This past year seems to be a good year for bands good and bad to be making some powerful comebacks. But how long will they last?

Post your favorite comebacks here. Or your least favorite. Who do you think will stick it out and last for a long time or will dissappere in a couple of months never to be heard of again. And just for fun, if you can think of a band that is due for a comeback soon then talk about it.

As for me, I personally think that Motley Crue is one of the most successful comebacks we've seen in awhile. Velvet Revolver is great (well thats more like a third of GnR getting back into the scene with Scott Weiland but its still a comeback) but I think that just the fact that all of the members of Motley Crue are touring together again is a huge accomplishment. They were able to get together long enough for the sake of performing good rock n' roll even if it means touring with someone you don't like. This is a great moment in rock history and I hope that they can last for a good long time.

It's been confirmed that the Spice Girls have been shunned from the upcoming Live 8 concerts, this doesn't mean they won't come back, but this is a bit of a spanner in their comeback trail plans...

You Brits and your crappy pop girl groups. Rolling eyes

The BSB have some balls for attempting to go on tour. Not that I care but I just think that after all the parodies and crap people have said about them after they dissappered well its just really ballsy. Stupid, yes. Its suicide for them and I hope that they don't get that far but thats just my two cents.

Aerosmith needs to come back on tour. I need to see them just once in concert then I will die a complete woman. Smile

It's actually not that stupid on their part considering the BSB tour is already practically sold out. Wink

By who? Seriously, who actually still likes the BSB let alone admitting it in public?

BSB can sell out because they dropped out of the scene before it got ridiculous. So they weren't beating it into the ground like N'sync and all those other groups people got painfully sick of. More of a novelty tour than anything. It'll die down quickly, like Britney Spears.

Favorite Comebacks:

Motley Crue - duh. Self explanitory.

Aerosmith - After the remake with Run DMC. Hate the version of Walk This Way, but since it meant a revival, I'll suffer with it.

Poison - In 1999/2000 with the return of C.C.. After he hit rock bottom with cocaine and cleaned himself up. Another instance of some people who hate each other putting differences aside long enough for a tour (minus the screaming matches backstage ever night).

Cinderella - Almost same time as Poison, they opened for one tour. And kicked all kinds of ass, still as good as they were before. And in a time of fat sloppy rock stars, that's an accomplishment.

Billy Idol - The new album and tour is great. Later albums in the mid 90s sucked hard.

AC/DC - Back in Black, self explanitory

Least Favorite:

Van Halen - Van Hagar and with Gary Cherone. And the short lived revival of Van Hagar last year. Suck.

Bon Jovi - "We really weren't a hair band" with their trendy new hair cuts and videos.
<_<

Def Leppard - Bleh.

Skid Row - All Baz's fault. Long story.

Beach Boys!!! Brian Wilson released "Smile" last year and I have to say it is the greatest comeback in a long time.
The fact that they're coming to my area on their tour doesn't hurt either! Smile

I can understand if bands that came after Bon Jovi claimed to not be hairmetal bands but they were the first. How can they deny it? But I've heard songs from that comeback. It was nothing special and really dissapointing. <_<

At least he's getting rid of his washed-up image. At least thats what people tell me. I always get "He's always seemed washed up to me" when I mention him. This tour and album really proves them wrong.

And speaking of least favorite comebacks...

Guns N' Roses-I can't believe I almost forgot about this. I think its safe to say that this is one of the most dissapointing comebacks to happen. Do I even need to explain it? I think its pretty self-explanitory. <_<

Joe Perry-Maybe I'm being a little too stubborn and dissapointed that it isn't all of Aerosmith who went back to making albums. But I haven't seen or heard anything about him except for this album. I just want Aerosmith to go on tour one more time. Sad

Tommy Lee-drummer trying a solo career? Do I even need to go on? Rolling eyes

The same way Def Leppard denies it. "Ohhhh no no no, don't lump us into that lot! We had hair, but it wasn't big hair. Sav had slightly big hair, but it was naturally that way." - Joe Elliot Rolling eyes Whatever he needs to tell himself to sleep at night, but they were a hair band through n' through. Just because half of them had ugly hockey mullets, it doesn't change the look and music.

It's because instead of being cool about it and embracing what they are, like Poison, they thought denying the humiliating past would be better. Like there's no evidence.

That's not so much a comeback as it is really really really bad first try.

See what I don't understand is why they are so ashamed of their past? I mean there are way worse things you can be than a hair metal band. Rolling eyes I mean look at Motley Crue and Poison and Cinderella. They don't deny it and they're doing pretty good and still going strong.

I considered that as a mini-comeback for Motley Crue because at least someone was doing something outside of Vegas shows. But I can't deny that it was very bad. He should just stick to hooking up with as many chicks as he can and playing the drums in between those sessions. He's still single isn't he?

Another comeback-

Haoni Rocks-you know the details more than I do fallen but I remember you mentioning that they had a new album coming out. I'm still waiting for it to show up in a store around here but my state is a cultural pop century wasteland. <_<

Some of it may be shame, but a lot of it is marketing. Both cut their hair and evolved to a more modern sound, so sweeping the big hair glam past under the rug makes them seem younger, cooler, and more appealing to the kids. Nevermind the fact it alienates all the people who liked them before. From grunge onward, "hair band" meant idiot in stupid clothes who can't play and whose songs aren't worth anything. A big joke. And they spent their careers selling out stadiums, they can't handle being a joke to people.

Nikki played in Brides of Destruction before the Crue reunion. Not fabulous, but loads better than Tommy (who is more or less still single. He was with Pink for awhile, and a variety of other girls, including back with Pam).

Hanoi Rocks made their comeback a couple years ago. Twelve Shots On The Rocks was their first one with Andy back in the group, and their newest one sounds a lot more like old Hanoi. Mike did solo records all through the down time, so it took 'em an album to get back into the groove of Andy doing a lot of the writing instead of it sounding like a Mike solo effort. They were never big in America, so their comeback is more obvious in Finland, England, Italy, etc. But they're supposed to tour here. Andy can just never seem to make it into the country (past issues with drug busts n' whatnot).
