I was thinking of PM'ing a moderator and reporting how you two have been "spamming" -- using this thread to "chat" one-on-one, back-and-forth with each other with little concern for anyone else.

Still am, actually, and if EN1X hadn't tried to correct you earlier, I would have already done so.

If you want to chat one-on-one with another member, PLEASE use a one-on-one medium like e-mail or chat (or even forum PM's) for that. (btw, this is more of an order than a request. The "please" part is for courtesy)

FORUMS ARE NOT ONLINE CHAT. Forums should not be treated like online chat. Forums are more like public e-mail, forums should be treated more like public e-mail. Participating in a forum topic means that you have to let more than just one other person contribute to the topic at hand. And HERE IS HOW:
[list][*]Check the forums only two times [i]per day[/i]. Once in the morning, and once in the evening. Don't attend more often than that.
This means that there'll be, on average, twelve hours between each of your visits. Twelve hours is a good span of time for other members to log in and participate in the forums [i]on their own time[/i] (although 24 hours, a full day, is even better).

[*]Only read/respond to a topic [i]once[/i] per visit. When you've made your response to a topic, then close the window/tab containing the topic. Do not check the topic again until your next visit, do not reply to that topic again until your next visit, no exceptions.
Again, waiting 12 or 24 hours between each visit/post gives other members ample time to log in, check the forums, and make their own responses.

[*]When you've finished reading (or replying to) all the topics of interest, LOG OUT.

Remaining on the forums page and hitting the Refresh button is the forum equivalent of twiddling your thumbs. You have much more important things to do with your day, with your life. Schoolwork? Writing? Art? TV? Go do it. Wink

THAT is how a forum works -- basically just remember the phrase "let me get back to you on that". If you pick almost any topic from the forums at random and check how often any given member posts in a topic, you'll notice there's usually several hours, often more, between each of their posts. Not one, not five, not ten minutes -- hours.

i'm sorry stratadrake.......i tend to get sidetracked...too many chat rooms at once plus aim and yahoo messenger and i'm usually tlaking to my grandparents or my dad is harassing me. we'll stop. sam, if you need anything, email me. i think it's time we stopped the thread

Anyway, the back-and-forth posting between you and Sam wouldn't be a problem if it actually related to the subject of this thread (fanfiction types). But as they were merely "filler" posts while waiting for others to contribute, that's what made it a problem. -_-

Ever consider checking out the forums without logging on to chat at the same time? Or even going online without logging on to chat at the same time?
