ones by forum elders and the thread beginning post.. and also the people who made the posts. Seem to put the most effort into it.

No, the "post count" is really just a number ... a number that typically increments with each post you make (and the admins have the ability to "set" a user's post count to any arbitrary value) .

Game posts no longer count because it's gotten to the point they're the same as spam or roleplay or test. Originally posts in the test forum counted, but then some people posted a lot in there constantly, just spamming (ie "*every smiley* hehe! Testing!").

Post count is mostly used as a status to show how long someone has been here and how active they are in the community. By active in the community, we mean participating in discussions with other users. Seeing someone with 2000 posts when most of the forum has never even seen them before is quite confusing and misleading when 99% of those posts were short game or roleplay posts that didn't contribute to the community at all.

Don't worry about it.

EDIT: And by the way, if I was going to bother with an April Fools joke, it would have been a hell of a lot funnier than turning off the post count in games.
