I'm not quite sure if I'm the only one who does this, but sometimes, after finishing a picture, in my frenzy to upload it on the page, I forget to finish something. Then I look at it later in absolute horror, wondering why the hell I didn't finish that one detail.
Now, I don't know anything about creating websites, but I was wondering if it was possible create a feature that allowed someone to upload an edited version of a picture in place of the original, without losing information like comments and view number.
I don't know, maybe it does exist already, and I'm just blind and in the 6 months I've been here, didn't see it. Or maybe it would be too time consuming to create it. But I was just wondering. |

the fan fiction works like that too. You can replace a story if you added something. I wondered why it doesn't work like that with pictures. That would be cool, and I'm sure it crossed many minds before, because I do the same thing with requests and stuff, I just can't wait to get them up. Other people have to settle for putting up a rough draft of something first then post the final peice when it's done aswell. I like your idea, but I don't know, it may take some work into it. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

That's a good idea. There have been a few instanced when I thought, "Gee, sure would be nice if I could replace or edit that."
It should be possible. Now you have to delete it and add it again and if its an old one its decieving because it's down the list as a newer one.

Technically there is a way to upload an edited picture, first upload the edited piece to a free picture hosting site such as photobucket. Copy the url of the picture.
Then go to FAC and hit the EDIT button that should be right next to your picture in your gallery. On the screen it brings you to there are varios things you can change. One of them is "Image Location" or something along those lines. Simply delete the url that's in that box and paste your new url (from photobucket) into it. Then click update or Save changes, whatever it says at the bottom.
Presto you're done! ^^ _________________

Nice, DG.. Very nice indeed...
It'd be a nice option to upload a pic again, though :)
Still.. people could use any image as a sort of placeholder for people to place stolen art into later to claim as thier own.. A system like that would have a whole bunch of flaws requiring constant attention..
Interesting though. |

You're not the first to mention this idea. It's possible (I recall outlining an abuse-proof system in another thread some long time ago), but compared to the other things Denis works on, it's not that high of a priority. More of one of those bells & whistles that would be nice to have.
As for the matter of linked images, I know it saves FAC server disk space and bandwidth compraed to uploads, but sometimes I wish that option wasn't an option. A linked oversized (or *cough* BMP) image weighing 600kb may not take up space on FAC, but it still chokes out other data when squished through my 56k modem.... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Artist should also be able to organize thier links on their profile page, with out moving the location of the actual picture.
Just to organize their page, nothing more., To have a sperate page full of links.
I.E.
TheDude's Mario pics
TheDude's old pics
TheDude's Anime rip off pics
TheDude's Harry Potter pics
Don't bother clicking. Those are fake links. But..you get the idea. The user can do what he wishes with them. Name him and organize them however he wishes. _________________ Mohawks are beautiful sculptures |

Something that has been wanted for quite some time.

sometimes I kind of like to see the progress of a pic. I remember I was looking through someone's gallery a while ago, & they had a series of pics. 1 was just the lineart, then the flat colors, then shading, the the bg. I think if you could just upload a pic in place of another you'd miss out on the step-by-step process. of course, if you submit a pic, & realize you forget to color in something. then yeah, having the option to replace it would be nice. ^_^ |

Cool. ^_^
I didn't know I could do that (or maybe I just wasn't thinking hard enough? <_< ). I'll just do that from now on. |
