Can A Contest Be Held In 2 Places?

I lurve holding contests, but when I post here I get 1 person. I've held 2 contests, and each time only 1 person replied. I'm happy that someone entered, but isn't the point of a contest "compition?" If you have no one else to compete with, it's not really a contest. Would it be fair for me to hold the same contest on 2 sites? I'd add the images from one to the other so everyone would be aware of the progress, and there is 3 prizes, but I still want to know if that would be considered fair. Please explain your point of view =)

I think it should be ok. After all, a couple people [i]have[/i] made a contest for FAC and dA combined.
