I really like the Marilyn Manson music, but my parents seriously HATE IT. So the only way I can get his CDs are by getting them as gifts, which is how I got my only CD of his. *sigh. I need more music than this...

eh. I think that is pretty lame. Music is music...it dosn't make kids 'evil' like most parents think these days..

just try downloading some songs online and listen to them on the computer..

personally, I hate Manson. He is such a dipshit attentionwhore. He gives 'goth' a bad name. I'm no goth myself, but damn, he is trying waaay too hard to be satanic. Besides, there is more to industrial then Manson anyway.

Stop it. Manson is NOT goth. He may look gothic, but that dosn't mean he is. To be a goth means to be an artistic individual that appreciates the aesthetic beauty in darkness. Manson is only into goth purely for the money. I mean, he is such a sorry attention whore that tries to be 'satanic'. oh good lord....oh yeah, satanic ISN'T goth either. I'm no goth myself, but I feel that this subculture has been totally misunderstood special thanks to assholes like Manson.

Not only are goths misunderstood, but even metal heads too. I've heard some people say Manson is "hardcore metal". oh lord..:(

I recommend you learn more about the gothic subculture before saying Manson is 'goth'.

but yeah, I wish I knew more about goths myself, but yeah, they're misunderstood today, I have a friend tht is is all dressing gothy and stuff, but she's misunderstoof, and all the other ones in my school. Well manson makes hell enough money then if he's all goth for it, cause he all like "Godfather of Goth" well that's good for him, he still is ok in the music, and I still find him funny! heh. Be careful. I assure you that at least 70% of the 'goths' in high school are wannabes, or desperate people in search of a identity. Very few of the goths among young people are real ones.

its tough, but once you think about it, death punk bands like Joy Division, Alien Sex Fiend, and Christian Death would be considered more as the 'godfathers' of goth music then Manson. like I said before, Manson isn't even goth. He is more of a 'shocker freak', like Alice Cooper. Except Manson tries [i]really[/i] hard to be 'satanic' Rolling eyes

Azzy pretty much covered Manson. He's shock rock, nothing more. He rips up Bibles to irritate Christians who have nothing better to do than start little anti-Manson groups and go on television to rant against him, not to "worship the devil" or "promote the dark arts". He's not doing it for his fans. He's doing it to piss off everyone who doesn't like it. Shock rock.

And I, personally, love that. Don't like the music, but all the power to him for getting Christian panties in a wad who can't step back and see they're doing exactly what he wants.

(if one more person calls some shitty modern pop punk, emo, or shock rock group "goth", I'll shoot someone. Learn what something is before you try to label things. High school "goths" aren't misunderstood at all. They're angsty mallrat brats, I understand perfectly.)

I'm not Christian at all, but I personally downright hate the thing he stands for. Manson reminds me of those pathetic losers who got bored of pissing off thier parents as a rebellious teenager and now try to piss off society as whole.

Well I'm European, he can't really shock me - not by his videoclips or anything... At leas he's got some visuality in his performance.

The gothic subculture (and I mean the true artistic goths, not your teenage Hot Topic mallrat) is misunderstood...we owe it all thanks to the stupid mass media and worthless bands like Manson, Korn, and (the old) Slipknot...

That should really go without saying if a person is at all familiar with the history of the band. They were creating a buzz with their image and doing magazine interviews before they'd even played together. Hell, they didn't know how to play at that point. Pretty much sums up the entirety of his career afterwards. Press first, music second.
