Original > Characters. It's kind of overused, but except for furries, fantasy characters, and fan-characters, that's the only place intended for them.

I did a search on my name, just for fun, & it looks like there's 2 of my name. I'm not talking about the girl 44rikuschick44 either. well maybe a link would better explain my problem:
http://www.fanart-central.net/search.php?s...=15&submit.y=10
so, is it just a glitch in the system? I did have 2 accounts, but that was a couple of years ago & I had the other account deleted.
The little blurb underneath the username, just above the row of blue boxes, is a member title and it will change automatically as your post count rises.  Alternatively, you can also be given a custom member title (like mine, for example) by the moderators. Um... I have a question about what pictures Im allowed to submit...

In the rules, it says:
This is a place to present your best work, not every doodle on lined paper. It just wastes the site's resources and contributes to clutter.
* If its on lined paper, it probably shouldn't go here.
It doesnt truly say that I cant submit drawings on notebook paper... But one person said that Im not allowed to.

I draw everything on notebook paper... The lines help me with some things... I have tried to trace some pictures before onto computer paper to color them in or something, but they never look as good... And I guess that I could erase them in paint, but then it wouldnt be the original picture - even if I can make it look almost as though it was.

Could you tell me if pictures like this are okay? It's not like I did it in a few minutes... well, actually, it was a kind of short amount of time... But it's just that I need lines sometimes... Like when writing on computer paper, my words start going diagonal and becoming different sizes... Uneasy
http://www.fanart-central.net/pictures.php?pid=168245

I also would like to know about screenshot pictures... It says not to just trace pictures, doesnt it? Thats what I thought, at least... So I havent added any that I drew straight from the TV, but someone told me that I could submit them... I guess it isnt really clear on that one either, but I havent done that one because Im not really the true artist - I just like the poses.

No, you may not submit drawings on lined paper. All they do is take away from the image and make it look like a doodle, no matter how well done the picture is. The reason it doesn't specifically ban lined paper is that there are very very very rare instances where lines are a purposeful part of the image. But those are so uncommon that it isn't even worth including in the rules, and overall, no lined paper.

Erasing the lines digitally is probably the easiest of the solutions. No, it isn't the "exact" drawing, but erasing the lines is the same thing as cleaning up smudges or inking mistakes or cropping out parts you don't like. It's all about presentation, and how you present the piece affects what people think of it tremendously.

I highly suggest you ween yourself off notebook lines. It will make your work look much nicer and improve your skills much more than always relying on the lines. Learn to make your own guidelines, do a little reading on proportion so you can sketch it out on your own, or if all else fails, get a piece of paper with dark black lines and put it under a clean white sheet. The lines will show through enough that you can use them but will leave your drawing on nice blank paper.

As for screenshots, as long as it's your own drawing and not traced, you can submit it only if you give credit. Specifically state in the description that you referenced a screenshot and what show it was from.

Does nobody read the Site News anymore?

Just convert your documents to a different file format, preferably HTML.
is this site free?
Yeah, it's completely free.... o.0
When and how often do you have contests, and how do I vote on pictues for contests?
Contests are done by any member of FAC who wants to start one. There are always contests going on. There's a section near the bottom on the forum that are for contests.
And you don't always vote for pictures for contests. If a contest holder wants other people to vote for pictures, they'll set up a poll (there is a sub forum in the contest section for polls). Otherwise, they usually just choose the winners themselves.

The Contests section also has its own FAQ-style help thread discussing just about all aspects of how FAC contests work. Wink

You must have an account in order to comment. And, yeah, it's ok if you just make up an account for commenting only. A few people do that here already. Smile

I've noticed a small glitch in the galleries. The thumbnails show up fine, but a few select pictures will not show up after clicking on the thumbnails OR the hyperlinked text. I seriously doubt that this is a problem within my computer, because if this was true than NO pictures would show. Some of the pictures do actually show, but most do not.

I've seen that too. I think it's because of how FAC keeps growing in size.

Well-known problem, please convert your chapters to HTML format and try again.

I think he's asking how long it takes between submission and approval... just check back in a day, and it should usually be approved by then.
