Uhhh, right. I'm not too crazy about their new stuff. I miss the old Green day, now they've gone all pop-ish and I don't like it much. |

I used to listen to them... at some point in my life.
To those of you who DIDN'T know, "American Idiot" is a rock opera. The whole CD tells a story. I've never listened to the whole thing, so I don't really have a clue what it's about.
The band where's too much black now. It's sad. Them and Simple Plan got badly influenced by Good Charlotte or Avril, because those two are really the ones who started that whole thing. _________________ <MARQUEE>

As meaningless as the term "sell out" is these days ('cause who doesn't love money), it's exactly what they are and have been for quite awhile. Trendwhores to the highest degree. Never did like them, though, so a new level of suck for their newest album isn't of much concern. Now I just can't say I respect what they're doin' even if I don't like it, 'cause I don't anymore. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. They all sound the same to me. If you were to put me in an empty room, play songs from Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, or Green Day, I would be confused DIZZY! _________________ <MARQUEE>

Green Day isn't so bad, seeing that it is punk. But really, I prefer hard-rock, like Chevelle. _________________ Ah, so you've decided to read my signature. How DELLIGHTFUL. Now....................................how shall I visually m0l3st your eyes? xD |

No, they're not punk. Here's a tip. If they weren't a band in the 70s, there's a 99.9999% probability the band you're thinking of is NOT in any way punk. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

lol...'kickass punk'. Not trying to burst your bubble, but Green Day are a pop group...NOT punk. Punk was all about playing somewhat simple music but with a powerful message. Greenday have no talent or no message..they're just sellouts. |

I know. It's just that I really hate people insulting what was a really cool scene by including shit pop groups in it. Does it really matter what genre they are? No, but it does matter to me that great bands that did something important are ignored and thrown in with Green Day and Sum 41. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C.
they claim to be punk
Yet another thing I hate about all the modern fake punk bands. Trying to make themselves cooler by associating themselves with something they were never a part of.
Punk is the scene in the 70s that rebelled against prepackaged, radio friendly songs by being the exact opposite. Loud, harsh, and fast with no slick production or heavy musical skill. It was about being original and not conforming with everyone else (of course, the audiences even then missed the point and started dressing like the pistols or the ramones, much to their dismay). As soon as it became commercial, it was dead. The bands that people refer to as "punk" these days are nothing like the real punk bands, even in style. Their bouncy pop and catchy lyrics to sell records are everything punk was against.
It's entirely dead, and best off that way. Now if only people would let the label die instead of putting it on things that don't belong. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
