Brought it on himself. It's one of the things that make me love him so much. Sure, people like Izzy and Steven Adler and Brent Muscat and Stevie Rachelle are respectable. It's great they treat their fans so well, especially in a time much smaller artists than they are treat fans a lot worse. They recognize where they are and appreciate what they have.
But what's more interesting, Faster Pussycat/Adler's Appetite playing little clubs and hanging with fans and all around being cool or Axl throwing a tantrum and assaulting an audience member, starting a riot, or buying weird gas station antiques in Vegas? He's absolutely insane, and that's fascinating. He's never personally screwed me over. Even if I had tickets, I'd know there was a 50/50 chance he'd even show.
So it's nothing to me. It's horrible the way he treats people, but it's great entertainment at the same time.
EDIT: Actually, Steven Adler does go by Stevie sometimes, but I don't think it fits. Whatever floats his boat, but I'll stick with "Steve". _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Never knew he did that. Wow, I guess you learn something new about Axl every...three weeks I think.
I think what amuses me that most is that Axl is so much different from the rest of the GnR members. I mean, Slash and Duff are so appreciative of what they have and even Slash once said that he was the opposite of jaded. But Axl is so damn angry all the time and treats everyone who loves him (or hates him or even people that don't know him) like crap.
I still think that a Surreal Life with Axl would be pure gold. Could you imagine the bitch fits and the tantrums he would throw? _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

I think he did the gas station thing...last year. In one of the fancy casino antique shops.
A surreal life with Axl...would be chaos. Blood and lawsuits a plenty. Which of course means good fun. That would mean admitting he's a second rate former celebrity, though, and he'd never do that. Of course, by the definition of who appears on Surreal Life, Vince wouldn't apply anymore.
I dunno, the first season where Vince was on...bothered me. It was funny and all, but some of it was just too staged. Like where they all got the fortune cookies with a question they had to answer, and Vince's was what his worst memory/experience was. I knew as soon as he read it that it would be his daughter Skylar dying, and I'm sure the people who made the questions knew as well. How interesting is it when it's already known what they're going to say? I'd rather hear something a little more unique than a story he's told a hundred times before (and blamed his drinking and weight gain on).
So if Axl were on, aside from the tantrums, I imagine it would go similar to that. Questions about conflicts with the other members n' stuff we already know. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Vince's daughter died? Thats so sad. I think thats in really poor taste to bring up something so personal like that. But then again, reality TV has no shame and brining skeletons out of other people's closets is what its all about...I guess. <_<
It would also depend on who else was with him. I mean, if the people aren't really people that rub him the wrong way then it is possible that he could be pretty low key. But if they got like I dunno...some other 80s artist or even a band member from Nirvana (not likely though) it could bloody and painful to watch.

Yeah but isn't he...never mind. Way too easy. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Skylar died when she was four. She developed a tumor in her stomach. Wanna read something horribly sad? Here's Vince's take on it. It's also in The Dirt (slightly longer), and it's so painfully sad.
It was ten years ago, so he's had time to "get over it" and has talked about it on TV before that point. I just thought it was cheap to write a question specifically to get him to tell the story. Like "Hey, we need something to get people to relate to this tough rocker and connect with him...I know! Let's make him tell that story about his daughter dying and show his softer side."
Like there wasn't something more interesting they could have told, or even a more open ended question. It's not that he told the story, just that they knew the answer to the question and specifically wrote it that way. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. My God, poor Vince. That really is painfully sad. I ended up crying halfway through reading that. No one should go through that kind of pain.
They should've talked about something more lighthearted. Y'know like his early days when he lived with Nikki in an apartment on Sunset Strip and they would invite all the girls back to the apartment after concerts. Good times.
Who else was actually there with Vince on Surreal Life? Was he the only 'tough guy' there? _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Vince
Jerri Manthey (Survivor chick)
Corey Feldman
MC Hammer
Emmanuel Lewis
Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea on Bevery Hills 90210)
Brandie somebody (Playboy model)
I think that was it. All I can remember.
There's a little more in The Dirt about Skylar. The night she died, Vince left the hospital for the first time in days and started drinking again. When Sharise called, he got stuck in traffic on the way back to the hospital. After she died, they later found out that their house was in a polluted area and that residents had been seeing an increase in cancer. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. That so tragically ironic. Poor Vince. And Skylar was so young too...*cough* Sorry, I just get really emotional when I hear something like this. Its terrible. No one should have to see the death of their child. But then again, I don't make the f*cking rules around here so I guess that kind of crap has to happen. <_<
Hey, to get on a lighter subject, have you ever read Fargo Rock City: A Metal Odyssey? Its really funny. Its an autobiography about how the author began his metal days growing up on a farm. Its very funny and the author gets into constant intellectual debates about Guns n' Roses. My favorite line I remember was this one though:
"You know, when I just have that feeling I'm about to get into a car accident...like I just know that I'm going to get into an accident right now, I make sure to turn down the radio."
It reminds me of something I would most likely do. The biography on the back of the book made me want to buy the book though because it went something like "He lives in Michigan, writes best selling books and still tries to dance like Axl Rose when drunk."

Nah, never read it. Soon as I feel like reading something again, I think I'm gonna pick up The Devil of Shakespeare by Billy McCarthy (former drummer of D'Molls). In Billy's own words:
The Devil of Shakespeare is about Hollywood mega-star Darian Fable, who is haunted by his childhood years as David Faulkner; forced to live under the oppressive rule of a bitter-jock father and a sexually motivated aunt who is the town whore. Darians sudden decision at the peak of his celebrity to bail from Hollywood and live the normal life he never had as a child, sets off a chain of events that threatens the lives of the most powerful in Hollywoodincluding his own. However, The Devil of Shakespeare is also a social reminder of how todays society is so ridiculously obsessed with celebrity.
More interested just in reading his work than the story itself. But I finished Johnny Rotten's book and can't bring myself to start another for awhile. Reading makes me sleepy.

Sound interesting. I want to read this other book called Sex Drugs and Coco Puffs. Its supposed to be really funny and its by the same guy who wrote Fargo Rock City. In this book he just raves about different subjects like why soccer isn't a real sport, Trix promotes prejudice against old people, and random crap like that. I read one chapter from it about how the author was touring with this GnR tribute band and they all got smashed after a concert and as he was writing in his journal (which becomes the book) he writes stuff like this...
"Okay, I don't want to sound like I'm crazy but I think I'm going to anyway. I think we're all going to die. I swear there are elks jumping right in front of the tour bus. Huge freakin' pink elks and the s just won't die. Am I crazy? I think I am. Elks are really nice. I think we should all be nice to elks especially these pinks ones that are going to kill us all."
It goes on about how the members of the band do other stupid crap while high and drunk and have a spiffy time.
I need to go to Barns N Noble this Saturday. I need something good to read like a band book. I'm thinking of getting something about Motley Crue since I can't seem to get them out of my system. Are there any really good books out there or are they like the Guns book and very opinionated depending on who the book focuses on? _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

That's a lot of what Johnny Rotten does in his. Not quite so random, but it jumps from topic to topic constantly. Tell a little bit of bio, then talk about something else that happened fifteen years later, then something in general, then back to the story.

The Dirt! Best rock n' roll book ever. It's by the band themselves. Technically I believe they did most of it with audio and then had it transcribed, but same difference. It's still their story telling. Each chapter is by a different member and sometimes other people associated with the band (promoters, managers, etc.). Nikki is extremely long winded. He's got this huge chapter about his childhood (which is freaky as hell) before Tommy's first chapter, which has "fuck" about ten times on the first half page alone. Along the lines of "Fuck! How long is Nikki gonna fuckin' talk before I get my fuckin' turn? Jesus Christ. Anyway, I'm a hopeless fuckin' romantic..."
It's simply awesome. My favorite book ever. In the words of Sebastian Bach "The Bible's a pretty good book, but the Dirt is way up there." Just don't let your folks come across it and browse through it if they care about rather sexually explicit and detailed stories. There's some crazy stuff in there. Some of it is said to be a bit enhanced than how it actually happened, but who cares if it's fun to read?
Can't say enough good things about it. I don't know how many times I've read it, but it's a lot. Plus there's some nifty color photos in the center with funny captions. Lots of interesting pictures throughout. When they were kids, in high school, in other bands, pictures from their private collections, old lyrics on stained wrinkled paper, mugshots, etc.
Read it. I command you. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

This is gonna turn into a fangirl thread... eck.
Desperate times, desperate measures. As if I haven't read this discussion ten times over, what the hell.
What would the best combination of the UYI albums be to make one kickass UYI album instead of two? 10-12 songs only. And reasons. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

*Sigh* Beggars can't be choosers I guess, huh fallen? At least this thread is getting some kind of attention...
Hmmm...this is pretty easy dude.
November Rain: Its definetly a new turn from AFD and it actually kicks ass. Great melody, the lyrics aren't so amazing but the guitar playing in the middle of the song and in the end will take your breath away and want you to bear Slash's child.
Live and Let Die: It may be a cover song but in my opnion, its better than the original. Its short, sweet and gets you hooked right into the song and right when its getting really good, its over and just have to listen to it again.
Coma: Long ass song but still one of my favorite GnR songs. Axl's voice sounds nice in this one and Slash does his stuff as always.
Civil War: There has to be something for the anti-war hippies and at least this one has an edge to it.
Don't Cry: Besides the fact its one of my all-time favorite GnR songs...well it stays true to the former AFD days with just raw playing and no fancy orchestra crap.
You Could Be Mine: Punk edge and great lyrics all tied together with excellent bass and guitar playing.
Yesterdays: I like the lyrics to this song. They have some truth in them about Axl and the band in general and its got a simple melody thats pretty addicting to listen to.
Estranged: Since everyone seems to love this song and in spite of the ungodly confusing video, its pretty good. I honestly can't hear the lyrics but I'm so damn distracted by the video that I guess it doesn't really matter. But I guess a UYI album wouldn't be complete without this song.
Garden of Eden: Another song that should be on here in spite of a crappy video. Its addicting. Thats the best word I can think of for this song. Fast beat, all in all good lyrics and quick guitar playing to tie it all together.
Dead Horse: Another song that can't be left out of the UYI album. I love the lyrics. Its definetly the song's strongest point.
And this is probably the best I can think of at the moment. What about you fallen? You might as well give your opinion. I don't think they're going to come back after your comments about them being fangirlish. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

I was waiting for someone else to post so no one would steal my reasons.
Not in order. Would take more thinking, and I don't feel like thinking that hard.
Live and Let Die: It sums up the attitude of the band pretty damn well. I hear their version used more often than the original.
Don't Cry (original lyrics): I like the original lyrics better than the alternate ones on UYI II. Not sure why. It's sappy but a solid song. Just not sure UYI really needed two of them.
Bad Obsession: People rag on this song all the time, and I really have no idea why. I think it's a great tune with a catchy melody and strong lyrics.
November Rain: Really can't take November Rain out of it. Cheesy as hell, but the music makes up for it.
Bad Apples: All lyrical reasons. It's a really underrated song as far as their writing goes.
Coma: My favorite Guns song and one that doesn't get nearly enough attention. It's epic.
Civil War: A more serious global topic for Guns, and it always applies to modern times. Axl's singing is pretty.
Knockin' on Heaven's Door: Their best cover. It's been done so many times it's painful, but their cover was the best.
Pretty Tied Up: Could it be more catchy?
Estranged: Another epic. Lyrics, music, and less cheesy than November Rain.
You Could Be Mine: 'Cause you can't take out the hard rockin' tunes, and this is one of the best.
There's really an easier list of songs I wouldn't put on UYI. There are enough really good ones to warrant two, just a small bit of filler. My World and whatnot. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

There are different lyrics to Don't Cry? I was basing my list on what I've seen on Welcome to the Videos and Greatest Hits so I've only heard the alternative version. Whats so different about the original?
Estranged: Another epic. Lyrics, music, and less cheesy than November Rain.
Less cheesy, sure I'll go with that but you have to admit this song is confusing as hell. Yes, UYI isn't quite complete without it (since its apart of that Don't Cry, November Rain trilogy) but why don't we just try to pshyco analyze Axl instead? I think that might be easier than figuring out this song.
Civil War: A more serious global topic for Guns, and it always applies to modern times. Axl's singing is pretty.
I'm using that song for a history project. I have to interrpret the song lyrics and figure out what it has to do with current issues. I could not be such a puss and use something a little less obvious but I really don't feel like listening to all of the Motley songs that could work too. Plus, Wild Side might be too shocking for my class (I'm only person who doesn't worship today's pop idols in that class.)
Knockin' on Heaven's Door: Their best cover. It's been done so many times it's painful, but their cover was the best.
Another case where I think Axl is a lyrical genius and it turns out to be f*ckin' cover. <_< Who's the orginal band?
