The plushie was going to be simplified from the beginning (if you gave it the scraggily hair it would cost too much for the initial toy), I have some ideas I've been sketching out as far as plushi concepts go

but a lot of the designs depend heavily on how big we want it to be (smallest I believe is 7"). The smaller it is, the less detail it can have (like a neck lol )

I like the idea of a Pheral teddy bear thing. It can give my cat company when she needs some lovin'...

But, I'd buy Fallens' suggestion of an FAC sketchbook in a second. It would be something a member can take to school and show off, attracting more people to the site. If I was still in school, I'd definitly take it. plus, I always need more sketchbooks. If you go ahead with the plushie, I think you should also do the sketchbooks.

Sketchbooks are pretty simple. I know of a really great printer with tons of options that will make custom sketchbooks with proper drawing paper, where as a lot of others only have the option of blank paper meant for writing. They can print or heat stamp a logo/picture onto the cover in tons of different materials. A cardboard type surface would be cheapest, but they do have a huge selection of fabrics and leather too. A bit more than most people need. But a hard cover sketchbook with the FAC name heat stamped in gold/silver/copper would be cool.

Minimum order is 100 books. I can give you the link to the quote request form, Denis, once you have a specific design in mind, and they'll quote a price.

that sounds like it'd be really cool!

I think that would be really great for the site, too. Lots of kids draw in school/class and so more kids would probably come to the site ^^

100 books is definitely doable -- easier than the 500 plushies to start.

Either way, come up with art to post on such merch and plushie designs and I'll make a survey for the FAC community to get interest in it.

Since you have to order so many at a time, perhaps just a logo type design would be best to start? Art can be done, too, but may reduce how many people would be interested. Or maybe I just like shiny things, and silver letters are cool. Uneasy

I'll be willing to help out with sketching logo's and art for a cover if needed. But I think Raymei should be the one to doodle Pheral into a plushie.

BTW, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A LEATHER COVER ON MY FAC SKETCHBOOK!

I really like the sketchbook idea. ^_^ Do we have a logo? o.o

I'll work on some more sketches and post 'em later (I'll try cleaning 'em up, my sketches can be pretty illegible to most people Razz )

No one ever made/submitted an actual logo, even though it was an option on the original merchandise thread.

Perhaps just have people sketch some up and then make a poll? Or Denis could pick the one he likes the most? It doesn't even have to be an "official" logo, just a design for the way FAC is written on the cover.

I like leather, too, but it depends on what that would make the cost to people. If you could sell ones with a cardboard/vinyl type surface for $8-$10 and a leather one for $18, you'd probably sell more of the cheaper ones.

I think a poll would be best for a logo type thing to appear on a sketchbook. Give more people an opportunity to get involved and bring in new ideas Smile Fallen

There's some really really fun cover options. But I think if Denis fills out the quote form with conservative, basic details first for a price comparison, then the more decorative options could be considered and perhaps put into a poll or something.

A bit of a hard decision between the universal practicality of a plain cover with heat stamped text/logo and the flashy attraction of something more visually interesting.

I'd like a leather cover, but if you think those won't sell as easy, then just plain old FAC blue and white with a logo will do for me. If anything, anything FAC related/themed is right. I want to think of FAC when I look at that book. It should also have the web address for Fanart Central. In case an FAC member takes it to school, and someone steals it, then someone else who see's it will know where to go to report it stolen, right? whatever, All things FAC!

This is a rough draft of my rendition of Layz's ferret mascot, you didn't describe much of it, so it came out like this. FAC is shaved into it's fur. I did Kates penguin mascot, but it sucked, I had no penguin reference, I named it The Big Macheezmo. I did them both by memory, this one I had to think back to the Beastmaster movies to remember how a ferret looked. They have them at the mall here for sale, but only went to see them once. But I imagine this one as a white rodent with FAC blue streaks down it's back.
