Yaoi. I'm no yaoi freak, but personally it is just more better. why? because the real truth is, almost all of yuri is graphic, vile, hentai, while alot of yaoi isn't too graphic. most yaoi doujinshi never hardly ever have a frontal view at all and is based heavily on emotion. Yuri, on the other hand, is almost always TOTALLY graphic is mostly geared toward trying to be 'harder'. It's really disturbing and disgusting..ick ._.
of course, that dosn't go for all yaoi. some of them get pretty graphic. It depends on the person who made it. I'm an obsessed doujinshi collector so trust me on that one
..that, and maybe half of because I'm a girl and could take yaoi more then yuri.. |

im pretty sure...that there a yaoi/yuri thread similar to this...but oh well.
ok....most prolly the yaoi that you looked at wasnt AS BAD...cuz dude....yaoi can be in the same level of graphic-ness to yuri. seriously. yaoi and yuri are both gay pornos...and.. blah. -.-
idk...shonen ai i guess. not yaoi. sumtimes maybe...its getting waaay overrated by the fangirls. like theyd see a shonen ai picture and be all "KAWAAAIIII!!!" then theyd see a really REALLY graphic yaoi pic and be all "OMG. AAAAAAAAHHH!!!!! I CANT BELIEVE U DREW IT" |

mxy, that doesn't happen very often.
As i have stated I have 2 yaoi/shonen ai and no one has really commented on the fact that they are yaoi/shonen ai. _________________

True. but I'll telling you, how many times have you seened a yuri that ISN't graphic? That is very rare to see. Yaoi, on the other hand, isn't always graphic. I collect all kinds of douinshi books, and I'm telling ya, alot of yaoi isn't too graphic. the 'scenes' will hardly ever have a full-front nudity and camera angles 'cover' up parts so we don't see all of it.
Also, yaoi isn't always about sex scenes, and alot actually have stories. people find that hard to believe..but it's true. And from what I have seened, most yuri are all about graphic sex, in other words, PWP (meaning 'plot? what plot?).
I quote this very true passage from yaoicon's description of yaoi..
Remember that it's all written by women for the enjoyment of other women, so the works display a female fantasy of what's sexually attractive, not necessarily a gay male one. Secondly, there's a common misconception that yaoi is all about the sex, nothing more than hentai or pornography for women.

Which isnt to say that yaoi works cant be sexually explicit. Some of them are very much so, and definitely not for minors. It's worth noting that even in the more sexually explicit yaoi anime, there's never full-frontal nudity. There are always strategic camera angles or discreetly bent limbs to blunt the effect. Or there are the infamous "glowing cones of light (or ghostly outlines) which replace genitalia during sex scenes.
okies..I think I made my point now ^^; |

yup, thats exactly what I'm talking about. there is shoujo-ai out there...but it's very rare. Most fxf content out there is always hentai. In fact, in my whole doujinshi collection of +126, i've only got one shoujo-ai...ONE. i have no hentai in my collection..even though i did get a few on accident (stupid ebay sellers don't properly label the doujin ; )..which were given and sold away asap
levels of yaoi..
shounen-ai- romantic, non-sexual relation between two men. story based.
light yaoi- has a few hints of sex and suggestive themes but dosn't really show anything. story based.
normal yaoi- MAY have sex scenes depending on story. Not graphic. 'scenes' are very short and take one or two pages.
hard yaoi- this could range from PWP to having a story. always has sex scenes, but never has full frontal nudity.
hentai yaoi- hard, completely explicit. this one is just as sick as yuri/hentai. No story, or has a terrible plot. |

can't disagree with that. I'm more of a yaoi fan. I don't have the guts to draw yaoi. I carry my sketchbook around with me, & I'd feel awkard with people walking by & seeing me draw 2 guys kissing. although I do like seeing other people's yaoi drawings.

I prefer yaoi, unless it's fanart yaoi. I absolutely despise fanart yaoi and yuri. |
