A noble effort, but Leo just likes stirring shit.
I think I have one Poison shirt from Hot Topic that was a gift. I'm not positive it's from there, but I'm pretty sure, since there's nowhere else to buy a brand spankin' new one around here. It's the thought that counts, and I've cut it up n' stitched it back together, so it's pretty much just the nice screenprinted picture that was bought. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. heh..I noticed that ^^;
heh, thats cool xD At least you got the nice looking picture ^_^ Still, it's pretty depressing how Hot Topic is like the only store out there you could buy good quality shirts of bands that are less known. Now, I'm sure, if Hot Topic wasn't a mall store, it would have been so much better...

It's owned by GAP. Couldn't be that great.
My Mike Monroe shirt came today. I'm so excited. Been looking for over 6 months for one of his solo tour shirts, and I finally caught one on Ebay.

I rectify such situations by onlyw earing button up shirts that say nothing
Actually, the only reasons I wanted to reply this thread are as follows:
1. 'Goths' piss the hell out of me.
2. Those shirts are really lame.
3. I'm shocked that hot topic would carry something like Blind Guardian. Only like three people in America know them, and they're all nerds Frankly, i feel sorry for Blind Guardian. If they ever hit it in America, I'm assuming their next album will suck, and I'll hate them *tear*
This reminds me of my newspaper class. Our editor-in-chief suxors big time and wouldn't even let the staff help decide on the type of shirt we were going to get. This lame guy named Scott got on photoshop and made a littl ebox that said "Fine, I'll make my own shirt" on it. Thought he was clever or something... guy did nothing... in any case.
I prefer not to advertise by wearing t-shirts with words :/ People should be interested in talking to me because of my own personality and how I portray it. (Which is probably why no one talks to me- I'm suxor too ^_^ ) |

yeah that is true. But still, if it wasn't a mall store it wouldn't be as popular is it is now, and that means it wouldn't really be considered a 'cool' store. everybody makes fun of GAP now though, that is probably why they came up with Hot Topic.

those poser 'goth' shirts are as annoying as hell...it makes the true goths look terrible. Yes, there are true, non-poser goths. I'm not going to get into a rant about it but you look into that here- http://blood-dance.net/goth/grant.html
feel sorry for blind guardian...what the hell?! BG are one of the most successful metal power bands to EVER exist. and if they ever hit in America? sorry, bud, they already did. Sure, they are more popular in other countries, but there are countless people here in the US that like them. hell, I go to metal communities online, and most of the BG fans I've seened are American. but what else do you expect? after all, metal IS underground. At least power metal bands like BG anyway. It's very rare you will see a BG fan out on your ordinary day or at school.
And s**t...you think BG is going to make a bad alblum next? what makes you think that? hell, Night at the Opera has to be one of the most amazing, original metal CDs ever.
ok, so they used to make music based on medival stuff like lord of the rings...so what? is that an excuse for saying their next alblum will suck? tch...at least thier lyrics are more useful then the stupid hip hop ones..
so the nerds listen to BG? Well then, I got alot of respect for these 'nerds' who actually know how to go out and discover good music rather then to be spoonfed 'cool' music by the sh*tty media. besides, have you ever been to a BG concert? well for sure, if you did, you'll see that most BG fans arn't all 'nerds'.
...ok. I'm done now. man...I really need to learn how to control that bad temper of mine.. |

i despise poser goths. they sit there and whine about how unfair life is and cut themselves and wear black because they want to be ' diffrent ' well... when about a million more people are doing it, your not that ' diffrent' .....its all to gay for my head to get around it. I have a spiked bracelet... but... its buried in my closet somewhere and i dont want to find it. they are pretty gay ( all of you should fear me because i own a spiked bracelet *sarcasm* )
band tshirts are expensive there... but... hot topic knows they can sell the tinkerbell and happy bunny s**t to the rich posers, so hot topics the one that gets money of the 'trendy' gay crap like that. they could give a s**t.
why wear a shirt of a band that you dont know anything about? ... the only band shirt I have is the used... and i am omniscent when it comes to them. i had a bad experience at a church camp (please dont ask) and i had to wear my friends shirt that said ' know your mushrooms ' and had all the mario mushroom things on it, and someone asked me about the shirt, i didnt know, they called me a poser. twas retarded. i didnt explain to them that i was helping out a friend and just told them to f**k off and... it ended. You have no idea how many marketing executives would be creaming all over that statement. Congratulations, you're a corporate whore! (although I do hope that statement was at least partially a joke)
Since Happy Bunny is not music related, this shall be brief. The statements were interesting for 30 seconds after they came out. Seeing every bitch in the world with a shirt that says "you suck and that's sad" is not funny. The sarcasm just makes you sound like a conceited asshole. It's not "cute". Neither are any of the "Princess" "I need supervision" "Heartbreaker" or "I kiss and tell" slogans on other stuff.
If someone likes to sound like an arrogant douchebag (who isn't even creative enough to come up with their own slogan and must purchase someone else's at $19.99), they should keep it to themselves and not cover their entire body plus binder, text books, backpack, and God knows what else with it. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Actually, yes, it was a joke. lol. I just got bored with my simple life and started a collection of things I could actually AFFORD. -__-' Now, let this simple-minded mortal go away and leave you all to your music talk. _________________ Ah, so you've decided to read my signature. errr..but isn't Hot Topic overpriced anyway?
urh, happy bunny is so lame. I especially hate the ones that are sexist to boys..
I've came to this conclusion about the spiked/studded bracelets:
If you TRUELY like those leather bracelets, then go ahead and wear them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with studded/spiked bracelets. However, there IS something wrong if you wear them to be trendy, or 'cool'. In other words, wear the bracelets to be yourself, but don't wear them to be a 'badass rocker'.
I have 1 spiked leather bracelet that was given to me by a good family member and was handcrafted. i still have it, but I don't wear it much because the spikes get in the way alot of times (and it is against school dress code).
If you like the leather bracelets, and want to wear one, DO SO. A person who wants to wear spiked bracelts but dosn't for the fear of being a rocker poser makes THEM a poser. Be yourself, it's all that matters. Who really cares if all the loser hot topic kiddies like'em? is that a good enough reason to not be yourself?
Oh, also, do not buy those bracelets at Hot Topic! I've seened lots of punk and goth wannabes wear those all the time, and I got to say, what sh*tty quality leather! if you could call those 'leather' that is. alot of the spiked bracelets from Hot Topic are made out of plastic....and don't look to last long. Cmon, at least buy the real leather..

Um, you DO know what the leather spikes represent, don't you? They're not just there to look cool. _________________ |

I'll do what my friend does--paint-a-Tshirt! You want a funny slogan..make it yourself, it's cheaper too. But yeah, only thing I ever bought from Hot Topic was a pair of sunglasses that a friend of mine pressured me into..'course I promptly lost them three weeks later. <_< They were nice, though; wish I could find them. As for band T-Shirts, I think it depends on if you can find them anywhere else, like the Blue Meanie Beatles one I saw a couple of weeks ago.. Other than that and maybe piercings (a bit cheaper than the local tattoo shop, though probably cheaper in quality as well) I don't think there's a real reason to shop at Hot Topic. Except maybe to laugh at the idiots buying the cheap expensive junk. _________________ "I've got a sticky Darodo!"

Yes, HotTopic is QUITE over priced
But the clothes you get there, or accessories actually last a long time
And are quite cute, too...
Mainly the clothes (Such as Tripps which are about $55 per pair) are the most durrable things you can freakin find rofl
I myself LOVE HotTopic apparel
It just makes me feel like I wanna rip someone's head apart piece by piece and fry their brain in a skillet for dinner ^_^
Band shirts at HT USUALLY go on sale 2 for $25 which isn't bad AT ALL for the simple fact each shirt seperately costs $16 - $18... |

Problem with Hot Topic outfits: You can tell at a glance that the outfit came from there. It's a trendy little money pit. They're cheap knock offs of a particular style that never look the same. Like all the faux goth/punk/vintage things that just look like...well...the replicas they are. They don't give off the impression of "this cool outfit", as they would if it was something original not purchased from a trendwhore superstore. Instead, it's "oh, yeah, I saw that at Hot Topic".
They don't even have to put their store name on everything (a la the parent company, GAP) to make people their walking billboards. Brilliant.

They shouldn't have to go on sale to be a reasonable price. $15+ for a t-shirt that originally cost maybe $10 tops is ridiculous. $12.50 is still horrible, especially considering they're cheap knock offs and nowhere near the originals. When the real thing costs $5 (Ebay, thrift shops, various small independent stores), a 300% mark up...certainly shows how little they differ from GAP, other than color scheme. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. GAP = Gay Ass Porn
And yeah
I know
It's stupid as to how expensive the shirts are
But they're good looking to me...
And yes, when you see someone with clothes like such from HT...you KNOW it's from HT
You rarely see it anywhere else |
