Hay all you know what to do.
I, as maybe some of you might know by now, i work at one of the last remaining full service gas stations with service center. i pump the gas while washing the windows. i check the oil and other fluids under the hood and check the tires for air pressure and air them up if they need it.
Then i work on the inside. i am the tire guy. i fix flat tires(huuuuge pain in the ass... ) especially when there is fix a flat in it. That stuff doesn't allow the patch to stick and i have to wash that stuff out with water and then make sure that the water doesn't get to the patch becuase it will tear it off and the tire will leak again.
Then the little tire crap stuff that comes off the tire when we grind the area on the tire where the patch goes. It doesn't come out of the hair. I have to wash my hair like 3 to 4 times to get it all out. wastes lots of shampoo.
we also never plug the tire because you would be surprised how many times i have had to fix a tire because the plug was bad. spooty plugs.
not mention that i sprained my left wrist lifting a huge heavy tire last friday. Now i am weak and crippled. i can't do all the stuff that i used to do at the station. My wrist is getting better but man it sucks having my boss(dad) do the work.
oh yeah i forgot to mention that it is a family business. four generation.... _________________ I'm a bit silly on the goofy side on nonsense. ^_^ |

I'll be doing the same thing I've been doing since the end of last summer, with new positions aswell. I'll be in the dishroom, in the pot sink, helping with soups and foods...all that good restaurant stuff! Pretty much every day of the week too.... |

I have yet to get a job but I'm going to be job hunting this summer. There really isn't much available. There's a Victoria's Secret around here that I want to work at but a 20 minute drive to and from work is a little much in terms of gas money.
I've always wanted to work at a bookstore. Like at Borders or Barns N' Noble. I could be like the person at the little cafe who serves coffe and tea to the trendy readers there and discuss politics with all the business people and in between shifts I can sit down with a good book (that I can borrow from the shelf because I work there) with a latte and just enjoy my job.
I so want to be a bookstore employee right now its not even funny. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Haha, Hawk, I can sympathize with you. I usually do jobs with my father during weekends and he's tough on me.
This summer I'll probably do more of the same. Do carpentry, roofing, painting, tiles, etc. Carpentry in general.
Roofing is the worst and painting the easiest. Setting tiles isn't complicated but it's tedious work and kills your back after a few hours.
Whatever money I make will be spent on a new computer. I need a powerful one to run all the programs I use in my graphics class. _________________ >:C |

Finally someone who knows what it's like to do hard work. my grandfather used to do that stuff and i know how it feels. i always hated using the machine to cut tiles becuase i always broke them. and reshinkling the roofs is a pain and you have to watch your step or else face falling to your doom or being crippled. gulp....
but yeah hard work is the worst but you feel like you earned it..... ^_^ _________________ I'm a bit silly on the goofy side on nonsense. ^_^ |

Commissions and various art show sales. I don't have the means to get a proper job, with no transportation out of town and the few businesses that will hire teenagers already full with family/church friends. If you don't go to church, you don't work in this town.
But commissions will be fine. Beats washing dishes and pays the same or more.
In the fall I get placed in my work study job. Please be a desk job, please be a desk job, please be a desk job.... _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

You just keep on praying fallen because if its outside you will be hating every moment of it.
i had to work in the rain today. it sucked worse then a hover vacuum... I got all wet and stuff. the rain was cold and i finally got home to warm up.
so please let fallen have a desk job. were the biggest worry fallen will have is carpoltunnel from clicking to much or how sugary the coffee is(forgot how you like it. sorry...) _________________ I'm a bit silly on the goofy side on nonsense. ^_^ |

It won't be outside. Most of the jobs in the program are various desk/office jobs. Then there's the odd number of custodial positions and local stuff, which could leave me washing dishes or cleaning up various bodily fluids. I'll find my own job as a receptionist before I put sawdust on vomit. Ack.
Although cleaning up any of the studio rooms/classrooms I could do. Lord knows I'm so messy I can get paint off any surface. It's just the food...and bathroom stuff I won't do because it makes me ill.
I'd keep going with the commissions instead, but I figure by the time I have 6-8 hours of class, 4-6 hours of homework, I won't want to do more art as a job. At least not all the time.
EDIT: I don't like coffee. But I'm very good at making and taking it to people after being a "teacher's assistant" for a term that just ended up with me being the coffee bitch. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Hey now, I'm a dishwasher and damn proud of it. It's pretty hard work! Especially with such an oldschool method I have to use. I'm stuck with a raggety machine and most of what I do has to be done by hand not machine. It pays pretty damn well too! Hey, at $7.30 an hour, that's fine with me! As long as I'm making at least 40 a week during school time, I'm fine honestly. Over the summer I'll be working practically everyday so eh. |

I never said it wasn't. And I know it can pay well. I just couldn't do it for the exact reasons you described. Dealing with other people's dirty dishes bothers me.
I make more per hour doing the art thing. Just a matter of keeping myself motivated to do enough of them. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

heh heh. i was one one time it was horrible i was yelled at because i never got it right at first but i eventualy got them right.
as for the job thing. cool i hate cleaning stuff too. in my job. there have been 4 times that a handycapped person or some asshole came to use our bathrooms
when i go in ther after they have long since left. i see that they have s**t all over the place. they had it on top of the toillet under it on the walls under the seat and over the seat. on the handle and just about everwhere. those jerks made me clean human s**t from the bathrooms and they didn't buy anything. plus you have to physically do it by yourself. i am not kidding you at all i hated it.
i mean even if your crippled you should not do that. the only place there was no s**t was actually in the toilet. and that pisses me off to no end. _________________ I'm a bit silly on the goofy side on nonsense. ^_^ |

Exactly why I won't do those jobs. I have enough trouble using public toilets, let alone cleaning them. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I'm going to be programming some medical imaging software for Hitachi in Tokyo this summer. It all sounds very grand and complicated, but I don't really know what's going on. And I'm leaving in two days! >_<
Oh well. Yay for internships and study-abroad. |

darn connections. but i know what its like my god father works as a head honcho for the military base where i live and they have concerts and stuff. its cool because he gets me back stage passes. i got to see WAR, ALABAMA, GRAHAM COLTON BAND, AND TRAIN. i was supposed to see jeff foxworthy but my mom made me late to see him so i missed it... .... it angered me to no end.
And since i'm getting into computer animation for my job. my dad's cousin erik is a head honcho for disney in the animatronic's department. if i'm lucky i might be able to get a job for disney. he said if i look like i'm good enough he might give me a recommendation.... ........he owns like one acre of land and a two story house in japan. he makes the big bucks.$$$$$$$ cha ching.
work was a dozy today i had to fix like 20 flat tires. i am so tired but i'm addicted to FAC now so it doesn't matter..... _________________ I'm a bit silly on the goofy side on nonsense. ^_^ |
