Appreciation Thread

Hey, I'm new both as a visitor to the FAC and as a member. I used to go to places like DeviantArt (and still do), but they've become so vast and commercial that I've just become overwhelmed. That's why I was so quick to join here! It's smaller, more personal, and people don't flounce around thinking they're either "too good" to comment on other people's work. Or, even worse, that if the people who comment on their work aren't "better" than them, they aren't worth listening too. Everyone has a right to be right!

So, what I want to know is: who are you favourite artists on FAC, and - just as importantly - WHY? Their style? Their volume of work? Their originality?
Although I watch anime and know a lot of different manga series from sheer internet exposure, I'm not fussy about the [b]subject[/b] of the artwork; if it's good, it's good.

op, newbie, don't make a newbie mistake or your on meh list. Well this place has a ton of jackasses, ppl here as more lazy to comment, they're all like "goodcool!!!11!!!" But yeah. Well yeah, my favorite artist is beastofoblivion. Why, she draws awsome and has her ouwn original dragons that she made up, she is very good at coloring and very awsome at detail, anyone else who finds this thread will say the seifer-sama is their fav. *sigh* every oen treats her like a goddesss and everyone wants a picture from her, poor lowlives. Don't think this place is any better, Da just has too much artists and such. I think DA is better, there arn't many jackasses that I've seen around there...yet. but yeah!

Don't turn this into a DA vs FAC thread. There's already one in the archives somewhere.

Narmeret - Some great charcoal stuff, and the subjects I like. Axl, Baz, Duff, etc.

Nell - Lovely digital work. Great sense of color and lighting.

TsukiNoNeko - Quite varied and talented with many styles and mediums. I think she updates much more regularly on DA now, but she was on FAC first. Have a lovely print of one of her pieces. :wub:

Woolf20 - Tons of Bowie art. Very talented.

Beastofoblivion - Awesome style with the pencils and CG. Nice critters, even if her dragons can feel a little too "standard" for my tastes....

BlackWolf - Great artist for fantasy werewolves. People say I draw great furried creatures, but I think BlackWolf's are still better. Not that I've never griped about a composition or physiology issue, though ;)

KFelidae - Because I know her on a different discussion forum, and she has some funny (and weird) ideas.

DG-Sama - Another good artist with the colored pencils. Friendly, too.

Angie chan not the best artist around, but I really enjoy looking at her funny anime pics, she has some nice stuff.

I forgot the name of that artist that does those cool just like anime cels.

I would say that it's Animemaster2334 cause she's so cool, kitsunelover25 because she's an awesome RPer and Sanokura (Rayne) because she's an awesome RPer too! Hanneko is cool too!

Well I think so. Being able to write something that's interesting, from my point of view, is a really good thing so I judge them personaly as artists.

Fallen's art is beautiful realism. You don't have to be a fan of what she sketches in order to appreiciate it. It's very soft realism and it really captures the person's likeness.

I don't need to express how great Beast Of Oblivion's work is. Everyone knows that. ^_^

Javester is a little known artist with a unique style, but unfortunatly he rarely posts new pictures. Awesome stuff.

Holy s**t, I just looked at Fallen's art for the first time right now. I can't belive what I've been missing.
Expect some comments Fallen.

Anywho, I'd have to say my top favorites are Juli, JAYCEE, DG-Sama, And Silver.
Juli: She has a unique style, thats loose and flowing. Though she isn't the greates out there, I think she deserves more respect. She also loves C&c!
JAYCEE: Has a very good understanding of drawing and shading faces. His art just pops out of the monitor. There are some mistakes, but you can still clearly tell who the TV star he draws is without looking at the title. Very good art, He deserves more publicity! Mr. Spock
DG-Sama: Need I say whats great about her art. I really like to see someone else color their anime with Prismacolor pencils. She also patiently answers all my questions on her art! ^^
Silver: She had a very different style. She left FAC sadly but I look at some of her stuff at deviantart and its so colorful. And she's improved.
