You think she took a shortcut? She does so have talent. The music industry said she'd be a one hit wonder, but she's not. So that must obviously mean that she has talent.

Hits mean nothing. They mean less than winning some silly contest, when the general population is a herd of sheep who will blindly (or perhaps deafly) follow wherever MTV leads them.

Kelly Clarkson is a worthless karaoke reject. Her voice is average, her performance abysmal, and she has no creativity whatsoever. Nothing about her deserves a record deal. (nor does anyone else from that show)

Have a what? A hit or a record contract? Every person from that show that has as record deal has one because the label loves money. Their name in association with that show means profits for the label, not art, or music, or talent, or anything related to musicianship at all. The label can make a quick buck off the promotion and hype and then throw them away.

Clarkson has lasted longer than some predicted, but she's still a very new and very fading "artist" (and I use the loosest definition of that term). They suck people in with the show, predict that a portion of them will go buy the winner's album, and they'll catch the supporters of the losers by releasing albums for them as well. It's marketing. Simon's label [i]owns[/i] the winner. They have those kids by the balls. No room to negotiate or be treated like a real signed artist because afterall, it's their "prize". They're a contest winning dancing monkey.

And that's fine for what it is, but a mediocre puppet is in no way "the best female artist". Against women who write their own music, worked for their success (and I mean really worked, not entered some silly contest), and made a profound impact on music, Kelly is a miniscule little wind up doll that's singing someone else's cheesy song and playing pop star for fifteen minutes.
