Haha...Being sued is the least of that person's troubles. Though depending on whose art they're taking, a nice little letter from an attorney would be hilarious.

Yes, it would be.

I'm planning on sending in my character bio's and drawings if the artist allow me "they are called for hire on the webpage, read up on it. copyright.gov) and getting my original characters copyright.

And that means, if any where to steal a picture of my original chracters, i'd be contacting my lawyer (my boss in other words, god i love working for a lawyer) I wouldn't have to do anything really, the note itself would scare the s**t out of any 12 year old. But you can be damn sure i'll do that if it ever happens.

Hence why i'm so freakishly protective of "my artists" If they've done any work for me, work that is of my own characters, ideas, which i first of all have to respect you for you work to even consider the person, then you'd be damn sure i'm on any case that involves their names and art theft.

Hopefully i can get the money and all the s**t together to start sending in my s**t for copyright this summer.

If i ever go professional with my writing, you can be damn sure i'll be keeping a lid on my s**t, i'll be like the next anne rice when it comes to protecting my s**t. you can look, but you can't touch. And if you do, i slap your upside the head with a million dollar law suit mother fucker.

Ya know lasher, the email addresses of most of the people who are stealing art are publically visable in their profiles.

An email from a lawyer may have some....Interesting effects Very Happy

Rolling eyes *coughs* Denis, now now, don't go encouraging me, i just might ask the boss *coughs* That would be funny as hell though *looks around* Hmm, i wonder if i could get him to write up some formal notice of the laws of theft. I bet that would be nice to stick in our agreements people have to read through, and have plastered on the front page, and across the wall of shame, and alllll over. With his little name "Charles Novins Esq"

Look him up on google, he write's articles and stuff sometimes. I believe chris looked him up all ready and read soem of his stuff. His mom even said he was easy on teh eyes now that stroked his ego well when i told him, until Anne smacked him over the head right after *chuckles* I love my boss, so nice to have them for neighbors.

Hmm.... Would you be interested Denis? *grins* Now you got me thinking on the mean things i could have done to scare them! DAMN YOU! Sad

p.s. I really said "s**t" a lot in my last post didn't i? Fallen is right, that word is used a lot.... my bad. *Waves nervously* wups

Did you know that simply by preserving your work electronically, i.e. by posting on a website, burring it to a CD, or submitting it to a place like this, you do retain a copywriter over it automatically. Due to the nature of the internet, laws have adapted to serve webmasters. You are already have the copywrite, even if you do not have it in a goverment office file. It holds up in court, like when a person invents something only to have it stolen. People have won court cases simply because they had electronic proof of it's existence as theirs.

Also, to the staff, one of the reasons I joined was because I saw the wall of shame first. I was happy to see all of the offenders info right there for all of us to see XD It made me feel better (safer) about putting up my work along with making me laugh. You guys do a good job keeping this place clean. It's good to see that for a change...so many places don't.

But many more have not even had their case heard because they don't have adequate proof. You have copyright over something the instant you create it. The problem comes when you have to prove you're the one who did. Sealing it in an envelope and mailing it to yourself isn't as concrete as it used to be, due to the idea getting out there too much and people knowing how to fake it. Dated working files of digital pieces can be helpful. Simply having it on a CD or even just owning the original won't hold up (or at least 99 times out of 100), because I could steal someone's drawing, burn it to a CD, stick it on my webpage, or anything else and claim it was mine. But it wouldn't be. Registering it, while not needed unless you plan on extensively using your work, just helps prove your case.

haha n.n my name popped up so many times in this discussion and I wasn't even aware of it!

yeah, sadly, you actually have to get off your but and have it copywritten at an office if you want to be 100% safe these days.
that's why I've gotten wavery about uploading my stories these days n.n dont' want anyone to steal my ideas (not neccessarily the badly written story itself, but the ideas) lol

But get this: even though we have the lovely little abuse mail...a lot of people have been getting into the habbit of personally reporting people to me at my own e-mail n.n lol along with other things (categories, approval questions, etc)

OH YEAH!! n.n
With the Image Board, NO pictures are allowed in user's galleries UNLESS they're done by them.
100%
Little bro's and sis's can go on the Image Board. and such.

But I did have one question:
We used to allow pictures drawn by other people but colored by the user. with the image board in mind....is this now a no go?
