Eric's sounds like such a girl..... _________________ It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.
How long did it take my brother to defeat those characters using Yoshi? Two minutes.

Dark Cloud 2 may not have earned itself a 'Greatest Hits' classification like its predecessor, but overall it's much better than the original.
Graphics: I like the colorful, semi-celshaded effects for all the characters.
Sound/Music: The voiceovers are fitting, and the music is a lot better than the first. None of that generic "dungeon" music stuff. This is most noticeable in the combat music that kicks in whenever you approach an enemy and the mini-boss music.
Gameplay: The learning curve doesn't start out so damned high as the first one. To me, it was incredibly difficult to get started in the first Dark Cloud game because of your limited items, cash, needing to repair your weapons very often, and many of the monsters inflicting Poison on you. This one is a lot easier to start out with, not the least of reasons being:
- Improved Guard command. You don't need a Lock-On to guard anymore, and it blocks attacks a lot more effectively now. In particular, the Rolling Rock enemies aren't nearly as dangerous now because you can block their rolling attack now.
- Dual wielding. Max and Monica have a melee weapon and a ranged weapon equipped at all times. This is a lot more versatile than being resricted to one type of weapon per character.
- Revised weapon/experience system. You don't lose your weapons if they break anymore! Just repair them, and you're back in business. The weapon stats system has been simplified (10 attributes instead of 19) and it's a lot easier to build up weapons this time thanks to the 'Synthesis Points' system, 'Spectrumize' command (which also doubles as the old 'Stat Break' command, allowing you to merge weapons with each other), and special rare 'Coins' allowing you to bestow special effects (like Regen or Exp Up) essentially at will.
But just because the system is more user-friendly, doesn't mean that late-game combat isn't difficult. Particularly all those enemies in the hidden Zelmite mine, who can KO you in two or three hits (even with full health/defense levels).
I kinda miss the "simon says" style duels from the first Dark Cloud (I really, REALLY wish the Sun Giant battle was one of those duels, and not just a standard cutscene sequence!), but the overall improvements in DC2's combat system more than make up for it.
And that's not even counting the vastly improved level design (the randomly-generated rooms have intertwining paths now, they don't feel like a bunch of rooms, connected ant-farm style by tunnels) and the mini-games (like Spheda, a little tricky to learn but always a good way to cool off after clearing a floor of tough monsters). _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I bought Dark cloud as my first ps2 game and a i loved it. The day Media play had it out for slae i bought it right away. I absoloutly loved the new georama system and the new fighting engine. I think that the game should definatly get a greatest hit case. I LOVE THE GAME.
i am obsessed with video games.

It should take only one word to sum up Dark Cloud II. 1 word 2 syllables.
Awesome |

I liked Dark Cloud, the first one, and I might get the second one. Personally, customizing your own world was my favorite part. |
