I like tempera paints. I use them in school(painting class) often, because our budget is nil. It's not the worst, but I've only worked with acrylic, watercolor, and tempera. But I like the former two best.
I'd say clay. I'm terrible with natural clay, I hate how it feels, and everything I make looks like crap. I will never be a sculptor. |

my worst media is roseart colored pencils, they suck, and crayola and prisma rule! Animemaster, colored pencils are good to color with, if they break easily, then they're bad ones, but it's your interest, to me roseart sucks! _________________ Wyat Fucking Earp! |

Preferably the latter. Crayola's pigment content is laughable. Prisma are more expensive, but for any decent coverage, it'll take twice as much of a crayola pencil to get it. For light coverage/a harder lead, Derwent are high quality and can have a similar feel to crayola. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Derwent eh? Never heard of that brand before. I've used Prisma, Crayola, Prang, Laurentien, Three star and no name brands (Three star is garbage), but is this Derwent brand anything like Prisma? Or is it in between Crayola and Prisma?
On a second note, Prisma I find a bit tricky, GOOD but tricky. Its almost like useing dry paint, as you can blend colours together. So the best way to use them is to have a piece of scrap paper on the side and just blend certain colours together before applying. |

Derwent are the same quality as Prisma when it comes to quality, but their formula is different and gives a different effect. Prisma has a lot of wax and pigment in them, making them soft and easy to blend. Derwent have a harder but still pigment heavy lead. That makes 'em great for small details, thin lines (like hatching), and have a similar application as the cheaper brands only with more vibrant color and coverage. They stay sharp longer.
Faber-Castell is also a good brand. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Oh boy... apparently there are more good quality brands other then Prisma. The Derwent brand sounds a lot like the Verithin Prismas. Which is a harder lead for small detail, which are suppose to complement the regular Prismas (also their suppose to resist breaking).
Im guessing that the Paber-Cestell is just as good as Derwent and Prisma.
Now the biggest questions are...Which of the three brands mentioned are the best for the price? Do they all blend as well as Prisma? Or are they each to there own?
Has anybody ever try Prisma watercolour pencils? Theyre very different from your normal watercolour sets with a brush... Using any watercolour on its own is a tricky feat. Im pretty sure they are a good set; just have to get the feel of a whole new way of using watercolour. You can probably still use the Prisma watercolour as regular brush set, just this time you can do more things with them. Though watercolour in general, I have little experience with them. |

When it comes to pencil brands-- well, I'm broke, so I use RoseArt Nice to have some good advice for when I feel like buying a better brand, though.
My favorite medium is acryclic paint, followed closely by water colors. I just feel like I have more control over them. I hate canvas, though. It's quite irritating at times. I imagine it would be easiest to main on wood if I could find a good spread of it. I did find that using water colors to fill in some of the canvas spaces helps make the acrylics look niser. I also use a lot of model pain to make shinies. I'm a hick, what can I say
My worst medium, though, is oil paint. I pull these out every year or so to try and convicne myself that last time was just unlucky. It's really because I'm too impatient to let the layer dry before I continue the piece. I had a good background on one- the deck of a small cutter ship, but drawing the people ruined it, heh. People in oil paints for me look disgusting. |

It all depends on what you want to do and where you shop. All are relatively the same quality. It's like the difference between top of the line paint brands, it all depends on your preference. One company may make a shade of phthalo green you prefer but is of the same quality as another brand.
If you want smooth blended color with good coverage, you'll most likely want to go with Prisma. It can be done in both the others, but Prismas go on easier and will give that look with less trouble. If you prefer more of a rough look (like when you take a prisma and only rub it lightly across the paper) or a strong lead for hatching, the other two will probably suit you better.
All are artist grade when it comes to pigment, the formula of pigment to binder is just different. Go to an art store and see if they have some out to test. Or buy one or two of each brand and see which one suits you best. None are as cheap as school brands, but prisma is typically the most expensive.
I only use prisma because that's the look I want, but if I were doing hatching or lots of small, precise work, I'd go for one of the other two. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

hmm i dislike useing those white charcole and some of the brown charcole pencils because it always seem for me they dont shade at all and you always have to push down really hard on them to get some white down and then you mess up cuz it becomes too white, and the fact that i suck with them doesnt make my opinion of them any better. other mediums would be marks , and sometimes i get mad with useing blood cuz it doesnt always smear right, but oh well. _________________ If every artist's sketch book was an actual place for your drawings to live, they say that my sketch book would be a horrible twisted place where sin runs wild, pervertion around every corner, gorie blood beneath your feet, and the occasional wickedly cute chibi . i think thats cute of them to say that. I HATE watercolors!! I've only ever done 1 painting with that crap only because I had to in artclass. My painting didn't turn out half bad, but I had no fun painting it. I also don't like pastels because they stain my fingers and they feel gross. _________________ I have magical female powers

O.o you gives if they feel gross, that means a hard work done! Mediums I use always end up on my fingers, when I was drawing someone for someone I had the color red everywhere on my fingers, I was proud anyways. _________________ Wyat Fucking Earp! |
