Some might say hip hop, some might say pop, some may even say country (scary) but me, i say Rock, all the rock and every kind of rock.
What genre are you more attracted to, what's your favorite, least favorite and all that good stuff.
I listen to A LOT of rock, whether its Jimi hendrix, Eric Clapton, to Ozzy, Godsmack, Adema and all sorts of good stuff like that.
I just love it really, i can relate to it in some way and it gets the mood going, lots of adrenaline baby! |

I'd also say that rock is the most popular genre, simply because there are so many sub-genres to it and a wide variety of music can be classified under it, whether it's punk, metal, alternative, nu-metal, grunge, hardcore, even emo and ska could probably be classified Rock. In my opinion, it is also the best genre, so to me it's the most popular.
hmmmm i listen to a lot of rock, too; from angry (Kittie, Switched, Suicidal Tendencies) to more mainstream (Foo Fighters, The Strokes), to legendary (Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, The Clash).
sooooo yea i like rock.... _________________ i fought the war, but the war won |

Right on, Wolf.
Like: Rock, hair metal (poison), party rock (Motley Crue), classic rock (Aerosmith), hard rock (AC/DC), some metal (Ozzy), some punk (Sex Pistols, Samantha 7), some grunge (Nirvana)...
Hate: Nu metal (Linkin Park), pop (boybands), country (uh...), rap/hip hop/R&B (there's a new one every day), anything that's just annoying noise... 99.9% of everything on MTV for the past...oh...10 years. After Nirvana, bleh. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I love Rock, it is my favorite Genre and always will be. You can have so many varieties just in that area and it's just point blank the best if you ask me.
Here is some of the artist i have on my computer right now and on my iPod to name a so called few.
Adema, aerosmith, black sabbath, bush, chevelle, cold, david bowie, disturbed, evanescence, eric clapton, foo fighters, garbage, godsmack, green day, judas priest, jimi hendrix korn, linkin park, marilyn manson, metallica, nine inch nails, nirvana, papa roach, queen, prodigy, radiohead, rammstein, rob zombie, the rolling stones, seether, the sex pistols, smashing pumpkins, soundgarden, staind, stone temple pilots, system of the down, tool and the list is much much bigger than that.
I basically like everything in general, but of course i have my favorites. I'm unique in that i can listen to the old and classic, history making stuff and the nu, so i love it all. Just depends on the mood. |

You have great taste in music, Lasher! hehe i love almost all of the bands you listed (i have an ipod, too- it's my greatest love). RO's were awesome too!
and about the linkin park thing, catrina. well, obviously i don't know RO's personal opinion, but you have to admit they've gotten really annoying. i liked them when they first came out, when they were called hybrid theory and then their first singles as linkin park were good (tho if i hear "in the end" one more time i'll combust). but now they're just overplayed and overrated- i mean, yes they were good and tried to bring something a little different to the mainstream, but seriously, it's gotta stop. they used to be kinda cool, but now all their songs just sound the same. no offense to anyone who likes them- i know they're extremely popular and stuff so please dont go yelling at me for stating my personal opinion. (not that any of the nice people here would )
and yes, RO, mtv sucks. for music television, they sure don't show much music. of course i love the variety of rap and rap and rap and pop, but the reality shows should find a different channel to make room for, you know, good music videos. i miss ALtv hehe i love that guy... _________________ i fought the war, but the war won |

My reasons are the same, except I never thought they were good. Cheap, plastic nu metal that is a disgrace to music. I've explained it so many times I might as well have just saved it to copy and paste, but let's leave it at this. MTV has force fed "bands" like Linkin Park to every impressionable kiddo out there, just as they've done since the beginning, which at first was all well and good. Until now, when the music is as fake as Britney's tits and won't even be remembered in five years, and MTV is just hoping they fool you all long enough that you'll buy a couple albums before they find a new formulated "super star" to spoon feed you. Don't mean to offend anyone who's a fan. Go right ahead and like them. Most people go through a bubblegum phase (and yes, Linkin Park is a bubblegum band). I just hope y'all are ones who grow out of it.
And if you want to get into my funnier reasoning (which are really just side notes), what the hell kind of name is Chester? I wouldn't mind if they had any music to back it up, but at least have a cool name. Chester?! Axl Rose, Billy Idol, David Bowie, Bon Scott, Nikki Sixx, rock star names. Chester is a child's bear.

hehe Chester!
but yes, RO, i definitely agree with your MTV comments- the same reasoning applies to the radio (ick radio...). The problem with MTV and the radio is they limit you by making you think that this is the only music out there (a depressing thought indeed), and encourage you to conform to the popular artist/song/idea of the day. These constanly changing genres and opinions reflect our lifestyles dedicated to advancing and moving forward and being better than the last guy. However, this kind of thinking also creates a dislike of things considered "old" and "outdated."
i'll admit, i went thru a bubblegum phase- during maybe 3rd-5th grades. then i discovered the foo fighters, incubus, the red hot chili peppers, nirvana, and lit in 6th and 7th (and my musical tastes have expanded greatly since then!). i think that it's good for everyone to go thru the pop phase because then after they've musically matured, they can look back and compare the bad with the good. they can also better understand those who are presently teenyboppers (tho i'll never understand posers). or they can look at their old cd's and laugh, wondering why they ever liked that stuff.
hmm yes sorry i always end up ranting!! ok stop. _________________ i fought the war, but the war won |

Yep yep. And I understand people who're going through a bubblegum phase, thus the reason I don't hold bad music taste against (most) people. Teenagers aren't supposed to know what they like. I was a bit lucky with a father who raised me on Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper. I never got any more "bubblegum" than Poison and Motley Crue, but they were bubblegum (kinda) in 1986. It doesn't really count anymore when MTV is treating them like s**t. And I'll never "grow out" of Poison, anyway. When they're as old as the Rolling Stones, still putting on one hell of a show, I'll be there. I just don't trust anyone who thinks they really like these huge fake bands. It's too easy to be a hit artist, so instead of billions of one hit wonders, there'll be billions of forgotten multi-platinum artists. In the words of Cinderella (...the band...) "The more things change, the more they stay the same, now all we need's a miracle to take us all away from the pain" _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C.
