I like acrylic paint. More colorful than drawing, reworkable unlike water colors, and it dries more quickly than oil so I don't mix colors on accident.

I like pencil. It's erasable, easy to find/buy, portable, works on just about anything, and easy to use. Yay for old fashioned pencil! Razz

I vote pens. They don't smudge much and have no lead to break. Pencils are nice too. Razz

I voted for pencil. I aslo disagree somewhat with jhonenfreak that acrylic paint is more colorful then drawing. Most, except for maybe one or two, of my colored works are done with prismacolor pencils, and I'm able to get extremly vibrant nice colors in nice smooth even tones. I think it probably depends more on the quality of the material and the skill of the person using the materials, then the actual materials themselves.

Though I can't deny that painting is nice too, I've used acrylics myself on occasion though I'm more fond of watercolors because I like to work fast and watercolors almost force you to work fast. Acrylics just take to long.

By drawing I ment pencils. Markers and pens aren't reworkable, and I make a LOT of mistakes.

Yeah, I do. I've tried adding my own characters to photo backgrounds on the computer, but a lot of my stuff is on canvas so the textures are all different and my stuff looks all sucky. I've been to the Dick Blick site a few times before and dang are their products expensive! I'm just sticking to good ol' paints and my nasty brushes that are getting really old. I need to go on an art shopping spree over the summer and get new paints and canvas and whatnot.

this is a tough one since my art goes through many a media and metamorphosis when I draw. love sketching it out with pencil (yes crappy no2s on too small of a paper/ fits my scanner), then ink with pen (like Lexar stated/ scans well), then really do all my finnal inking, expantion, and corrections in an art program (yes beloved MSP/since I enlarge my drawings to apx 7' tall you can really work with that program). well only in small areas at a time since you cant see but a tiny piece at a time. then bring it to PSP for coloring and shading. lot of different steps and its time comsuming, but it works for me.

so I voted comp media since 80% of my work is done in that.

note: too many MSP drawings here that use that program wrong, thats why every one hates it. I think my lines come out pretty smooth and curvy with that old dino and it dose have 1 advantage over all other big programs for lining, its either one color (black) or the other (white). no shades of gray (like big programs attempt to blend) inbetween!

example no line tools ever used, just a semi steady hand with the mouse. even if some lines are alittle wavy I think it shows my abilities not the programs.

I voted for computer graphics too. I'd not know what to do without my trusty Wacom and Painter Classic. Looks like acrylic/oils but with none of the mess, woohoo! Razz

hmmm, this poll was a bit hard for me because i fall into more than one catagory. i always draw something in pencil first. sometimes i will leave it as a pencil drawing, often i will trace it in ink. then i will often scan the drawing into a computer to color it. so i use both pen, pencil, and computer to make one picture.

i also love using charcoals. painting is cool too, but i prefer the charcoals

I figured pencil drawings would have been the most popular, but I didn't realize that not too many people like to paint.

I go for the pencil category too because it's easily fixable when you make mistakes.

I usually start out with a pencil line sketch, then erase/supplant it with colored pencil lines as prep for coloring it in completely. And my scanner never remembers what color/exposure settings I scan things in at, but that's okay because I'm always tweaking those settings anyway.

I also like drawing on half-sheets of paper more than full-sheets. Maybe it's because of the wider aspect ratio....
