True. Usually the chapter and word amount shows whether the person rushed through it or plans to make a carreer out of writing. The long ones are the best. Nice thing about it is that the good stories last longer when reading. _________________ |

But I like short stories...
It seems as tho the longer I continiue a story, the lower the quality gets. |

Yeah, some people do seem to want to get the writting over with, but for others it seems as though they've been waiting for the climax the whole time. Then the plot really picks up further on. _________________ |

Nothin' wrong with short or "one shot" stories. But that means the writing should be just as detailed; it's the actual plot that's shorter. Instead of telling something that happens over the course of a month or years, it's the story of a specific encounter or day. People who tell the story in a very quick, dry fashion are worthless.
"Bob wlked too skool. He went to mathh class and reelized he forgot his hmwk. The teacher got really really mad and maid him go too the principle's office. Bob was sad. Then he went home. The end."

The fact that their administration didn't know this TOTALLY turned me off of this site completely.
I have no clue what fanfiction is posted here. Some fanart too for that matter. Does that turn you off this site?
This site will remain uncensored (the approval panel and stuff is bad enough). I belive I would shutdown the site before I start removing any adult material of any kind for being adult.
sorry lol n.n haven't checked out this thread for a while.
No, the problem with the admins not knowing on FAC is that a LOT of people had left complaints on the story saying that they were going to write the site/report him etc. I reported the users several times and there was no response o.o
It was finally my dad who did ......whatever he did and got them off once he found out what was going on with my sister. I'm not really sure who or how he contacted them.
I've also sent letters into the admins asking about problems with the server itself (I'm not getting reviews, my stories aren't showing up, etc) and they never got back to me (going on.....let's see....5, maybe 6 months now since my last letter was sent). what really ticked me off about this was that I'm PAYING. I donated a lot of money to the site and it's not really helping much.
JJ I don't know WHY you would have heard about it o.o we didn't call in the police or media or anything.
I found out since it had to do with my little sister.

Wah! I posted this topic ages ago without looking at it. Twasinteresting to read the replies.
To let it be known I do _not_ hate ff.net. I was just griping about the problems, like this one time when I was reading a story and gasped 'I _wrote_ that paragraph' It was worded slightly differently. And the person stole of of my charcters names that I made up.
Amongst other problems neway. |

Uh, in case you didn't notice, no one was saying "LIKE OMFG!!! THAY DELEETD MAH STORIE!!!! IT WAS TEH UBER L337 2 W/ LOTS OF PR0N!"
Our problem with ff.net is
1. There is a lot of junk there. The site is crowded to the point the truly talented authors are buried by tons of half-assed "stories". That's not entirely the fault of the authors, nor the site, and we weren't really blaming THE SITE for that. Simply we choose to not go there BECAUSE of that. I don't want to dig through the 2500 Labyrinth fics for the 4 really good ones.
2. With an NC17 option, yes there was a lot of pointless smut. So? There's a lot of plotless pieces of G rated crap, too! Just because it offends someone is no reason to ban it, so long as it was properly rated. Fair warning, it's your own fault if you read it. ESPECIALLY once R and NC17 had to be actively selected to be viewed from the drop down menu. At that point, you knew what you were looking for, so don't bitch when you find it.
3. Still on the topic of NC17, do you honestly think it was all tasteless garbage? Hardly. Some of the best authors, best stories, with the most complex and interestnig plots happened to write NC17 rated stories because of either graphic violence or a few tasteful sex scenes. But they banned them! They banned perfectly talented authors, some of the best on the net, for no god damn reason. Any kid that found an NC17 story knew exactly what they were doing, and if they didn't, that's a pretty stupid little kid. Yes, there are children, but that doesn't mean everyone else should be punished and excellent writers' work deleted.
4. It's quite obvious that, even though they deleted the option to upload NC17 stories, many are still being posted. And worse, now they're being posted under very low ratings! What's worse, kids knowingly searching out graphic stories then playing innocent to avoid getting in trouble or actual kids minding their own business clicking a G-rated story and finding that?
We weren't saying (for the most part) that the people who run ff.net are horrible people and their site sucks (just a little). The site itself could be fine, but their ridiculous removal of NC17 fics and the overcrowding is what made us leave. And there are plenty of other sites out there to post stories, it's just a shame they don't offer the same mass exposure ff.net did.
Please, understand the damn arguments before you run your mouth. Or go read some 9-year-old's shitty anime script fic, what do I care.
(and baby, internet porn and erotica isn't going anywhere. It's too much of a huge business. Bible beaters and idealists like to preach their morals, but it will always be around. Live with it. Accept it. Or at least for the love of god ignore it.) _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

All I have too say about FF.net is this: wah. You submit your own junk, and five minutes after it's posted it's lost in a sea of other people's junk. At least I work hard on my junk, which most of the people there obviously don't. (spellcheck, people! *twitch*)
All this complaining reminds me that I still have to go and submit something to the Sea of Junk. Whatever. _________________ a jelly calypso castle in the sky |

T.T first of all, ...did you not....read the forum? we weren't just "complaining" about the "lack of p orn"
lol, god knows there's plenty to go around on the rest of the web. lol
second.....um....MM.O isn't trying to help anyone o.o they're trying to make money.
they were cool back when they first came out and it was all about the community. But then it got really popular and too many people joined and they shut down the site. now they're charging.
and a ton of the people there are real jerks (first forum I ever went to...thought it was my last)
they review the content (like flaming a picture because Hiei's with a girl even...though....he's not gay.....) etc.
okay, end rant. |

I'm trying to make money too....Just not very sucessfully, and I think its going to get worse in a month or 2.
Anyway to keep this post more on topic. Most of the adult stuff from FF.net moved to mm.org anyway, read it there. Or get the authors to post it here _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

No it didn't, because I wasn't reading anime smut.
And you're trying to make money without punishing those who aren't paying members, unlike other sites. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
