I saw threads about many games like Soul CaliburII and stuff like that and am a bit bored.

If you play it, who do you use?
if you have any good codes, feel free to tell them too Smile

Okay, I use Pikachu alot because of the old nintendo64 game but can also play as, flaco, fox, Yoshi and Kirby.

Code,trick---
-When you use Link or samus and are thrown off the field, you can use your hookshoot or laser beam to grab on the edge of some fields like the temple and Fox's ship.

You turn now

Super Smash Bros. Melee was one of the launch titles for the GameCube. So yeah, I bought it and played it.

A lot.

My most favorite characters include:

- Link: You just don't mess with that sword of his. Pretty durable, too, even if a bit slow.
- Young Link: For pretty much the same reasons as Link. Plus, he's faster, and his spin attack has a combo effect much like Mario's spin attack. Not as durable as old Link though, and his attack range isn't as great.

- Pikachu: Primarily for his speed and agility. Favorite tactic: casting Thunder mid-jump to strike below enemies indirectly.

- Fox: Also because of his speed. His deflector shield is a great surprise move, particularly at close range, His rapid-fire blaster is a great nuisance weapon as it causes damage without making the opponent flinch. Not too much of an aerial fighter though, and a little weak on defense.

- Falco: Because of his high jump. Not as much of a runner as Fox, but with similar attacks, it doesn't matter much.

- Roy: For his swordsmanship (again). The sword packs some major power at close range, he's a bit stronger on defense than Marth, and packs some awesome firepower. A little slow in response but his Counter ability can make up for it.

- Zelda/Shiek: Simply because of her transformation ability.

okay then. Why I use them.

Pikachu: The attacks can easelly be done from a distance. Good speed and Can easelly be brought bback on the field with the fast attack. Great smash.

Link: Good sword play and strenght.
Young Link: The same but faster. less of attack strengh and distance but the speed catches up for it.

Yoshi: Easy to knock of the ring but great speed and strong attack on the ground. Good jumps.

Kirby: The ability to fly good distances and the attack copy.

Fox: Good speed and the deflector shield. Useful when fighting against ennemies who attack with long range. Good smash attacks

Falco: The great jumps. Pretty much like fox on the basic but maybe less strong hits.

I wish you could have played as sonic and tails. Ah well.

Personally I prefer Roy and Link, for the same reasons Strata posted. Fox is good too, especially in Super Sudden Death, with his deflector.

I don't think Sonic and Tails were Niintendo characters though... aren't they Sega?

Anyway my favorite character are... Bowser (cause squishing people is fun) Jigglypuff (cause destroying people with a pink puff is fun) Roy (cause he's cute.... >.> ) and Young Link (I find him easier to use the adult Link)

SSBM is sooo much fun! I unlocked and beat everything in the game except the last mission mode and the hidden one.

I forgot about mewtwo and Bowser.

Mewtwo:Has a good throw but lower attack power. The speed is not to bad. Good in aerial attack when using the A button

Bowser: Great strenght and hard to throw out of the ring. it's harder to come back to the stage even woth the recovery move though because he deosn't go to far.

Pokemon Craze:
Set all items on poke ball and go to the pokemon stadium stage.
the stages will keep changing and the pokemons will make it hareder to stay. try to get most of the pokeball if you don't want to get beaten^^

Mega or miny match:
Go to the specail matches in multiplayer and select giant or tiny fight mode. Depending on which you choose, set all items only on Poison or super mushrooms. You will be able to be super tiny or giant.
You can also go on super fast fight and only use bunny hoods.

A little more info on how I tend to play:

Link - Favorite combo against solo opponent is to juggle them repeatedly (upwards smash attack). Works surprisingly well on heavier opponents (since they don't fly as far), and I like to finish it off with an upward aerial stab. Spin attack and downwards aerial attack work wonders on groups.

Young Link - Same, except a bit more cautiously due to lower defensive strength. Wall-jump ability isn't too useful in most battle arenas.

Fox - I tend to pester enemies at a distance with his blaster. His special dash attack is okay for a recovery move, plus as a surprise if the enemies get closer. (Or if they get too close, I use his deflector shield) When in trouble, I use his speed to get out of the fray.

Falco - Same tactics, except I use his jump to escape crowd situations instead of running.

Kirby - Favorite tactic: dropping on enemies in stone form. Kirby's invulnerable in stone form (except to grappling moves), so it's very useful for defense as well.

Roy - Favorite attack is his charged special attack due to high firepower. Slow attacks but his combo special attack let him inflict damage quickly, and his Counter move rounds out the set. Upwards stab is an excellent move for enemies on overhead platforms (more so than Marth's, actually), or large enemies that are too close.

Pikachu - You can't beat his recovery move. His electrical attacks are fun to use, and his standard aerial attack has a combo effect to it.

Peach - Weak on defense, but great recovery when she's thrown off the sides -- she can hover for some distance, not to mention glide even further with her Parasol move. Smash attack is unpredictable in a good way -- her tennis racket really sends enemies flying.

Mewtwo: The way he just... glides around the arena is interesting. His basic special attack (Shadow Ball) can hurt enemies while it's charging, a great surprise move against large foes. Love the telekinetic throws (forward throw is also useful against groups), and he can dizzy opponents almost at will.

Jigglypuff: This is, so far, the ONLY character I've been able to beat event battle #51 with. (I believe that in order to unlock event 51, you have to beat Giga Bowser in Adventure mode -- which requires beating all the Adventure mode stages in a total time of less than 20 minutes or so on Normal or harder -- you have to move fast and KO quickly), because of her 'Rest' move's surprisingly potent punch at point-blank.

And my favorite variations on game modes:

Mini Mode: Play "Tiny Melee" with the damage ratio set to about 0.5~0.7 -- this counteracts the weaker defensive strength caused by Tiny status. For extra fun, customize the Item Swap for poison mushrooms -- tiny tiny! It's hilarious seeing them carry weapon items while tiny.

Godzilla Mode: Play "Giant Melee" with the damage ratio set low and count just how much damage the characters take before getting KO'd. Or set the damage ratio high (2.0) to counteract their larger mass.

My reason for using them.

Pikachu: His smash attack is powerful against a near annemy. It sends them flying away and does a good amount of damge. His recovery move is really great and when you know well how to use pikachu, you can jolt twice instead of once.

Fox: I like to speed up from one side to the other with the special attack. The speed. It's useful in crowd and is a good trick to quickly get out.

Link: young Link: The upper special move. it's useful when in a crowd. Everyone willl get damaged exept link and they'll be sent flying away. the other are pretty much for the same reasons then Strata.

But for the others, Fly by your own wings.

You do realize Mario is in anime style. I thought you hated anime Dogss. Anyway, I hate using the Mario characters, they drive me crazy with annoying voiceovers and cartoony looks. I beat them up for fun sometimes. I hate to see Marth, Roy, or Link get hurt.
Same here Razz

Another reason why Link is my favorite Smash Bros. character: His two-hit Smash attack. After performing a Smash attack (charged or not), hit the A button again and Link performs a second smash attack of equal strength. This increases his effective range of his smash attack, as well as the overall usefulness of his smash in general.
I don't think it's possible to hit every name. I've tried and that code sounds a bit like a rumor. A few other rumors I've heard, one person said that if you beat All Star mode with Marth on Very Hard it'll unlock Dragon's Gate for Fire Emblem as a fighting stage. My brother did it and it ddidn't earn it so it was a rumor. Also there's the classic you can earn Sonic and Tails from duh, Sonic the Hedgehog but it's a Nintendo game and I doubt they would include SEGA characters.
well i heard this rumor that you can unlock sonic by playing cruel melee and beat like 20 or 50 people then you fight sonic and unlock him

Link is good in singular fight and useful in crowds. Just use the spin attack and they fly away ^_^
