Why? do people not like brains, logic, thinking? Star Trek has action too. most people think of Captain Picard of the USS Enterprise D rigistry number NCC-1701. i know, he talks a little much. personaly i like Captain Kathryn Janeway of the USS Voyager registry numbe NCC-74656.

Just think as the numbers as your social security number or the numbers on your state ID.

But you were making a counter-argument to the "Star Wars is better than Star Trek" statement. What do the ship numbers have to do with that?

Its also identifying the ship with its captain. ya see some people dont like Star Trek 'cause of Captain Picard. of the Enterprise D. He is the one that people saw most of an all. i know hes not much of an action dude, but his movies are cool. Captain Janeway(I have her autograph! we!) of Voyager has more action, in it.so its kinda a whos ship is whos.

Well, for one, I think the characters are a lot stronger and more memorable in Star Wars. Whilst Captain Kirk and co may be unforgettable characters in their own right, to me they don't compare to characters like Darth Vader and Obi-wan Kenobi.
The music as well. The Imperial March is a piece of cinema history for me. You hear it and just think "These are the bad guys."
I also see Star Trek as a show that's focused on space travel more in terms of exploration and discovery, as oppposed to Star Wars' gearing more towards action and space battles. Not to say that Star Trek doesn't have it's fair share of action, but lightsaber battles and dogfights just make better viewing than the "two ships, two captains in a battle of wits" scenario for me. Call me shallow, but I like a bit of fast-paced battling.
Star Wars also manages to carry a sense of good and evil throughout it's films. The whole "dark side of the force" is something that gives the film good, clean-cut lines between the characters and the sides they're on. Star Trek, to me at least, seems to deal with conflicts more by depicting them as a clash of principles; neither side are right or wrong, they just don't see eye to eye. Whilst Star Trek pulls this off well, it's not something I really care about in my films/shows.

The thing is, it's fairly hard to compare a long-running series with a set of films. You could try and get around this by using the Star Trek films for any comparisons, but missing out the all of the series wouldn't be exactly fair. You may not agree with this, but this is how I see it. You probably won't change your mind after reading this, but there's nothing I can do about that. This is only my opinion.

i am in compleate dissagreement. and its not always a 1 on 1 battle sene.all around i think its way better than Star Wars, but Ill admit the last Star Trek show they came out with named "Enterprise" with Captain. Archer had awfull writters and did something totally stupid. they stopped writting in the 3rd season when everything was getting so good an awsome beond belief! but , thanks for stateing your reasons 'cause most people will just say "because it is" and i so hate that. I cant tell you much about Captain Kirk 'cause i was like not around, but dad has the collection. Im rather fond of the ones with the "Hippies" headed to the planet "Edan" by high jacking a shuttle. theres more to it that is amusing and has action. There are a bunch of episodes when hes always being forced to kill someone when i say someone i mean a person(s) in hand to hand combat.
i was like 4 when Star Trek The Next Genertaition with captain jean-luke pickard (jean is prounced like john. its a french name) dad taped all of thoses. there was this 1 episode that totally freaked me out it was so scary. i love Q. hes so i dont know where to begin to describe him. just a snap of the fingers you can be in a different time zone or be a different age or in a different continum be someone else have controll of someone, and more. his personality is like so, i dont know if theres a word for it. in Star Trek Voyager with Captain these is a lot of action, and a few creepy episodes that wanna make me hide under the covers. of course you have to think out of situations in each series insted of ringing someones neck every time you have to have a race on your nervers. the kligons are the battle ready, warriors that say "hi" by shooting at you. and will only eat live animals. have ritchuals that involve lots of blood. i could go on about a few episodes and their alian races an ect. ect.
what kind of Star Wars conventions are there?? and do they have a whole state deditaced to them??

That's a fair point you made about the fighting. The first series of Star Trek had it's moments with plain ol' fisticuffs. Isn't one of the big moments from that series when Kirk and Spock have to fight to the death? (I only know the moment from Cable Guy Laughing ) But it's stuff like Darth Maul vs. Obi-wan that still draws me towards Star Wars.

But to avoid going off topic any more, I'll list my fave themes:

Family Guy
Futurama
Hellsing
Viva La Bam
Jackass

It's the scene when Jim Carrey and the other guy's characters fight at the medievil restaurant. JC's character says something along the lines of "This is like when Spock and Kirk had to do battle on Star Trek. Best friends forced to do battle." He then sings the background music as the fight starts. He even finishes the fight with the words "Goodbye Jim." I thought that scene was hilarious.

...anyways, I forgot what the song title is called, but I like Gravitation's ending theme. I also like FullMetal Alchemist's opening theme, READY STEADY GO, by L'Arc~en~Ciel.
