What art medium can you just not use to produce quality work or have you never seen used to make excellent art?
Tempra paints. I hate them I hate them I hate them! Watery, plus they have a rough feel after they dry. Icky. _________________ |

Yeah, I hate tempra paints. They flake off of everything, and are all around a pain. Other forms of paint are worth the added cost.
Crayon and Crayola colored pencil usually look like crap, except in the hands of some truly skilled people. But those people could get the same or better results from a better medium, so cheap colored pencils and crayons go on my list. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. You're right, Crayola crayons are the only deacent ones.
As far as a medium I cant stand, I would say markers. They bleed and they always look wrong, the color never seems decent. I love a brand new box od crayola crayons. Nothin' like it! They smell so sweet. I'm not sure if I like charcoal...I triend them and I can't get the hang of it. _________________ Mohawks are beautiful sculptures |

Charcoal and markers are excellent mediums, in terms of being used effectively. No medium is good for everyone, but both are high quality and perfectly valid. Of course, when it comes to markers, I mean prisma, copic, etc. and not crayola or any of those.
Crayons...are just worthless. Some really talented people can make great things with them, but that's more a triumph of the artist and not the result of the medium. Pastels are the same thing only of good quality. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Wouldn't you only use tempra paint as like, a very last resort? I always sold it as a fingerpainting thing for kids. _________________ |

you can do beautiful things with markers.
you just have to get a feel for the medium.
some of my favourite artwork is done with them, i've started to use them too. they are one of my favourite mediums.
.. don't know what I like least..
I can't really think of one. any medium can look good if used properly... |

Sadly, no. I've been to schools whose art departments have had very limited budgets. _________________ |

Not entirely. It goes way back, originally made with eggs (you can make your own if you find a recipe). Several of the old paintings that have that cracked pattern were done with tempra paints. You can make nice things with them, but in a time when it's so easy to go buy some acrylics or oils or watercolor instead of making your own paint, there's nothing very redeeming about them.
The art department in my school uses them in the lower level classes (like the introductory course that covers all art) to save money on wasted materials. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Felt pens, pencils and pencil crayons are my friends. I think watercolour is tricky but useable. Like Florence is able to do a great job with that medium, but I find them way to runny. I only hand success with them when I use them in a combination of an inked drawing. Pastels are just plain messy. |

I do not know how to use any manner of paint... especially watercolor. I can't stand life without an un-do button or an eraser... |

Crayons. I can't get anything decent out of them, at all. Especially not drawing lines, sometimes I might use them to colour if I was HUGELY desperate and they had a colour I needed but wasn't available anywhere else.

wow..alot of people hate crayons. They're a ok medium. It's fun to color with crayons if you want to get a rough-looking effect, but like someone said before, you could get much better effects with other media. |

Sometimes learning to use traditional mediums is difficult, but necessary. If you want to go into an art career, even one in which you would use mainly a computer, you still need to have studio skills.
I can't work with watercolors or oil pastels...but I love acrylic paint and colored pencils. |
