Archetypes

Now I could go into philisophical talk about Jung's theory and symbols of archetypes and how stereotypical they are and how it doesn't necesarily have to invoke a deep feeling in the psyche and how it's actually the physical surroundings that stimulate our feelings...eh sorry. We were talking about archetypes in my AP class and we got into this deep philisophical meaning of good and bad and whatnot.

If you don't know what an archetype is, or you don't know about the theory relating it to humankind as a whole, just wait till your in highschool. For those of you who do know, which type of archetype do you use the most. The villian? The trickster? The hero? The superhero? The mother? The self? There are many others, personally, I tend to use the hero, the trickster, and I find myself using the anima and animus more often.

XD Wow, I can't remember any of Jung's stuff at all.

When I write, I don't tend to use any of the "cliched" characters. I try to build my own people from the feet up, y'know? None of my characters are really the same as the others. ^^;

ONce, I tried creating a hero which had the exact opposite traits as the listed traits for the archetypical hero. It was wierd, but a lot of fun. I think I'll do that to the villian next time and see what ends up happening.

i make heros and villians as similar as posible, one story i wrote the only difference between the hero and the villain (they look the same, are related, have the same personality and abilitys) is the villian chose to follow his destiny and serve evil, the hero resisted the temptation and tries (slightly unsuccesfully) to be a good guy. (dosnt stop him being moody as hell)

I typically use the trickster, or the underdog.
I admit I tend to favor the type of characters whore never really given any glory.
My Heros usually turn out to be arrogant, self centered etc . . .
While my villains work from the sidelines and are very rarely shown to any great degree

I actually tend to use the trickster alongside the mother alot. The combination is usually wacky with someone always tricking and takin advantage of someone else. Rita-chan has been obssesed with writing as long as I've known her >> << Wouldn't you know it to be her to make a topic like this... Anyways, I actually tend to use girls more often since they seem to convey emotion easier with out the sudden outburst of anger or happiness taking them off character

And what's that supposed mean? Anyways, I use boys and girls wherever they fit in.
